@Miss UK

May 2009 is a life time away in mobile tech as things evolve so fast there will be devices by May 2008 that will make the N95 8GB be outdated. As next Year we will start to see the OMAP Series 3 chip start being used with all the improvements that will bring, in fact i doubt you will even be able to find a N95 8GB by May 2009.

Boba, Maybe Nokia will introduce a new Series by May 2009

I did here that 8MP phones will be launched next year btw,
Motorola are bringing something out apparentley

I think the N95's will be around 2009 still they prob be on PAYG dead cheap too if Nokia allows that !

Vodafone let you do trade-ins on your old phone so I read I think they give you £100 for your handset

they can have my E65 if the case

Hi Boba,

I believe there is a new E61 type device due next year that will have HSDPA and GPS no idea which processor it will have but i would imagine at least the OMAP 2420 or possibly even the OMAP Series 3 chip and would guess also an increase to 128mb Ram. This devcie will definitely be of interest to me as i love the format and functionality this devcie brings and an improved spec version may well tempt me.

I am of course i am interested to see just what the touch UI will also deliver but personally am not sure i want to return to a touchscreen device or not but don't think there will be a newer version of the E90 anytime soon but do believe the the E90 will also get Demand paging in the next update as the Flagship E series device i would be very surprised if it doesn't get this.

Although i am more than happy with my N95 8GB and SU-8W combo i do fancy returning to the E90 due to the large internal screen especially for watching films and Video's along with the better web browsing it brings. Having had one before i really didn't find it to big or heavy and the additional options for home screen plug ins really are an advantage. Also since starting to use Seven all ways on push E-Mail this is now something else i would like to keep on using even if it is no longer free and will require a subscription i really feel it is worth the small cost involved as it really is a great app IMO as was so easy to set up and just works so well even on the N95 8GB.

One of the other killer apps of this year i feel is also em Tube that again just works so well including the use of the accelometer with auto rotation into landscape mode without the need to self sign it. I am also very interested to see what other services OVI brings to our devcies. I really do believe with the increased processors and graphics and faster HSDPA the Internet on our devcies is set to reach new levels and a greatly improved user Internet experience exciting times ahead IMO and one that Nokia still seems to be leading the way in.

This last 18months for me and my move to S60 has been a very satisfying experience and one i feel will continue to improve the other manufacturers have a lot to catch up with and equal never mind surpass but i wouldn't rule out another OS or devcie if this is achieved but it really will need to be something pretty special move me away from S60 which is currently my OS of choice.

Marc

Posted by BobaFett
how is tomtom on e61? did anybody tested how long the batt runs if tomtom is continualy on?

Posted by Dogmann
Hi Boba

Whilst i still had my E61 it is the only devcie that i could run Tom Tom on without the need to plug in a in car charger and still have plenty of battery left at the end of a journey in both directions. As you know the 1500aMh Li-Polymer battery on the E61 just goes on for ever and is one of the best that gives one of the best battery lifes i have ever experienced from any any smart phone. It can even give a dumb phone a run for longevity IMO.

WOW!! What a beauty! Sleek, stylish and powerful! And it has FP-2 It looks like a E61i mixed with a E51.

Posted by BobaFett
yes, nokia mixed it, that was my first thought too. i was reading somehwere, it will have buitl in gps and a 3mp cam

Posted by GUCCI.011
That sounds really good Eseries is going to look and be a lot better if Nokia carries on like this, is this phone going to have the TI OMAP2430 chip?

Posted by Miss UK
Does anyone know of any Working Radio application preferabley worldwide like Dance music for the E65? Virtual Radio will just not install on it even though it works lol

Posted by BobaFett
isnt virtual radio installed in the fw?

Posted by drgopoos
WHen are they going to put a touch screen in

Posted by Miss UK
Boba, sorry I Mean't Visual Radio lmao, there isnt Visual Radio on here I dont think.

Posted by BobaFett
sorry, my mistake....

Posted by Dogmann
@drgopoos

When there good and ready they won't realise some half arsed products like UIQ3 did, they will make sure it works as it should, but it should be some time this year for those that want a Touch Screen device.

No. Its too thin to fit such a chip. Im sure it will be freescale.

Wb Dogmann,..

The only thing that E90 now needs is the FW N95 8Gb got few days ago..

Posted by BobaFett
an infos, how many e90 were sold? how successful was it actaully?

Posted by GUCCI.011
Marc
Why the return to E90?

Posted by intelegent115
I was searching for the same info, but no luck. E90 is not a phone for masses due to it`s price and market. But price could be argued, N95 is / was also expensive but it was still a hit.

There were some issues with E90 regarding funny sound / hissing during calls, prints of keys on internal screen,.. thats why some decided to skip it. I am currently enjoying my second E90 and must add that i find it as best phone out there. Once that screen shows you it`s colors, it is hard to walk away from it

Still i am eager to see what E71 will be like. I got E90 instead of E61i due to the lack of hsdpa and 3.2 mpx.

