Came across this news article and its had me thinking about the ability in humans to hibernate, here's what happened.
A Japanese man survived three weeks in the outdoors without food or water by falling into a state similar to hibernation he was subsequently rescued and appears to have suffered no lasting ill effects.
Mitsutaka Uchikoshi had almost no pulse, his organs had all but shut down and his body temperature was 71 degrees Fahrenheit or about 21.6 Celsius when he was discovered on Rokko mountain in late October, said doctors who treated him at the nearby Kobe City General Hospital. He had been missing for 24 days.

If you believe, anything is possible, the Japanese and Chinese can be very strong minded.
Just my opinion!

I believe that. Maybe the sudden drop in temperature triggered something primal - we are mammals afterall and lots of mammals hibernate.
I know of a few people on Esato who went into a state of hibernation just waiting for the P990i to be released!

no they didn't... they posted endlessly about "when is it coming?"! (which then put ME into a trance!)
anyway, yes, I do believe it possible to induce a state of trance for a period of time to slow the metabolic processes and thus prolong life in difficult situations
I wouldn't go as far as saying "anything is possible" though and obviously even this method would have its limitations

I still don't believe people can be hypnotised. If so, I would never let it happen to me.

Yes but the person in question here mentions nothing about going into a trance,he has no memory of what happened to him?he just technically passed out due to the cold.
A normal person would and should have died in those extreme circumstances,(3 weeks in this case) what made his body go into hibernation mode and how did he survive?

Thats right. Normally you wouldn't survive much longer than a week without water.

Wow, pretty cool.
It shows that there are still some things we don't even know about ourselves!
