Actually IMHO just Demand paging and HSDPA would of satisfied my needs although i have now lost hope of Nokia releasing a real next gen in that format as really thought the N93i was a step backwards especially with that Razr style Keypad as the original N93 has one of the best and almost tactile keypads i have used, i could even type in Laptop mode fast.
I have to say no true N93 replacement the destruction of the E61 format for the E71 and Nokia are not making me a happy boy that's for sure. Thankfully the E90 will see me through for quite a while as my next devcie will definitely have an OMAP 3 Series chip or similar, other wise there really is no point upgrading for me. I'm really not sure if i want to go back to a touchscreen devcie again though even if i can appreciate that they have made huge improvement's in recent times and continue to.

The N93i was a real disappointment, they took out some of the best features of the N93 (I've never seen any other LCD screen that can be so easily viewed in sunlight) and keypad replacing them with inferior functions and made some of weaker aspects (battery) worse. Would like to see it redeveloped as an E-series phone by changing the keypad so it would work as a double tap keyboard when rotated 90 degrees, remove the optical barrel (while nice, it means you can't really type on the side, increase the battery and possibly the main screen size. I thought the form factor worked well as the hinge mechanism was very robust (moreso than a slide) and the two screen direction would also suit the dual keyboard.
I'm loving the large screen on the E90 although it's making using normal phones a lot more difficult as they seem so cramped. Tried the Sportracker application which I was really impressed with although my position seems to be fairly consistently about 20m to the West out.

Boba the E65 is a nice phone but after the trouble im afraid i need some more reliable!
Gabby, it is actually abit fiddley you have to make sure the sim numbers are saved in the phone and on the sim,
I used to get probs with contacts not saving lol
btw ive got a N95 8GB arriving this week got for £200 from Nokia.co.uk
Posted by gabbyevs
200! how come so cheap?
im having ne problem with my phone actually
tried downloading a theme think its an sis file and it keeps saing not supported
i thought sis was a symbian related file?
Posted by bearcub24
I did try an E65 before getting an E51 to replace my old E50 (all these E numbers aren't good for my bank balance) and found mine to have a loose slide action so sent it back. Everyone I've tried since has been rock solid so think I was just unlucky. Anyhow my E51 is proving reliable, just wish Nokia had maybe given it a slightly bigger screen.
Posted by gabbyevs
oh panic over i didnt have software installations settings right
Posted by BobaFett
@bearcup good point. one of the reasons i didnt go for e51, that screen is a joke, even e60 has got a bigger one. hows your standby time?
Posted by Miss UK
Gabby, tried downloading Virtual Radio to it..
mine wouldn't install it, the phones a pussy meow lol
I got it cheap cos Nokia made a error on there website
it's a really good phone I love it to its gotta make it last me a few years now

Posted by BobaFett
in n70, n95 etc this app is standard, if u have sy in your near who has one of those devices, u can test it on your own. its actually a normal radio and internet radio app
Posted by Miss UK
I installed that on my phone and it works
I don't know why it wouldn't on that crap E65
Posted by BobaFett
its more for the n series fones, those are more focused on multi media apps, e series are for biz as we know. but its alwasy possible to install it if it is
Posted by Miss UK
alot of the apps for the E65 have trouble installing due to cert errors I was getting apps saying the cert hd expired lol
Posted by BobaFett
thats easy to solve, just set the date back 8 i usually just set back the year ) then it will install, just dont forget to set it back up to date
ta ra
Posted by Miss UK
Never worked on mine though Boba
Posted by BobaFett
all the apps i tested i cheated this way, just few didnt worked. oh, did u set at the app manager "software installation" to "all" ?
Posted by Dogmann
Hi Miss UK
Also make sure you have gone into the App manager and then settings then set Software Installations to all and Online Certificate check to off that should help. But also as Boba has said also for some themes or apps setting the date back by 6 months to Year also solves the problem.

