oh yes, it really works! The screen brightens outside, dims inside. U can change the intensity of the light. U knw ur the second person who's asked that! Fiy, the batt stays longer when its bright.

Posted by BobaFett
u mean if the screen is more bright, it doesnt drain the batt faster?

Posted by bickit
the opposite. But when my screen is @ its brightest the standby time ws only affected by 10% @ most. I really need a 2nd batt, or a more powerful batt. Regarding the batt, would a solar charger help? Its about to get very hot down here!

Posted by BobaFett
hm.. donnow if those solar solutions are really effective. with one charging, how long does the batt run?

Posted by bickit
i have no idea! I surfed the internet while chargin the batts for 4hrs.

Posted by BobaFett
What mem card came with?

This message was posted from a 6233

Posted by bickit
it didnt have 1, rather, the shop didnt gimme the official card, so i bought a 1gb card. And filled it with music in the process! Wish the mp3 player was better though. Are there better alternatives? I read on anthr site that all the Eseries handsets have low volume with their mp3 players, could that b true?

Posted by BobaFett
Actually i liked the mp3 player in e50, do fitted my needs

This message was posted from a 6233

Posted by bickit
well mine is ok, bt its just the volume.; its too low outdoors. Nw, did the e50 have good complimentary software? And was your antivirus a trial?

Posted by BobaFett
The fw was great, no bugs. I deleted the antivirus, never used it in my other formes symbians

i wonder if thr is any voip software for nokia e60.
pl post if thrz one

@Prom1 and all,

Well if your are talking about fast boot up times with the latest V20.058 firmware on my N93 boot up time to the main display screen and ready to use is only 24seconds.

I also disagree that the most stable S60 3rd Edition phone is E61/E62 as in my experience in the four months i have had my N93 I have not had a single freeze, crash or restart.

Now with the latest Firmware not only has start up time been greatly reduced but every app opens immediately on clicking it no delay or lag and when you rotate the screen to Laptop/Landscape mode this is also immediate and the front Camera no longer activates after using the main Camera either. IMO the 2 firmware upgrades Nokia have released so far have resolved virtually all the issues and the only thing i want is YahooGo to make it perfect but the built in E-Mail programme handles my Yahoo account with no problems and have Automatic Retrieval set between user defined hours and frequency so really can not see the need for any 3rd party app for this.

Marc

did any of u uesd the avaya app ?

Posted by bickit
replies in order; 1st, i have never seen avaya on my cd or phone what is it anyway! 2nd, the e60.has its own voip internet call software built in, all u need are provider configs. 3rd, the eseries software update is almost out if not out already. It should make the phones more stable. Lastly, i wish nokia's next batch of Eseries have the 352mhz processor, ours r getting outdated.

Hi and good morning!
Anyone here tried "autopilot" by killer on e61 or similar? Great answering machine - you can assign individual messages for different people and forget about your networks voicebox... but when it's running in background on my e61 every other app shows a flashing bright square on screen - annoying that! Annoying! Got a refund though as neither handango nor killer can figure it out. Needless to say phone alright otherwise! (it is an e61...) ???

Posted by bickit
thats something i havent heard of. Maybe it means there's an app running in the background? Nw i have problem with my browser(s). I can mark my mail but i cant delete my messages! The delete button doesnt do jack and me inbox is full. help!!!

Posted by BobaFett
The mails will be deleted if u connect to the server after marked for deletion

This message was posted from a 6233

Posted by bickit
how do i do that? Prom1's settings didnt work on profimail, so im using opera 8.65, (which by the way is a must have 4 eseries owners; its faster than the oss browser and cheaper too!) and nthn works. Suggestions?

Posted by BobaFett
Why dont u use the built in email client?

This message was posted from a 6233

Posted by bickit
i tried but its the same! Can some1 please tell me a step by step config? Im on a yahoo acc. This is one feature i was keen on bt nw things are complex!

Posted by BobaFett
all i got is this

http://sites.mobile.yahoo.com/services?

Posted by bickit
im goin 2 have to gt that software when i get to a normal computer. The stantard email client worked after retreving all messages in my inbox and managing 2 delete them, it then tells me cant connect 2 the server! All the settings are correct, but why is it still not working?

Posted by BobaFett
Maybe your operator doesnt support the access

This message was posted from a 6233

Posted by bickit
ok, i conductecd an experiment and i found out that 1 operator does! But not officially. I just happened to put the precise settings in. Im quite pleased! Umts is coming in march so faster dwnloads comin my way soon. Thanx 4 every1s help on email. By the way, how do i keep it on auto update?

Posted by BobaFett

Posted by bickit

Posted by BobaFett

I just bought an E-50, the font is very small. I tried to figure out how to make it bigger but could'nt succeed !

any one can help !

[ This Message was edited by: bo_sagoor on 2007-01-15 11:31 ]

Posted by BobaFett
there is no option to make bigger, only in the browser. i do liked mine, but the joy wnet wrong after 3 weeks. how about yours?

Posted by ali_baba
E50 has a 2.2" screen with QVGA resolution. Large resolution for a small screen translates to even smaller fonts!

