Yeah use the nokia software updater and update your N73 with he N73 ME edition firmware
Posted by spikeyjac

Posted by spikeyjac
i thought you had to change the phone product code or something like that
Posted by spikeyjac
by the way im sure my phone is unbranded

Look on howard forums, theres a whole thread about it...
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1045597&page=1&pp=15
Though be warned you cant go back to normal edition N73 f/w once flashed

I aint done it but lots have on howard forums, and what do you mean what feutures are lost in normal firmware?
The ME f/w just adds a new music player, with support for album art and differant visializations, and a couple of new themes....
I have read the ME f/w also takes up more memory thus making the phone a little slower though i could'nt personally say
Posted by spikeyjac
i read somehwere that you lose some features from the normal firmware if you update
Posted by scottt
I dunno about that, after reading more up on it i personally would'nt update.
A few people on HoFo have "bricked" there phones rendering them useless, also a guy on there who has spoken to some nokia guy from finland who says the f/w is extremely unstable at the moment....
Posted by spikeyjac
i think i might just go for it as there have been more successes than brikin
Posted by scottt
Good luck
Posted by spikeyjac
lol if it mess up id be able to get a new one on warenty right?
Posted by scottt
Hmmmm i dont have a clue, i would'nt of thought so to be honest....
Posted by spikeyjac
k well i would have cos im really only updating the firmware arent i?sort of lol
Posted by scottt
yeah but if you flash a k750i to w800i and then it mess's up that would'nt be covered to my knowledge? and thats essentially what your doing with your N73...
Posted by spikeyjac
suppose o well.lets see lol
Posted by spikeyjac
right now when i go onto service update my phone disconnects lol nayone know a way around this?
Posted by frank2345babies
the only loss compared to the original firmware that i am aware of is that the multimedia button is changed to only the music button. which you could already do if you just pressed it twice. also reading form the howard forums link some people say the user memory goes from 45mb to 35mb but others say that theres is still at 45mb. having moved from a w900 to a n73 i am going to change to ME formware as i would appreciate a better music player and increased loudspeker quality. first i need to get access to a computer with the minimum system requirements to run NSU

I'll wait till NSU release stable firmware before I flash mines over.
Posted by spikeyjac
dont think they will realses a astable version

a mate of mine did it this morning, phone works a treat.... so far!
Posted by scottt
Yeah after being very aprehensive and not wanting to brick my phone curiosity got to me and i did these couple of weeks back. Works fine, the phone is a little slower but i found a way of closing the music app so it aint always on in the background.....
Posted by iqtidar
i did it... its not a big deal. just change d product code and use nsu to update your software. my hp is very stable. i upgraded it almost 2 months already.
Posted by spikeyjac
anyone else decided to upgrade from ME edition to IE edition?
Did it last night after lots of retrying becuase nokie Upgrade Softwar kept saying internal module error..anyway long stroy made short i updated the software updater and my phone software was updated in 5 min..seems alot more stable to me??

I've got a black N70 that has apparently been flashed with ME firmware... but how do i tell? I mean the music play does seem a bit basic? No visualizations or anything? It does do playlists and stuff but thats it? So how can i tell if it's just the standard music player or the ME version?
Posted by spikeyjac
can you send me some or post some pics of the mp3 pls?
Posted by Burgaz
It's normally all grey but i just changed to an xbox theme(on the phone) and it's gone all swurly...
Posted by spikeyjac
well it looks like it does as it has album art and the player buttons arent down the side but i dont know for sure really...
did you get a green and red theme with it?
and what does the side button do?

kk.... What are the codes to see ya firmware version and stuff like that on a nokia?
Posted by fatreg
you need to use a comp to do it..
nokia are tres gay like that.
you can check your SW version by typing in * hash 0000 hash.
wheres a hash on a mac!?
fatreg
Posted by Dogmann
Hi Fatreg,
Sorry to disagree with but on both my N73 and now N93 to see what firmware version the phone is running you just type star, hash, 0000 hash and it displays the information no PC or Mac required.

Music Player on that N70 looks just the same as the one on the standard N70 tbh.....
Posted by Burgaz
Scott.... That's what i thought!
The N70 firmware :
V 5.0638.3.0.1
18-09-06
RM-84
Does that spread anylight on anything?
I'm gonna start a new thread on this... Make things easier!

Right so after losing my N95 over the weekend i now have my old N73 and want to change it to the ME edition.
Has anyone got any instructions on how to
a)change the housing and
b)how to update the fw so its ME edition?
I have found that amazon sell the housing so it would be nice to get it from them now all i need is instructions oh how to actually change the housing and how to update the fw.
Any ideas guys?

there is now a firmware available 4 the normal n73 that gives you the music player of the music edition and bluetooth a2dp without loosing the functionality or ve media key.

yep there is no advantage of N70 music edition - the media player is exactly the same. The only difference is the music edition the media key can no longer be reassigned to other functions - so it's actually a backward step!
