that shows how weak is the protection paypal/ebay provides you against these people. They should also inform at least the reason why the account was closed...

Well~
Being a chinese guy from HK, i feel very sorry to hear all of these, and also feeling very angry about these ppl~ This is not only embrassing us (other HKers), but also demaging our image to world wide ppl....
In fact, it doesn't only happen to other countries, these fake product also being sold on streets and malls in HK~
The lucky thing is, most of HKers who love IT stuff always discuss these kinds of matter on local forums, so many of us could identify the fakes and reals~ Having said that, there are still quite a few victum around...
The difficult bit about ebay is, you cant see the product before you pay except its photo. This make it difficult to identify whether that is real or not.
I mean, this sort of problem doesn't only exist in HK or China, there are also products , eg. GPS Bluetooth receiver (discovered when i bought one from ebay recently), that looks almost the same but are totally different branding or in varying built quality being sold on UK ebay by UK local seller.
The messeage i wana bring across is: there are always ppl who wants to maximise there profit with fake product, not only HK or Chinese ppl. The advice i would give is, be careful and always look for comments from forums.
Hope you all good luck~! cheers

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayIS[....]m=&item=220102631817&rd=1&rd=1
The plastics are flimsy, the sound is horrible!
It cost me less than 30 euros, but I am really pissed of!
What can we do about it?
We must inform prevent other people from buying these crap!
Damn them!

I already spread the word in 3 greek forums.
Counterfeit-BT-headset buyers, UNITE!

@sergioszx
you should start a paypal dispute inmediately if he does not reply you get the money from paypal if he does reply you will have to send the item back and they will refund you. i am sure by now paypal is aware of the counterfeit problem so my guess is 9 out of 10 you win... good luck

Thank you for your interest.
He sent me an e-mail stating that there was a "mistake" with his supplier.
The headset is tottaly useless. I cannot understand how they make it, to mold all the parts requires very expensive machinery and knowledge.
And I am sure that a lot of different models are being produced. And let's take into consideration all the packaging, literature, manuals etc!
They have big costs for sure! Why don't they make a product of their own?
It just does not make sense to me.
PS: I got a full refund for the headset.

Okay, after having read so many complaints about this issue, I am sharing my criteria of buying stuff from ebay, especially on electronics.
I think everybody knows that there are a lot of faked earphones around, but still a lot of people bought them from Ebay or some other auction websites. Why? because they are CHEAP. extraordinarily CHEAP. But my view to this is: if you buy a faked, your performance/price ratio will become zero, because you will never wanna harm your own ears by those crappy earphones.
So my experience to this is: stay away from the dealers on ebay, go to local electronics store or Amazon for the genuine ones. NEVER HARM EITHER YOUR EARS OR YOUR HEART.
At last, if you are still crazy about some Japanese or Asian gadgets which might not be available either in North America or Europe, do some research on reliable websites other than wasting time bidding on ebay.
If you know some Japanese, go to www.amazon.jp.
if you don't, choose reliable websites in English like
www.yesasia.com
www.audiocubes.com
www.play-asia.com
etc.
I think you will have some fresh experience.

you just have to be careful with who you buy it from, make sure the ebay seller has a good reputation and has been around for a long time. read all the negative feedback he has.
as i mentioned i got a refund from one hk seller and then finally bought an original hbh-ds970 from another hk seller. not everything is fake and yes you save a lot of money.
as someone mentioned you can get fakes even from prestigious stores so you have to always watch out. and read the warranty terms.
@sergiosxz i am glad to hear you got your refund. and the answer to your question about producing fake items. if you speak to an electronics expert you will be surprised to findout how cheap the production costs really are for an average quality good. So if they open a brand of their own (admitting it is a cheap copy) they will have to lower their price a lot, because people will know thy are not buying a top quality product. so why not copy everything and sell at the high price as if it was a top quality product. look at these copies for instance:
http://www.chinatronic.com/ba[....]4-player-bluetooth-p-1824.html
same thing with the fake memory cards, batteries, etc...

