W850 questions (for people with both phones - K800)

Hi. Can anybody answer my questions about this phone. Many thanks.
1. Speaker. I have the k800 - is the speaker better? I find the K800 speaker is very tinny and distorted. I am used to the smoother sounding W800 speaker which had better bass.
2. Say you want to fast forward a track/podcast (say 20 mins long or so). Does it do ramped fast forwarding so that it speeds through a 20 min song in a few seconds (like on k800)? Same with video..?
3. I understand it does play/pause on video if you use the media player version and not the file manager video player(same on k800 by the way). Does fast forward work as in point 2 above (as it would on k800).
4. Does it play the same quality of video playback as k800?
5. Some people say it has no dedicated play/pause button but can you answer this - say you are playing a 20 min podcast and pause it or come out of music player - can you go back in and restart it from same spot or would it reset to start? If so this is very poor for a walkman phone - The K800 does this just fine (and has the dedicated buttons).
6. Audio quality - I consider the k800 audio quality (headphone jack through car stereo) to be terrible hence why I am considering getting exchange for W850. The K800 sound compared to my last phone W800 is crippled. Bad dynamics and just terrible overall sound. I take it the W850 sounds much better?
7. Screen quality. Some people say the W850 screen is not as bright as the k800. A recent K800 firmware update reduced the brigtness of its screen in order to save batter life (actually I think it was the 016 PROM update that did it). Are the screens now the same in brigthness/quality?

Thanks. I appreciate all or any answers... I have trawled hundreds of user comments on this phone but not had direct answers to above yet...

Hi, I previously had 3 K800i's and have moved over to the W850i. Hope I can answer some of your questions?
1. The speaker on all models sounds pretty similar to me. To be honest though I don't really use the speaker on the phone.
2. Yes the fast forward zooms through music tracks. As for Video - see below.
3. Yes if you use the Media Player version you can fast F, Rewind, Pause etc. Like you said though, if you open the vid through file manager it will only Play and Stop the video
4. Yeah it appears the same as the K800i (Landscape modes etc are included)
5. It has a stop button. If you hit this half way through a song and close the player down by hitting the music button it will still remember where you stopped the song even if you are doing another task.
6. K800i Audio quality is awful - seems they are trying too many tricks in the software to create a good stereo effect and it just kills the songs. To be honest I didnt think the W850i sounded too great when I first got it. At top volume it seemed to throw the track balance from left to right and was really strange. However, that was using the supplied headphones which I changed to the ones I got with the W800i and it sounds really good now. The bass is amazing, although the volume could do with being a bit louder.
7. Screen quality is great on W850i, it's just the same as K800i but just not as bright. Still looks as good though.

Here's some additional findings

The Goods!!

a) Battery life is a million times better on W850i
Navigation is much easier (I hated the k800i stick, especially when it stopped working properly after only having it a week!)
b) Has only crashed twiced compared to about 100 times on the K800i
c) Software is much quicker, navigation, opening messages etc.
d) Nice Flash themes
e) Internet Speeds via 3G / WAP about 3 times faster compared to K800i. Also doesn't drop the internet connection like the K800.
F) Nicer to hold in the hand
g) Easy to load songs (with album art)

The not so goods
a)Camera is no where near as good as K800i
b) Slighly loose slider
c) Creeky back cover (fixed by inserting paper under it)
d) could do with more dedicated direct access buttons for the walkman. I.e. to take you directly to albums.

To conclude... I love the W850i even if the camera isn't great. I thought I wouldn't have an SE phone again for a while after my problems with the K800 but the W850 has changed my mind.

I have also the w850i and agree with all you said, and thanks for the tip on how to pause and return to tracks (it works also via the mini menu).

One thing you both forgot was ALL that lovely storage space.... 1gb!(included)
The phones onboard memory is a bit pants and fills up quickly, making jumping between memorys a bit difficult with large files!

Overall best S/E phone i have had so far.
K800i was too big for me, wanted to keep as small as possible.

Thumbs up from me!
