yer i thought they would, yes it looks nice on a 1080p tv, i using mine on a 42inch Samsung but its not 1080p so i kept it in 720p looks horrid using component in 1080i

I got the red ring of death the other day, which I wasn't happy about. But for the last month or so, all i get was "to play this disc, please put it in a 360"
Now I spoke to Makro (where I got it from last March) they said they won't take it back and I have to ring xbox. So i did and when I finally got through, they said my warranty has ran out and I'll have to pay for it to be fixed.
I still have the receipt, anyone any ideas as to what I can do???

yep, all xbox's have a 3 year warranty,. got mine shortly after release,and got the 3 red lights late last year, got it fixed free of charge. took 7 weeks mind you. Although i did get a free wireless controller out of it, as i moaned

Rayt, my 360 isn't reading my discs anymore!!
It tells me to put the disc into a 360 console.. well durrh.
Performed disc maintenance and everything on my HDD and still the same thing.
But it does however read normal DVDs... not tried CDs yet though.
Anyone offer any help on this?

Arien, i had this problem quite recently. Now it seems fine but i did overload it it by ejecting/closing the tray repeatedly (to get disc working) then i got a red light and hey presto seems fine.
The only other thing I had done previously (that I can't see it affecting but u never know) was move the console to a different height within my cabinet. I've put it back and not had the problem since. Maybe something to do with the amount of ventailation at the back???
Anyway, cos i've been off work for 3 days, i completed Bioshock again - yay

Yeah before it used to work with a few tray opens and closes but nothing at all now! Grr.
And there is a good metre of ventilation space at the back of the console so I doubt that's my problem.
Anyway I called up M$ support and they say they need to collect it but tbh I'd rather they didn't because I don't really want to pay.
Want to see if I can solve it at home first.

The extended 3 years doesn't cover that :\\

My mates never had the RRoD problem either, but after being on his 4th console, he kicked off, and got it for gratis.

Actually El Robin... you might have a plan there.
Because I'm only going to sell it or not have it repaired and just let it gather dust, how exactly would I induce the RRoD and have M$ repair it? If I soak it I'm sure they'd catch on all too quickly.

Why not mate, do it, if you got 3 red lights then when they get it you'll get some other refurbished one, fixing your dvd drive problem.
