lol Dicky now you know how I felt with my E65
btw have you tried updating the firmware? or reinstalling it?

often that helps but if it doesn't then take it back and demand another one

the E61i is a pretty good phone,
it reminded me of the E65 when I was in the Vodafone shop a few weeks ago, I was testing handsets out

Posted by dicky
i shouldnt have to flash the firmware, and to be honest i dont think it would help, it seems like a hardware issue. so back it goes!!

Posted by Miss UK
oh well dicky 3rd time lucky? My 1st E65 had that problem, it also kept flashing lol

Posted by dicky
yeah hopefully. if i have a problem with the next one, i may ask for a different model! (tempted by the N95 8GB)

Posted by Miss UK
most of those E phones have loads of faults. E65 was the worse case scenaraio over at Nokias uk discussion anyway, some people are just lucky to get working phones others not hope u get a 3rd that works anyway if no get a N95-2 had mine a week its a good phone no probs at all and it handles apps well. YouTUBE works brilliantley via Wi-Fi good job to

Posted by BobaFett
why do u say most e series are faiulty? imo that serie offers the most stable and trusteable devices

Posted by Miss UK
boba checkout nokia.co.uk discussion board u will see what I mean esp on E65's.

Posted by BobaFett
maybe that one, but ther are so many others naxt ot it and all those sell very well.

Posted by Dogmann
Hi Miss UK

Like Boba i can not agree as many people complain and wish that the N series where as well built and reliable as the E series. Also you need to take into account just how many of these devcies are sold in regard to how many have problems and complain, it shouldn't happen and all should be perfect but unfortunately we don't live in a perfect world. Also just how many of those with problems are using branded handsets as unfortunately most of us are aware just what problems a branded handset can have over a generic one.

If the Networks weren't all so concerned with trying to make sure you always used thier services first and mostly and stopped all branding bar a start up and shutdown screen with just a few links i really think we as users would all be a lot better off. Plus of course it would mean everyone could get the latest firmware when it's released instead of having to wait months for the Network to approve it which IMO sucks big time and really is the best reason for buying generic or debranding.

True True,

but do all people with Voda branded handset have probs with there phones?.. it's not always the firmware thats the issue,

it's the manufacturers poor workmanship as you say!

I understand that Nokia make these on a assembley line and yeah somethings bout to go wrong etc,

I was just fed-up have 2 of the e65's both with problems if you understand what I mean

I understand more people have problems too with certain handsets but my e65 just got me quite annoyed at the prospect of me having to get it fixed every 2-4 weeks !

Vodafone did actually tell me that they had problems with this handset prob why they removed it from there site in the end and why they gave me the free unlock code

Posted by BobaFett
if it would have been the barnding, imo we would have heared of more such bugs. did u hear anything in the uk? or maybe there wasnt much interest for e65 at vode. still, imo u had a faulty device

Posted by gabbyevs
hi all

been away for a few days phone still working well-never found that font setting though!

did u manage to sell yours miss?

Posted by Miss UK
Yep but not for as much as I would've liked tho

Posted by BobaFett

Posted by Miss UK

Bling E90 (52,000 euros)

Posted by BobaFett
looks disgusting imo

Posted by johnmcl7
Definitely disgusting but it's quite funny as the E90 is such a functional phone which the 'bling' is the opposite of.

John

Posted by BobaFett
omg, this guy raped e65 aswell

well, no offence, the zoo of god is really huge...

Anyways looks nice (if you like bling)

If I have one, mine will be kept in a nice leather pouch!!

Hi all,

Rumour has it that there is a new firmware on it's way for the E90 and it contains far more than just a few tweaks apparently it will jump to version V20 and we can expect a lot of good things.

My guess would be Demand Paging, Flash Lite 3.0 support in the browser and then i really don't know what else besides a new and improved version of Maps.

To be honest mine runs fine i really have had no problems other then when trying out GDesk which i have now removed. I have also stopped using Seven all ways on push e-mail as really don't need it. The speed and stability and are both excellent although Demand paging would increase both the speed and further increase battery life and em Tube currently handles My Tube without fault. It will of course be nice to have new firmware and any improvements are always welcome although i wouldn't say desperately needed well not in my case anyway.

I still have yet to see any devcie announced or coming soon that has got my attention although i am waiting for the OMAP3 chip to start appearing in devcies plus of course am curious to see what the S60 Touch UI delivers. But for now my E90 is serving me well and it will take something really special for me to change from it.

I wouldn't touch that if someone gave it to me on a plate

Anyone know when the E71 should be announced?

