As requested, here is a clock screen saver thingy

More info:
* http://www.saxoft.com/wordpress/category/clockss/,
* http://www.saxoft.com/get.php?page=clockss.

Update:
* v0.4 (2006-11-14):
-> Added floating small clock to show to current time anywhere
-> By clocking on the small clock willactivate the screensaver immediately
-> The application should not activate itself in the middle of a call
-> The date is shown as well (for now in fixed format: YYYY.MM.DD)
-> Analog clock fixed
-> Option added to not hide the top of the screen (so you can see new message, or not answered calls). Clicking on any icon in the top of the screen deactivates the screensaver (except in total lock mode)
-> Total lock fixed

* V0.3 (2006-11-8) just some minor changes:
-> no need to press ALT, * and # is enough
-> you can activate the screensaver immediately from the app
-> I also changed some code which decides when to unlock the phone... might be better... or worse, still need to test it

* v0.2 (2006-11-7)
-> added more clock types
-> added more aggresive lock

Nice !

Is this in power save mode because SE did not provide that feature, or just before the screen shuts off?

Posted by space2
Just before the screen shuts off.
I think even if it would be possible to show it in powersaver mode, it would consume a lot of battery, so it woudnt be powersaver mode.
Anyway, you just need to press a key or the screen, to see the clock.

Yeah that true, usually when someone wants to check the time on their phone they press a button anyway. So yours is better than because it saves power and its easier to read.

I've got an app idea for you !!

Can you create an app that can display a note on the homescreen the same way as you can on K750/w800/k800 etc? Its a semi transparent note on top of the usual homescreen. With at least 10 lines of writing if you can. What'd you think? Hope so.

Hmm, might be possible... but have to learn a few things to do it...

Posted by londonlad123
Its a great feature that SE really should have implemented. Would you have to create your own notes or be able to use se's notes. Anyways, hope you can, as for now this ClockSS app is gonna be a lifesaver! (and get me to work on time )

And how about a rss ticker runing on the desktop?

@ares: I would need more info, hence more time for it, and I'm not sure I'll have enough (I got a job in a nice big company from 1st of December). But maybe others will write it (I hope I can finish the pixel editor in time)

space2, great idea, neat little program, thanks a bunch!

Things I would very much like to see in a succeeding version:
- Center the digital/binary clocks in the screen.
- Let the user specify the amount of time before the clock turns on (instead of choosing from pre-set options like 10 seconds, 1 minute, etc.)
- Flip-closed mode!

Posted by space2
2) Yes, that would be nice, but that needs some more time, and withouth proper IDE it's a bit hard
3) And for FC mode I would need a P990 to test on , I have only a M600.

First of all thenx a bunch for this much needed application

Support for the flip closed mode would be a welcome addition for those of us that have the flip on.

Thanks for sharing this nice work!

For the wish list: Would it be possible to show (not cover) the top status line when the clock is shown? That way one could check for missed calls or messages without having to unlock the screen. This could be a new clock type with a transparent part in the top part of the screen.

Hello,

I have some Ideas ...

1-Shortcuts for calendar, time and loudspeaker.
2-Turn OFF and ON the 3G, so you can save battery in places with poor 3G signals.
3-Clock scrrensaver like K750 and W801 (that one you have it covered).
4-Auto keyboard lock.

Thanks.

Reginaldo

i tried your original version on my M600 but couldnt get out of it, when displayed as screensaver then i go to use the phone, i get message 'press (*) then (#) to unlock', but nothing happens it still remains locked on the screensaver. Had to remove battery and restart the phone.. I then uninstalled it..

Is there something i did wrong?

Posted by space2
The phone is in "letter" mode, you have to press ALT too, ie the correct sequence:
ALT + * + ALT + #.
Will be fixed in the next version.
Btw, long press on back button should work also.

Posted by space2
V0.3, just some minor changes:
- no need to press ALT, * and # is enough
- you can activate the screensaver immediately from the app
- I also changed some code which decides when to unlock the phone... might be better... or worse, still need to test it

ace wee piece of software

Is it just me, or does this still not work too well with the p990? I still have to use ALT to unlock, and cant move the floating clock.
I think I'd prefer no lock.

- I still have to use Alt when unlock in my P990.
- The software re-activate itself even tough I closed them from the task manager. I have to uninstall it if I don't want the clock.

Posted by space2
yes, it seems the 0.4 version doesnt solve the ALT issue on p990, try this: clockss_0_5pre1.sis
