@miss UK - H m m m . . . Looking at the item and it's PRICE, I think I can say that it has a FAIR-mark. Sandisk is cheaper . . .
I got an RCA-brand (top-seller brand in the 70's) (MP3-only, no FM tuner) for about US$ 19.00 last Christmas (though all stocks SOLD already) in this site:
http://www.circuitcity.com/cc[....]mp;N=20012898+20017363&c=1
Here's the EXACT unit before it went on SALE:

Im told my phone has a hardware fault and so im having it looked at by Nokia's Service centre rather then giving it to Vodafone to fix this Thursday,
it's switches off alot more then usual,
I was thinking maybe the Cable was loose in it !
Posted by BobaFett
ushould forget that fone. it caused u already so many troubles...
Posted by Miss UK

E65's are be-ridden with bugs and lots of probs
I posted my my prob on the Nokia Community lots of other people are having probs with there phone aswell !
Vodafone also told me when I sent the other back that,
they have alot of problems with them,
many are returned !
Nokia prob have rushed this phone into the market and it's got alot of probs

Does anyone know if Orange will be carrying the E90 at any point??
Posted by Miss UK
have you visited there shop or rang them to findout?
Boba, got myphone back...
the screen has been replaced,
ive now got a gap where the infrared is the fascia was covering it before lol
Posted by BobaFett
great
Posted by Miss UK
Yep Bobafett,
I relised after a look at the phone the person who took myphone appart didn't clip the fascia on it properly,
I had to take it off usings a old credit card and re-attach it again from the bottom, I had to do this 3x after I got alot of annoying specs of dust in the screen
I think they have re-added the new update again as it was completley reset
the phone cameback in a ok state although ive noticed they have marked the inside of the slider I dunno how on earth they did this
and too make things worse the phone switched off again earlier
ive a good mind to ask Vodafone for a change of phone
Posted by BobaFett
so the fone is working fine now, i do hope... do u have to debrand it again?
Posted by Miss UK
it's working touchwood..
however if it switches off again im gunna call Vodafone cos im fed-up with the darm thing
Posted by Miss UK

I will let Big Esato know more later
Posted by BobaFett

Posted by Miss UK
Boba send me a hammer I wanna trash this crap phone yeah,
it's gone back to it's roots switched off the other night lol
Posted by BobaFett
imo u dont have many options, i would bring it back to the shop, take another model and thats it... to be honest, i never heared anybody yet complaining cos of e65, your must be really faulty one
Posted by Dogmann
Hi Boba,
It's more likely something Voda have done in there infinite wisdom customizing the firmware IMO.

yeah, but are then all e65 faulty cos of the fw? kerry?
Posted by Miss UK
Boba ive had to of the buggers both boxed sealed brand new from Vodafone, the 1st one had alot of faults but this one just switches of..
I have all the repair papers done on it they've replaced the screen,
I don't know what they did the second time as it went to Nokia.
im hoping if I take it into repair again they'll just replace it with another,
altho im very tempted to get rid of it.
It's not worth much £100 if im lucky lol
I checked if it was locked, it is
I don't know if the firmware the issue im getting the hint that
it's the slider mechanism.
it could be a faulty flex cable or something,
I don't know if Noka changed this anyway cos ive no note on the service paper, it's lasted 4 weeks btw but switched of the other night which made me angry GRRR!

Ok, I'm about to pull the trigger on an E90 - had my N93 for a while and actually liked it, switched to a Blackberry 8800 simply because I needed to be more familiar with the handset but now ready to come back to Nokia. I know there's a slightly newer on the E90 on the way but looking to get an E90 fairly cheap, any reason I shouldn't buy one?
The reason I ask this is if I've seen a few complaints about the Vodafone E90 and some speaker issues.
Thanks,
John
Posted by BobaFett
at e90 the one of the most important point is the form factor, cos its really not a small fone. imo it depends on your needs, for what u would use it. if u like the qwerty keypad, u can also give a try for e61i
Posted by Dogmann
Hi John,
The speaker issues and the keyboard touching the screen where only problems on the initial release which is why Nokia stopped selling them until they resolved these problems.
I don't know how bad the Voda branding is but if it is anything like the N95 8GB it appears to be very little until it's unbranded and then you notice a huge difference. It is very easy to change the product code and flash it with Generic firmware. This will invalidate the Voda warranty but not the Nokia warranty is my understanding although the Voda ones seem to have a horrible VodaFone badge just above the front keypad on the latest versions i have seen.
I have had my current E90 for about 7 weeks now and have not had any problems at all, it really is rock solid stable and even running Seven all ways on push E-Mail over WiFi 20 hours a day the battery lasts with just an overnight charge. It can run Blackberry connect and they only missing function is you can't respond to PIN Messages although you can receive them.
But it is an either love it or hate type of device i love it and don't find it as large or heavy as some are happy to suggest, the large internal screen and full qwerty keyboard can't be beaten IMO if that's what you need and are looking for. Web browsing is a joy with no side scrolling required and properly encoded films or TV shows in full wide screen are of excellent quality.
Only really you can decide if it is the right devcie for you or not a lot really depends on what you want it to be able to do for you.
Marc

My E65 has never had an issue with it's cable, I've had it switch off once since July 2007, and it has not done it since the firmware upgrade.

Dogmann, thanks for the detailed reply - you've pretty much provided exactly what I was looking for, confidence the device does what it says on the tin. I did consider the E61 but I don't like the form factor, the E70 was tempting but couldn't find one for a reasonable price and I would have preferred a larger screen. I really liked the keyboard and general form factor of the HTC Wizard and Hermes (XDA Mini S and Vodafone VPA III) but didn't like the hardware, I think Windows mobile needs a grounds up rewrite as the market has changed from PDA only devices to pretty much combined PDA/phones.
Anyway, placed my order for the E90 earlier this afternoon and reading your post I think I've made the right decision. Amusingly at work the other week someone was commenting on the fact that I only had 'large' devices, 17 inch laptop, Olympus E-3 and a Nokia N93...the E90 will fit right in.

is your handset a Voda one?
Posted by mob453
No, it's from 3 UK and is Black.
Posted by BobaFett
funny, normally 3 branded fones are more crap then voda...
Posted by Dogmann
@johnmcl7
Well congratulations and i hope it serves you well if you need any assistance feel free to ask there is a how to debrand guide in this section of the forum and if you need a UK product code just ask and i will dig it up for you if you decide to debrand.
I actually still miss my N93 and the E90 feels smaller than that as well it's definitely thinner although maybe a little longer.

Posted by mob453
I'm running generic nokia firmware. Had no issues since going generic. My brother has a red e65 and also has no issues.
solid and usable.
