According to Gizmodo the Apple iphone will be announced this coming monday!

Im still finding this bit of news a bit hard to swallow as the iphone wasn't expected to be announced until MacWorld in the new year.

The source on Gizmodo claims they guarantee a Monday announcement,so we shall have to wait and see!

what do you think?

No chance. I don't know what to make of all this Iphone talk. Should Apple enter the market? Probably not as it's so sacturated already.
Judging by Apple's pricing I can't see any Iphone being cheap either. We shall see though I suppose, I would still prefer my P990I as SE and Symbian are well grounded in what they do.

No doubt I will lust after one like crazy when it's released though.

If their is truth in the rumour of the device having dual battery's then I really will think it's rubbish, why not develop a fuel cell in that case rather then doubling the poison buried in the ground when the battery packs up? I'm not an eco warrior but doubling battery's isn't the way to go.

I am with you on that one. Who cares. We got the Walkman phone.

You are right walkman phones are here but there is something about having an I Phone just like there is about a Vertu, Serene, Blackberry etc....

There isnt anything quite like an original....

I wont be getting the Iphone but sure be interested in playing with one....

Sure there are plenty of music phones out there but currently they all suck. My w810i is an ok phone but it could be a WHOLE LOT better and it wouldn't take that much to do it. For one, the software for moving music to the phones is horrible (or non-existant) and iTunes works pretty flawlessly. Also, the software interface is horrible and clumsy at best, something Apple is very good at designing. And if they could integrate it with other OSX apps it'll be really nice. I can't wait to get mine!

I agree. Apple´s design and ease of use are unique thus the iphone will also have unique, very good and easy to use software combined with great design and up to date or totally new hardware. Im sure it will look great, what im most curious about is the touchscreen (3,5 inches) interface and the virtual clickwheel. Is it gonna be a smartphone?? I heard they were building a mac os version for the iphone. And what about the camera? how many pixels? autofocus?
I´m really curious about this phone and really want for it to be announced on monday, i think its kinda hard to belief, but we´ll see!!

How do they manage to keep pictures of their as-yet-unannounced products off the internet...I mean has seen several leaks for a phone which will probaably available in Q2 next year while the iPhone will immediately be shipped after it's announcement.

Apple is known for being VERY secretive about its new products and projects. Apple probably has a very close group of people under effective surveillance, i mean, apple is been there for decades and no spy pict of their products has reached out to the press or the internet before their permission. We get ´info´ about the products but never a picture. I dont think its a bad system, it builds antecipation and the products are put in the market usually right after the official announcement. I think its much better than announcing a product and only releasing it 3-4 months later like does, much less irritating.

Can you expand on this statement? Are you implying that Apple products are expensive?

If so, you obviously haven't done any recent like-for-like price comparisons, and are basing your comment on the historical myth.

If you had, you will see that on MP3 players, desktop computers and laptop computers, Apple are the same or even cheaper than their competitors, when comparing the same specification hardware...

This is apples first phone...who's to say it won't be full of problems too? I guess we're all gonna have to wait till whenever it's out until we can start comparing walkman to iphone....

tiny tiny tiny,

full of problems and apple?

dont really go in the same sentence..

the amount of R and D and testing that had gone into an apple product is insane.

take my mac for example. its been turned off once in 6 months so i could add some ram to it.

other than that its ran flawlessly. more than can be said for my old pc.

rock on with an apple phone i say.

Hi all,
Although i own no Apple Products currently i do believe my next Laptop will be a Mac especially now you can run Windows on one. To suggest the iPhone will be buggy on launch as it's there first phone must be a joke.

As Fatrg has pointed out the amount of R&D and dare i say it proper Beta testing IMO means on launch it will be a fit for purpose product. As should be for all products on launch IMO even i am very curious to see what delights they hold as by all accounts there will be two versions one of which will be a smart phone. So that's everyone with a Mac and a need for smart phone to start with that will buy one. They have the ability with their design ethos and flare to carve them selves a large slice of the market quite quickly.

Well the only apple thing i've ever owned is an Ipod and its broken 4 times now but i guess its a completly different thing from a laptop or a phone so I guess i'll have to retract that statement

In terms of price, i read on gizmodo dot com that the iphone (non smart, withouth the qwerty keyboard) will cost 499 dol while the smart one will cost 639 dol (or something like that). These prices are not higher than the competition, a k790 costs 499dol in US (with no memory card and the iphone will have 4gb or 8gb of memory), and i´m sure a P990 is more expensive than 639 dol. Apple is inside or even lower than the market´s prices.

Actually, if you look back at the original post, Gizmodo never said Apple iPhone - it just said iPhone. The word Apple magically appeared in the first post of this thread!!
