Redten Internet have announced a new deal for £20 per month, you will get a LG Pentium 4.3GHz PC and 19 inch LCD monitor and 'up to 8Mbps' broadband service.
You become tied in to the service for a three year contract, after which you either cancel, in which case the PC is taken away or you continue in which case Redten say they'll upgrade the PC.
As with all packages like this, you may not get the full 8Mbps, but that's mainly down to BT and the quality of your cabling, distance from the exchange, and so on. Redten say they'll upgrade customers to a 24Mbps service when the technology allows it,again that's likely down to BT to sort out.
There's also ongoing customer support thrown in, and a free upgrade to Vista when it comes out.

so its not really a free pc... they're just loaning it to you
its ok I suppose if you don't want to pay for a pc but want fast internet access, but 3 years is a long time in the pc world.
good for low income earners though so can't fault it there

Well not exactly, although the contract you sign is for a period of 3 years the PC remains yours for the duration of that term, and upgraded to a higher spec PC once expired.
Don't know why they say its a FREE pc when its clearly not.

for 28 quid a month you can get up to 8mb bb and free national calls 24/7 up to 75 mins per call, and then you jus hang up and redial. that also includes your line rental which means you wont have to pay BT a penny. also if you are in a LLU area, this same service costs only 19.99 a month.
im not just bigging it up because i work for the company but it is actually really good value.

and you get a free PC?

So are these sheds any good? What happens when they go wrong? And I mean seriously wrong, do you get an engineer come round your house to sort it like with Medion and other suppliers?
I'm not having a go, I'm genuinely interested! 3 years at £20 per month = 36 months x £20 = £720 for a shed with a screen, keyboard, mouse and modem of some description, with a broadband connection on top. That's bloody cheap!
Is it like the Dell experience where you buy a cheap package and then get stung on the not-quite optional extras?

I cant be bothered to read all the small print but the questions you have to ask are...
1) What is that PC worth in real terms
2) What kind of support will you get from them for it
3) What happens if you break the contract with them?
4) What happens if they go out of business before the three years is up?
The way it looks to me is that your paying monthly for three years, too much money for an average pc and getting free broadband