What to do, you gotta face the music...

Posted by BobaFett
thats right, but imo its really not a big deal to put a feature in the fone where text size is possible to set

It'd hav been easy if Symbian could give direct access to it's system core, just as WindowsMobile does with its internal Registry.

Posted by maggflodd
Hi there!
Would say fonts are coming... Patience!
Anyhow... Was playing with profimail's file explorer on my e61 today (buy it buy it steal it get it... MUST!): INTERESTINGLY, when I checked c/cache I found almost 3.5 mb of wap-browser nonsense!
3.5 mb!!! And, mind you, I empty cache/history after almost every session! Deleted all that nonsense, and BANG, gained indeed 3.4 mb in phone's memory... That's a song or 2!
mind you, I mostly use opera... 3.5 mb of wasted space! E61 ... Love it! And f*ck me, it's vodafone-branded, and it's still ppphan-tassss-tick!

Posted by BobaFett
did u get used to e61 keypad? i gave it a try and its areally great fone, buti couldnt get used to the qwert keypad. the other disappointing thing is for me the screen, it would have deserved a high res one imo

Posted by Dogmann
@Boba,
I think you need help you are becoming seriously screen resolution obsessed LOL.
Now seriously just get your self a nice black N80 with the latest firmware and a Nokia Bluetooth Keyboard if you need a lot of Data input and of course an extra battery and i think you will at last be happy.

BobaFett, E60 doesn't hav camera right? Its ok 4 u? Why don u go 4 an E70 (if u can liv up wit its gull wing keyboard)?

Posted by BobaFett
i dont take care of th cam. e70 isnt for my taste, i prefer the traditional block fones. bit afraid of the joystivk, cos i had bad experiences with e50.

YEAH, took me all of 2 days to get used to keys. Admittedly, I have fairly small hands, but still,
once you get it, it's great - even one-handed texting is fine. Give it some time and you realize how well balanced the e61 is.The screen is brilliant - whatever the specs! You can watch entire movies on full screen and not end up cross-eyed (converted psp movie to 3gp...hardly a difference)/ or browse the web forever... which gets me to the only minus: nokia's glorified new web browser...
Looks great on paper and when you first try it, but for serious surfing it's too slow to navigate and the layout can be confusing. but there's opera 8.65 and opera mini!! Btw, I DID get nokia's bluetooth keyboard for serious typing on the go. Pretty good. Ended up using it at home too when I have to edit work stuff - saving me the file transfer to pc and then back to phone and back to work, and so on. su-8w... Folds neatly into a cool little box just a bit bigger than the phone. Fits comfortably into any jacket pocket (where you don't need an iPod cause the e61's musicplayer* rocks big time!). So, all goooood (can't, currently, see SE luring me back... Not with e61i on the horizon, i.e. camera on board) *=beware firmware upgrades! New EU regs mean new firmwares on all phones, not just Nokia, WILL limit max volume! btw II) if you want flashier musicplayer alternative, avoid xsound's and Alon's products... Go for lcg-jukebox! Downloads album art and lyrics, has internet radio built in and is way faster and more intuitive! Alon, e.g., takes forever to rescan for new songs or load playlists. But native player is great anyway - and even the jukebox has disadvantages: not as loud and doesn't play aac.

Posted by BobaFett
i used suw8 ( as i recall its the name ) for 6680 and n70. its a really great acc, but but i didnt get, why isnt there a plug for the fone, it would have been better imo, cos the bt drains the batt faster. of course bt and plug would be the best solution.

what about your batt standby time?

Battery standby is great - and that's me, using gprs a LOT (wildest west of Ireland; no proper broadband, patchy 3g etc...), using opera, using e61 as modem etc... Over xmas we were without electricity for a day and a half (stormy...).
E61 our entertainment center for that time. Played loud music for 5 hrs+ , then fell asleep watching/listening to uncut avi-Fifth Element-movie... next day did calls, wrote/sent 5 A4-ish long emails, browsed esato, played the brilliant 3d constructo for an hour and bluetoothed rm songs to my wife's K750... Still had more than a bar which got me over the holidays... (and that was after 3 months of heavy use! by no means a fresh battery).
I usually only charge incar to and from work for 20 mins, and once a week give it a full overnighter.
But yeah, cable for keyboard would be great, as would a usb-in as on e62, I agree!

Nokia E61/62 has a wobbly QWERTY KB. The keys though spaced well, are quite loose and doesn't feel good for my lil big fingers. When it comes to QWERTY KB phones, the best I've seen is HTC Herald WindowsMobile PocketPC.

One main gripe I hav bout Nokia smartfons is dat, none has **simultaneous USB sync/charge** support. That's very poor as it'd hav been easy to charge ur fon frm ur PC, or laptop when on road!
Next feature is a **TV out** option. Then must hav feature is puttin in a **3.5mm stereojack**.

Atleast they shud've put in these features into E series fons, as its 4 demanding business men for whom standardization is very important.

By d by Nokia is gonna release E65 soon. It has already got FCC approval.