Posted by BobaFett
e90 has great features, but i would never use it as a fone, i love bg fones, but thats just oversized for me. then rather e61 or the i version

Posted by Dogmann
@GUCCI.011

Well the only reason i sold my first was it was from the UAE so had no UK warranty which i found unacceptable. Then when they released the next version 02 mucked up my order so i got the N95 8GB instead. The only real fault i had with the E90 was the Music Player which is why i bought an iPod to go with my E61.

Having found the iPod was still better than the N95 8gb so really wanted it to watch Video's and films nothing can come close to the E90, which I'm sure will get Demand Paging and even Flash Lite 3.0 in the next firmware although even if it doesn't there is more than enough Ram and em Tube works perfectly on the E90 even on the internal screen although not full screen.

Also i don't find the E90 to be either that big or heavy it is no longer than a N95 with the flip open and just love all the extra active standby plug ins the E series has. So have now got the devcie i really wanted in the first place and should last me quite a while before something better comes out.

Understandable,i remember you had mentioned you wanted another E90, it realy is a great multimedia device maybe not for music,although im more in to the Nseries the E90 is a device i wouldn't mind owning. Congrats on your new E90. . . . . Again. lol

Posted by *Jojo*
@dogmann - Congrats ! Nice EXCHANGE

@all - Well, honestly . . . I find the COMMUNICATOR-series of Nokia as it's TOP-of-the-LINE fone models . . . just like that of 's P-series Nokia's N-series, are like of 's K-series fone models to ME

Between the N95 8GB and the Nokia E90, I will surely GO for the latter . . . !

Posted by BobaFett
u should give a try then for an e series fones the new ones are also very promising.of coures it depends on the usage, cos as u know, the e series is more biz focused

Posted by Dogmann
Hi Boba,

To be honest if the pictures we have seen of the E71 are for real and that is the replacement for the E61 i really am pleased i have gone for the E90. I am very disappointed they have made both the screen and even worse the keys smaller it may well appeal more to the masses but not me. IMO they should of left it the same size given it the new colour as i do like that and just upped the spec why change something that was working so well it just doesn't make sense, plus they will have the expense of re tooling a factory to.

as i see, my last "hope" for e71 is, that they put at least that beautiful high res screen what e60, e90 etc has got. i do hope for nokia

Posted by Miss UK
Marc did you swap your N95 for the E90?
not been around last 2 days

btw join the Mocha Club

Vodafone cut my phone off the other day for non payment,
I thought very odd when they have got my Direct Debit details and had billed £3.66p off me last month..

I could understand why but myphones back on now,
didn't like the letter I recieved off them today and I have now emailed them to contact me rather then cut me of if they have any payment probs silly lot lol

btw has anyone found me a Application for my E65 missing Global radio eracticley

Posted by BobaFett
so miss, how do u like dora?

Posted by Miss UK
it looks ok,
prob better then the E65 for the Camera no doubt

Posted by Dogmann
@Miss UK

Yes swapped my N95 8GB for an E90 and no regrets at all, i only got the N95 as 02 mucked my order and still couldn't find one anywhere else. It appears mine is a later version as on the box says it came with SW 07.24.0.3 which has only just been passed, all the feet are even and there are no grease marks appearing on the screen so all good.

Just waiting for my Buggatti case to arrive and trying to decide what size card i want to get think 6GB should do for films and Video's and my Documents and PDF's but then 8GB means extra space.

is the gps rec better after a fw upgrade?

Posted by Miss UK
Marc, Well you seem chuffed hopefully you will keep it till next year
btw does it take those Transflash cards?

I was thinking about buying a 4GB / 6GB for myphone but I don't know if it would work in it, i'd much rather have a MP3 player though.

Have my eyes on a Sony one ideally,
but after Playing with iPods/iTouch's and iPhones in the Apple shop the other day im spoilt for choice, think i'll just pay my debts off first then decide from there, besides I need to get Houseware items

Posted by BobaFett
@miss u mean e90?

Posted by Dogmann
Hi Boba,

From what i have read the E90 now also has A-GPS which has made it faster to get a satellite lock but as you know i just don't rate or use any devcies built in GPS functions and really doubt i will any time soon. Even if they do enable Tom Tom to work with the internal GPS i am sticking with my Holox BT-321 as a better sloution as it is both more powerful and accurate IMO.

Oh and by the way i just bought a 8GB Micro SDHC card @£43.90 delivered which works out just under £5.50 per GB which is quite amazing as just how much cheaper memory cards have become and seem to continue to fall when the 4GB cards came out they were nearly £8 per GB.

thats a great price :-9 will it make the fone slower u think?

Posted by Dogmann
Hi Boba,

No it shouldn't do as i did check around the forums for any reports and the read write speeds are fast so really shouldn't pose any problems, well at least i hope not anyway. Plus it comes with a USB 2.0 SDHC card reader in the bundle for transferring stuff from my computer.
