I just bought a k800i from Direct Mobile Accessories. Although it did not say either way on the website, they have sent the Hong Kong edition of the phone and not the Uk version, where I live. I just wanted to make sure that this wont affect how I use the phone, will all the same services be available to me using the HK edition when compared to the UK edition? Ive noticed I cant seem to mute the camera sound on this one.

Hong Kong phones are not allowed to be branded - I can vouch for this being a HongKonger. You'll have all of the features on the phone that are available.

As for the shutter sound - correct me if i'm wrong, but I thought it was mandatory in all phones as there are privacy issues...people taking pictures of others in compromising positions, that sort of thing

No it is not mandatory in the UK, my k750i with UK firmware allows silent photo taking, very useful for taking photos in places such as libraries.

Yeah, just set the phoen to silent and the camera sound won't be heard...

That doesnt work. That's how I do it on my k750i but my k800i with Hong Kong firmware makes the focus and shutter sound even when the phone is in silent mode.

So as Gunnut said, Hong Kong photo taking laws?

so it seems. The phone apart from that seems justabout as it should so im not hugely bothered.

my phone's shutter doesn't make a sound when i turn on silent mode.
