In the payg chart how come the L6 last week was upto 5 months and now this week it is 8 months at the top? has it gone through a time warp? (its just a jump to the left, and a step to the right).

Don't know about that.

The L6 was knocked off the top spot the 1st two weeks of this year by the K750i and the W810i and also on the 26th January and the 2nd February.so its hardly an almost unbroken run.

EDIT: May be he has one himself

I'm interested to see how the W880i performs - all the networks are carrying it and it has entered the top twenty in its first week.

Surprised to see the N73 hit the top spot all of a sudden, I thought the Shine might have took top spot this week.

Contract Sales

The LG Shine hits the top spot this week. Sales have risen steadily since its launch last month. The Nokia 6300 also makes its entry into the contract chart at number 15. Retailers are confident that sales on this will be strong because of its low trade price, simple but sleek design and business functionaility. The handset is already being hailed as the next 6310, which was a huge hit for the manufacturer.

1 (2) LG Shine - LG's Shine phone
2 (3) Samsung D900 - Ultra thin slider

PAYG Sales

The Motorola L6 finally loses its stranglehold on the top spot this week, slipping to number two behind the Sony Ericsson K750i. Further down the chart, the similar looking but cheaper priced Motorola F3 makes an entry. Could this be part of the reason for the L6's downfall?

1 (2) Sony Ericsson K750i - Quality cameraphone
2 (1) Motorola L6 - Eight months and counting
3 (3) Motorola V3 RAZR - Pink version still going strong
4 (4) Sony Ericsson W810i - Hero musicphone

18 (-) Motorola F3 - L6 lookalike
19 (0) Samsung E370 - Similar to the D500
20 (0) Nokia 2610 - No frills bar phone

An interesting week seeing a few new entries. The W880i jumps 15 points to join the K610i, W850i and K800i all in the top ten contract best sellers.

The ongoing battle between the K750i and the Moto L6 also sees a change.

The LG Shine enjoys a second week at the top spot this week, with Carphone and Phones 4u still reporting strong sales of the device. Its considered rival, the Samsung D840, creeps up the chart from 10 to 6, but as yet is not enjoying quite the same level of sales success.

PAYG Sales

The Motorola L6 is back on form this week, after a temporary sales dip saw it fall in position to number two last week.

1 (2) Motorola L6 - Back on top
2 (3) Motorola V3 RAZR - Pink version still going strong
3 (4) Sony Ericsson W810i - Hero musicphone
4 (5) LG KG800 - LG's iconic slider

18 (17) Sony Ericsson K510i - Mid priced cameraphone
19 (0) Nokia 6230i - Good all rounder
20 (19) Samsung E370 - Similar to the D500

This week also sees a very strong performance from Sony Ericsson; with a total of 4 phones firmly in the top ten contract sellers and the W810i looking like its being replaced by the newer and slimmer W880i.

Motorola's KRZR still failing to have the impact of the iconic V3 - and it being the company's only handset in the contract top twenty.

I've been keeping an eye on the w880 and it has moved quite quickly to number two. We need new models from SE seeing that they are not so many in the top 20 any more.

Posted by goldenface
@EMS06

Well I like to think that as soon as the flavour goes from some models, new ones will be introduced. The K810i is yet to be launched and might not be for a while if the K800ii still performs as it is but all in all it has been a good perfomance this quarter.

I too was watching the W880i's journey to the top and I am surprised it has beaten the LG Shine seeing how it is more expensive.

Thought I would update:

Contract:
Following a temporary blip in sales, the LG Shine is back at number one this week. The question is, can it hold on to the top spot given strong competition from the Nokia 6300, and the soon to be released Nokia N95 and LG Prada phones, both of which are tipped to be big sellers?

1 (4) LG Shine - LG's Shine phone
2 (8) Nokia 6300 - Well priced business handset
3 (2) Sony Ericsson W880i - Slim Walkman phone
4 (3) Samsung D900 - Ultra thin slider
5 (5) Nokia N73 - Still strong demand for this
6 (1) Sony Ericsson K800i - Sales still high
7 (7) Samsung D840 - Super slim slider
8 (6) Motorola KRZR - Long awaited V3 successor
9 (15) Nokia 6233 - 3G bar phone
10 (11) Sony Ericsson W850i - First slider from Sony Ericsson
11 (12) Samsung X830 - i-pod lookalike
12 (9) Sony Ericsson K610i - Sporty bar phone
13 (10) Samsung E900 - Touchpad slider
14 (13) Nokia 7373 - Unusual swivel design
15 (14) Sony Ericsson W810i - Hero musicphone
16 (16) Nokia 6230i - Good all rounder
17 (18) LG KG800 - LG's iconic handset
18 (17) Nokia 6280 - Chunky slider
19 (19) Nokia 6111 - Lightweight slider
20 (20) Nokia 8800 Sirocco - Latest Sirocco edition

PAYG:

Yet again the Motorola L6, which until recently had a stranglehold on the top spot, has been ousted. Not that Motorola need worry too much, as its been overtaken by one of its very own handsets, the W220. In fact it's been a good week overall for Motorola, with three out of the top four handsets being its own. Elsewhere, the Nokia 6300, going down a storm in the contract chart, sneaks in at number 20 this week. With such a competitive price tag, it is bound to rise further in position in the coming weeks.