Hello!!
I've been reading this interesting topic.
Well, the reason of my post is to say that I've bought one headset at eBay from egun007, and they were fake. So DON'T BUY FROM HIM THIS PRODUCT. So, i decided to buy it from ioak, and i'm waiting from them, i hope they are original.
Bye and greetings from Madrid!!

Stumbled accross this forum post whilst trying to find out more about HBH-DS970's with awful sound and no bass... not very happy to find that I have also been sold a fake by that miserable bastard egun007
I 'only' paid £23.28 in the end (only one other bidder) but as I hadn't researched the end prices of these units from HK suppliers I simply assumed that the units were markedly cheaper in HK and I'd had a stroke a luck.
Once I realised (handily after I had given positive feedback... something I won't do so hastily again in the future) I messaged egun007. No response. So I have lodged a complaint through Paypal but I have to return the goods to HK which is the better part of £10 by airmail with tracking on it.
I'm not sure I can be bothered to send it out, to then get no response from the seller and end up burning another £10 on junk. What's everyone elses opinion? I am happy to push the point if people think it will help.
I've also written another ebay guide to hopefully flag this issue to some more people.
I don't really care about the money but I'm real pissed off with being had.

I thought I was going to receive a genuine set of these, as there were many positive feedbacks of the headset on ebay and was desperate for the post man to knock at my door.
I didnt realise that there were so many fakes out there and I thought something was dodgey with mine because the headset was so cheaply made and the SE logo near the power button FELL OFF! I thought to myself that it is definately fake as i read this forum. Also there was a fingerprint UNDER THE SCREEN/DISPLAY! What fool left their fingerprint there.. definately not a genuine SE product
The only prob I got with it is the song title doesnt show up on the display, but everything on the display works. didnt try the incoming call when listening to music yet.
If I do send it back, what is the best delivery/tracking choice do i make? e.g. normal, recorded (or what ever it is called)? I am so pissed off about the fakes of everything.
btw the seller is "neweplaza" SO BEWARE OF THIS SELLER

I'm waiting for my hbh-ds970 from a seller in the US, i paid 60 dollars u.s,i let you know guys ,i hope because is a U.S seller maybe real but is awfully cheap.
Posted by Oddball
Just got what I believe is a genuine 970 from Ebay for £35 inc postage. I asked before buying if it was sourced in the UK and genuine before taking the chance. Always a good idea. Still. The only annoying thing is it cuts out for a half second every now and then. But I hear this is a common problem to do with bit polling or somesuch.

hey, can i suggest something?,
we can do a list with the feed back of everybody that bought , so
we can do trusted sellers list... and fake too...
and other question, how much cost an original in ebay?? i've founded some about U$60, i think its just price.... so if anyone already bought an original in ebay post the name of the seller please....
i really wanna this fone, but its more easy buy an original motorola HT 820 that can use as corded fone cost half of an HBH DS-970

Seems I got suckered as well... on the other hand, you can predict that if it seems too good to be true it probably is. Got my headset from this buyer:
dccl_station
Almost only positive feedback, but same issues. Locking up often (at incoming call for example) and sound isn't too good.
A reason I thought it might be true is the fact that I saw some prices in germany ( (online) stores) starting from about 60 euros so, assuming those are real, I thought hongkong prices might actually be lower.
Looking at it it looks pretty damn real, even after knowing the difference between fakes and originals. I'll check the box to see if it has a white sticker on it as well. Perhaps I'll buy the DS980 after all...
I'll see if I can get a refund, shipping was about 6 euros so that was not too bad. On the other hand, glad I got suckered for the 30 euros and not the original price

Box has the white SE sticker btw, so that's no guarantee. Also it does work ok sometimes, but still locks up too often.