Posted by johnmcl7
I've been thinking of using the E90 for listening to music, I didn't bother with the N93 as the batterylife was too short.

I've had a look at the accessories and the Nokia Stereo Headset HS-34 AD-54 seems to be the way to go:

http://www.nokia.co.uk/link?cid=EDITORIAL_808067

As well as allowing me to use my own headphones the remote control would be handy, as far as I can tell there is nothing more advanced that is compatible with the E90. I do love the look of these:

http://www.nokia.co.uk/link?cid=EDITORIAL_805229

However at 70 quid they're rather pricey, I'm guessing the audio isn't that brilliant and I can't use them with a standard mp3 player.

Any downsides to the mp3 playback aspect I should be aware of?

Thanks,
John

Hi John

Personally i wasn't very impressed with the Music Player but i was using a less than perfect 2.5 to 3.5 adapter, but from what i have read some have got very good results using the Nokia BH-500 Bluetooth headset. It is a really good small unit that gives good volume and sound and allows you to plug your own headphones in and can be got for less than you have quoted from E-bay and from trusted sellers try First2Save.

hi everyone hope youre well

still enjoying my phone apart from the text-i like my picture themes but cant use them coz i cant see the text

is there any way to change the colour of it?

my old 7390 had a box come up of the picture theme when i was texting so i could see it all this just texts over the background

Posted by bavlondon2
I really want to get rid of my P1 but nothing has the right combintion of good features/build and battery life at the mo. (except for E90 which is too big for me)

So im thinking get an E61i and then just wait for E71. What you think?

To be honest if I'm going to go bluetooth I'd prefer to go wireless all the way which is why the BH-604's appealed. I've bought a Nokia remote for a fiver so I'll see how I get on with it, if I'm using it a lot I can then consider the BH-604's again.

bavlondon2 - I quite like the look of the E61i especially as I was using a BB 8800 before the E90, still quite fancy picking one up although the real killer for me on the E90 is the large screen.

No, you're supposed to tell me to leave it! Been reading some reviews and they all seem very positive, also been looking at stereo bluetooth dongles that would allow me to run my standard mp3 player through these headphones but can't find any aside from cheap ones from HK.

That's one of the cheap ones I was looking at, bit unsure of them though because if the quality isn't up to scratch then it's just a waste of money.

John

Posted by fatreg
it's the only one I've ever seen though!

Posted by johnmcl7
I've found a few different ones but they're much the same idea, I guess the bluetooth headphone market hasn't quite developed far enough that standard mp3 users would want to use them.

to be honest, i would go fot the e61i, mainly cos of the bigger screen. built in gps and cam arent that important for me and on some way, the multi meia features do fits better the n series

Posted by johnmcl7
Bear in mind it's not just multimedia features, the E71 has HSDPA which the E61i lacks as far as I'm aware.

John

Posted by BobaFett
i dont miss that much hsdpa, i tuned it off in my fone, didnt recognized that much faster data transfer ( or better tv quality, even i have it hd format ) i am on 3 in austria, maybe other operators offer better hsdpa

Posted by johnmcl7
I was toying with the idea of picking up an E61i to use instead of a 3 USB modem (don't know if that's even possible) but the lack of HSDPA is more of an issue when using the phone in a data capacity.

Really annoying that Vodafone data charges are such a joke...

John

Posted by BobaFett
imo atm e61i is the best for a proper usage ( next to e90 ) e51 is ( could be ) a great fone, but that small screen is a joke for business usage as i see.

any infos on the e71 batt?

Posted by johnmcl7
Not seen anything definite but the current thinking seems to be it won't get the same beefy battery the E61i has which has allowed them to get the size down.

Really impressed with the E90's camera, while I never expect a phone camera to replace any of my proper cameras I had to take a picture of something at work today when there was no camera available. The A4 print was surprisingly crisp, the camera is pretty much spot on for me in that it does the job without being too fancy. Just glad that despite the phone being an E series Nokia kept the camera.

John

Posted by BobaFett
true. cams wihtout cz tech are better imo. also the 2mp cams ( wihtout af ) offers great pix, so really dont get, why nokia messed around with cz ( or where and what did go wrong )

the e61i cam offers also good quality, not sure, but imo it has the same cam as n70.

Posted by johnmcl7
Anyone know how the HS-45, AD-54 headset (http://www.nokia.co.uk/link?cid=EDITORIAL_808067) is supposed to connect to the E90? It's listed as being compatible with the E90 but seems to only have a 3.5mm connector when the E90 has a 2.5mm connector? Am I being really stupid and missing something here?