Marc im not gonna touch that phone anymore as im trying to sell it
it was a waste of spce btw,
if the voda firmware probs removed it prob will install no prob but I just don't have a clue, ive washed my hands on it,
it's one of the worst phones ive encountered!
Posted by gabbyevs
talking of said phone lol
ive managed to install font magnifier wot a god send i could hardly read my texts before!
Posted by Miss UK
I thought the font on the texts was about right..
btw im sure you can adjust the font size in settings
you also have a Voice aid too and it reads your texts out
theres 2 voices I think martin and ellen!
you can also download more if you connect to Nokia
Marc whats the main difference btw your E90 to my N95-2 then?
Posted by johnmcl7
The main differences (I believe) between the N95 and E90 are that the latter has the qwerty keyboard, much larger internal screen and larger battery. The E90 has no significant memory onboard (against the 8GB of the N95-2), no headphone socket (2.5mm instead of 3.5mm), no stereo speakers and a lower resolution camera (3.2MP rather than 5MP)

and Nokia price that up at £600ish..
it should be abit cheaper cos it lags all that..
I know it's a biz phone but it's abit overpriced for what it does innit
Posted by johnmcl7
Not entirely sure if you're joking or not - none of the features the E90 lacks are particularly expensive, a headphone socket is pennies, the different in cameras costs is low and even the 8GB memory is inexpensive these days with the low flash prices. The difference in RRPs actually makes the N95-8GB look rather expensive, bear in mind not only does the E90 have a similar 320x240 screen but it has a large high resolution internal screen which on its own cost quite a bit of money, it's just behind the standard resolution 800x480 used for UMPCs.
Additionally I would say the E90 has a higher quality build with the double hinged design.
Admittedly the N95 will come down in price relatively quickly because a lot of people buy them but that's not really a valid point as the E90 is a more specialist device.

I don't really think now ive got the phone that it's worth £500,
anyone who would pay that for it would be a idiot if you ask me.
£200 what I paid should be the price for it anyway,
Nokia would sell more at that price anyway!
it prob make the contracts better if they did as they would be cheaper for us
E90 is a nice device,
ive never seen one on display maybe it's too good for that who knows,
it is way overpriced though aswell.
3.2 camera should get out some nice pics out of it,
and having 2 screens and that good Keypad well
is it a heavy phone
Posted by johnmcl7
Well, reality sucks at times I'm afraid.
I didn't pay full price for the E90 either but you can't compare two phones based on a pricing error for one and the full price of the other.
John
Posted by Miss UK
if it is a error!
phones de-value rapidley bit like cars,
once you get them home they've dropped lol
you should add some pics up of that Phone it's is the E series topic afterall
Posted by Dogmann
@Miss UK
You seem to feel no phone should be more than £200 which is just not realistic just look at other smart phone prices TyTN 2 @£480 approx, W960 @£400+ very few smart phones are just £200 if any.
@johnmcl7
I don't know about your E90 but mine definitely has stereo speakers and excellent they are to when watching Movies and TV Shows. Although i feel the same that the flagship E90 should of had a 3.5mm jack and also the same Muisc Player as in the top N series devices. As an E series business device this is why it doesn't, it is also missing the TV out feature as well and demand paging and Flash Lite 3 although the last 2 may come in the next firmware release with any luck.

i lookoed everywhere in settings miss couldnt find anything about font size
Posted by Dogmann
Hi gabbyevs
If you go to settings, then General, then personalisation, then display second one down should be Font Size.
@Dicky
Well that's not good especially as it only looked like the connection to the screen was loose, anyway you can speak to them to find out what's taking so long. Kick up a fuss who knows you may get new replacement if you complain enough.

i emailed them the other day, they said " we have escalated your concerns to the relevant department for their further review."
that was a couple of days ago now
Posted by Miss UK
Dicky, give them a ring,
it shouldn't take them that long to sort that, I mean the Nokia service centre where I normally go to takes no more then 48hrs to fix handsets!
Gabby, do as Marc suggests I really don't wanna touch the E65 to make sure im making sense lol
Posted by gabbyevs
there isnt a personalition setting in general
Posted by Dogmann
@gabbyevs
OK well i don't have an E65 so was just saying what it is called on my device as just thought it would be the same as I'm sure it is on the N95 i had as well. Try going to settings and it should be under display options the same place as you alter the Light sensor, Power Saver time out and all those settings. I am assuming it has the option as Kerry said she changed hers i have my font size set to large as having such a large internal screen space is not an issue.

yeah they must be slightly different layouts
i cant seem to find it under display either
never mind
Posted by Miss UK
Perhaps some of the options are different your phones a Sim Free model whilst mine is a Vodafone branded handset lol
if your having probs with the themes being to dark and not being able to see the text, you may have to stick with the ones that you can see
or, you could contact Nokia on there website and see if text colour ios supported for it
I really can't be bothered getting out my E65 Gabby it's on fleBay ready for sale on Sunday
use the voice aid function for reading out texts btw