My god ,I just bought a headset for W300i from HK ...I didn't remember who's seller ...I hope ...
Posted by dagrim1
Hmmm, maybe something to try for other people...
When turning the headset on in multipoint mode it *seems* to work. I don't get the tracknames updated in the lcd display anymore (perhaps that was causing the lockups) but I can live with that...
I'm just letting the thing play all night, calling every now and then to the phone with another line to test it properly. Worth a shot atleast for other I'd think

I'm generally very careful, espescially when the price is too good to be true, but I got had primarily out of greed. Bought the HBH-DS970 for $34.99 from seller sun.group.
Feedback score was perfect but relatively few transaction. Normally that's a warning sign and I should have followed my instinct and avoided buying from the seller.
Box was opened and looked like it was not engineered to fold properly. Strange smell indicating cheap paint being used for the box. Dead give away was the packaging of the extra earbud covers. Came in a standard wrinkled zip loc bag rather than the sealed plastic bags you can usually expect from a genuine Sony Ericsson product.
Upon charging the headset wouldn't bond with my cellphone. Took countless tries to get it to be recognized and then when it finally did the headset crashed and the recovery method described in the manual failed. Sound quality was well below the wired headset that came with my phone. Most notably, absence of bass response generally described as great for this headset.
SE logo near the power button differs significantly from the logo on my P1i and the logos of the stock wired headset.
Upon contacting the seller and confronting him about the counterfeit item I was offered a full refund and received a request to remove negative feedback.
Opened dispute with Paypal and am waiting for response from seller on whether he will cover return shipment and full refund including the expedited shipping charges I paid.

I have got mine delivered from Sun.Group to.
As already mentioned, Its a fake.
I wish I had come to this topic earlier.
I've already mailed sun.group by ebay private message.
And I've already opened a complain by paypal.
The sound quality is very bad, Sony's patents like MegaBass aren't working. The quality of the buttons are bad, and after 1 minute the device hangs, and you are not able to do anything with it. (Text song keeps showing, light keeps up until you reset it by plugging it in the charger and back out).
Also I can say there is a clear difference between the SonyEricsson logos on the left and right ear.
Posted by kaiiserni
Today, they answered my complain, this is what I got:
"For RMA, pls send the item to Attn: Mr Lee, Room D, 3/F, 129 Cheung Sha Wan, Sham Shui Po, Hong Kong. Pls state your ebay ID and item ID along with the item. Once we have received the item, we will give you a full refund immediately. Sorry for any inconvenience casued.
- sun.group"
Should I trust this and send the item back?
That would cost me more shipping costs + then they can sell it to another innocent man + how do I know I will get my money back.
Posted by goldenface
Make sure you have a tracking number and KEEP HOLD of the proof of sending i'e the receipt with the tracking ID on.
As soon as the sender receives the item back then Paypal should refund you.
If the sender refuses to accept the item back for any reason, (and this happens sometiimes) then tell paypal and they will check and then ask you to fax them the front and back of the receipt with the tracking ID on.
They should refund you then.
Good luck.

I've read on this forum that "blaccessories" sells fake HBH DS970 bluetooth headsets on ebay.. I bought one from them/him s few months ago.. It's got good sound quality, and seems to work perfectly. It never freezes or stops working, it switches modes just fine from music to calls and back. TrackIDs show up just fine, the screen work as it should. I checked the website in the first post (the one with the high-res photos comparing real and fake) and it checks out as being real according to those criteria.
Is there a chance that blaccessories is selling some real and some fake headsets?

I only look into this just now
SE icon is so different...the small opening to expose the green should not be that small
here's other comment on the fake one. One thing i didn't put in the picture....the casing which is original come with all the marking for material etc but fake one none
I didn't browse thru the whole thread but to me it is good to bring this up to ebay.
there's another theory from me....just wonder have SE changed the supplier of plastic but I doubt this is the likely situation...becauae I don't think they will allow one supplier who can't even provide an icon tht is correct...remember that.... this is the company's identity
I guess for others...the important part is to check the icon....i saw many times fake SonyEricsson product cannot do it properly
also now with some of the product...the sonyericsson text seem like a badge (like those in sony tv)....I doubt the fake one can product as good quality too.
also the laser marking will look bad for the fake one ..... I used to compare hbh60 of mine with a friend

did you guys got your money back from these bustards? I also bought from sun.group and it's obvious fake. I can't pair it to my phone!
that what i got from them as response to my ebay message:
"Pls send the defective HEADSET to Attn: Sun Group, 3/F, 129 Cheung Sha Wan,
Sham Shui Po, Hong Kong. Pls state your ebay ID and item ID along with the
item. Once we have received the return item, we will send you the
replacement or give you a refund immediately. Sorry for any inconvenience

Kindly pls advise the return shipping charge in advance. Pls ship
it back with standard shipping.

Here are - HBH DS-970's review. You can recognize more about this headset from that review.

hey i don't know what to say about this other than I was duped as well.
I bought from Sun.Group and they sent me what looked like an excellent DS970. and infact apart from an intial hang up (which prompted the search) it hasn't been that bad (granted it's been a day) but the battery life is terrible. though maybe it's cuz the charger isnt meant for this device but rather a cheap charger for SE phones. basically, it charger fine when it is playing something. so i kept it playing music from my macbook and had it charging and then it gave me about 5.5 hours of music off of a 3 hour charge (i think it was charged, the battery stopped going up and down) and then i created a playlist in iTunes of 6 hours of music, check every hour. by the time 5 hours rolled around i sat and listened. 5 hours and 29 mins of music. it's not terrible, but as a DJ i know the sound quality is off, i must admit it is still better than iPod headphones but next to my EX-51s (the headphones i think the 970 was supposed to mimic) it is lacking. though really it has a slightly tinny sound and since i bought these to use to watch MobiTV on the phone i guess i can live with it.
other than that, there is a slight hiss in the background at high volume.
oh and i opened a dispute with paypal and they said that the seller can not be reached at this time, as soon as i submitted it which was weird. so it said to escalate the claim and i did and they said they cannot help me! i was pissed so i called paypal, told them the situation and whatnot and they refunded my account the 40 bux i paid. i promptly withdrew it from my paypal debit card and deposited it back into my bank account. also, paypal didn't say i had to return this and considering how it would cost 10 dollars to just send it, i'm not feeling that charitable, considering how the buster tried to dupe me very badly, well jokes on him i got my money back and got the product!
hope that helps someone

Hey just an update to my last post in case someone is in this pickle.
ok so upon further working with this product, i'm actually quite happy with it (i guess it being free has something to do with it....

as for sound quality, as a DJ i have an ear. so i know what quality sounds like. this headset isn't half bad, i had said earlier that it was better than iPod headphones, and that is true but i would even venture that is JUST UNDER the quality of the Sony EX-51 earbuds. after a few charges, the bass is coming back into the device, the treble is an excellent level and when paired to my old W810i, the MegaBASS actually does make a difference when u turn it on. so i would say that though the initial disappointment of receiving a fake item, it's only been positive since and hey, if you can finagle it, a free stereo bt headset that looks exactly like the 970 isn't half bad

so though i would NOT recommend buying from sun.group, if you do i can post the email i sent them which they were happy to refund me without even a question asked, everyone who got one saying to send back the product, they didn't even ask!
best of luck,
-V
sorry, i'm very verbose

Hey guys,
Just thought id post to say that you can get fakes anywhere! I'm all the way down at the bottom of the world (New Zealand) and bought a DS970 off the trademe.co.nz website. using the guide in the beginning of the thread it was all there, plain black and white! Even the Logo was wrong! Confirmed when i compared it to my W960i

I was still hopeful as $70 instead of the $200 price tag here is bloody awesum for this headset, but upon testing, it was a confirmed fake!
The Display would not update as new songs came in, and absolutely no Bass whatsoever! you would only get the tinny sounds where the bass was supposed to be... So dissapointed!
Am in the process of getting a refund from the Seller now.. Will update with what happens.