1 (3) Motorola W220 - Clamshell with speakerphone
2 (1) Motorola L6 - Back on top
3 (4) LG KG800 - LG's iconic slider
4 (2) Motorola V3 RAZR - Pink version still going strong
5 (5) Sony Ericsson W810i - Hero musicphone
6 (6) Samsung E900 - Touchpad slider
7 (8) Nokia 2310 - Candybar with colour
8 (9) Sony Ericsson K750i - Quality cameraphone
9 (11) Nokia 1112 - Basic bar phone
10 (7) Motorola F3 - L6 lookalike
11 (12) Nokia 6230i - Good all rounder
12 (16) Samsung D900 - Ultra thin slider
13 (14) Sony Ericsson W300i - Walkman handset
14 (15) Samsung E250 - Basic slider
15 (10) Nokia 6111 - Mid range slider
16 (13) Nokia 1600 - Basic candybar
17 (17) Samsung X830 - i-pod lookalike
18 (18) Sony Ericsson K800i - Excellent cameraphone
19 (20) Samsung E370 - Similar to the D500
20 (0) Nokia 6300 - Set to be popular

Contract Sales

The long awaited LG Prada phone rockets into the chart at number nine this week. Its strong entry is hardly suprising considering the promotional push that both the Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4u are currently giving it. It's been a good week for LG all round, with the Shine also holding strong at number one.

1 (1) LG Shine - LG's Shine phone
2 (3) Sony Ericsson W880i - Slim Walkman phone
3 (2) Nokia 6300 - Well priced business handset
4 (9) Nokia 6233 - 3G bar phone
5 (7) Samsung D840 - Super slim slider
6 (4) Samsung D900 - Ultra thin slider
7 (5) Nokia N73 - Still strong demand for this
8 (6) Sony Ericsson K800i - Sales still high
9 (-) LG Prada - The Prada phone
10 (10) Sony Ericsson W850i - First slider from Sony Ericsson
11 (13) Samsung E900 - Touchpad slider
12 (11) Samsung X830 - i-pod lookalike
13 (12) Sony Ericsson K610i - Sporty bar phone
14 (8) Motorola KRZR - Long awaited V3 successor
15 (14) Nokia 7373 - Unusual swivel design
16 (16) Nokia 6230i - Good all rounder
17 (17) LG KG800 - LG's iconic handset
18 (15) Sony Ericsson W810i - Hero musicphone
19 (19) Nokia 6111 - Lightweight slider
20 (20) Nokia 8800 Sirocco - Latest Sirocco edition

PAYG Sales

The Motorola W220 enjoys a second week at the top spot, in an indication that its relation, the Motorola L6, is finally losing its grip on the number one position. Elsewhere the Nokia 6300 creeps up another spot to number 19.

1 (1) Motorola W220 - Clamshell with speakerphone
2 (2) Motorola L6 - Back on top
3 (4) Motorola V3 RAZR - Pink version still going strong
4 (3) LG KG800 - LG's iconic slider
5 (6) Samsung E900 - Touchpad slider
6 (5) Sony Ericsson W810i - Hero musicphone
7 (7) Nokia 2310 - Candybar with colour
8 (10) Motorola F3 - L6 lookalike
9 (9) Nokia 1112 - Basic bar phone
10 (11) Nokia 6230i - Good all rounder
11 (8) Sony Ericsson K750i - Quality cameraphone
12 (15) Nokia 6111 - Mid range slider
13 (13) Sony Ericsson W300i - Walkman handset
14 (17) Samsung X830 - i-pod lookalike
15 (14) Samsung E250 - Basic slider
16 (12) Samsung D900 - Ultra thin slider
17 (16) Nokia 1600 - Basic candybar
18 (18) Sony Ericsson K800i - Excellent cameraphone
19 (20) Nokia 6300 - Set to be popular
20 (0) Sony Ericsson K510i - Enrty level bar phone

Blistering performance from Moto with the top three PAYG places under its belt. A cooling down for SE with only one phone in the top 3 Contract sellers although still 3 in the top ten, although the W880i is doing well for what is arguably a niche and unusual looking phone.

SE aint doing that good lately. and new phones being launched are more like repalcements then new entrees.

Posted by goldenface
Well isn't star-performing at the moment but did have a good run last quarter.

What matters is that it still has a number of phones in the Top 20. e.g. Moto only has ONE handset in the contract top twenty - and a total of 5 in the Top 40.

Here are the coming soon phones,

J110i
J120i
K200i
K220i
K550im
K810i
W200i
W580i
W610i
W660i
Z750i

The K510i/ W610i should appear in the coming weeks. The K810i will also appear late this month.

your enthusiasm in the sales of phones makes me chuckel. I do hope its a vested interest i.e. its making you money indirectly or directly but if you're just doing this for the sake of it I find that very cute!!!!

As a matter fact I do have my own site so it is a vested interest

I have to keep my eye on the top twenty; it stops me from advertising phones that aren't selling.

Time for some new blood?

Shouldn't we see the K550 in the charts soon? PAYG at least?

Posted by goldenface
The K550i should be out very soon but I,m not sure how much of a hit it'll be. it'll have to be priced really low. The K750i is still selling so will this be its curtain call? Hi end phones seem to be more popular rightnow.

Not a bad performance from I am surprised to see the Prada phone taking a dive already and I expect the N95 will be top of the bill for a while.

Posted by bart
so its the W610i that hits the charts and not the K550i.
i think we must say that the K610i is doing a good job, its been in the top 20 ever since it hit the market.
but i must say i'm sad to see so many samsung in the top 10, and some many people buying the N95 while i find it a waste of good money.

SE has got 7handsets in the top 20 of contract sales, this is the most they've ever had which is good. but they only have 2 in the top 10.

Q2 won't be such a big succes for SE.
on year base they could fail to pass samsung.

Q2 is going to be the worst Q for SE this year in terms of growth.

Posted by goldenface
@bart

Not necessarily, it still has 12 phones in the top 40, whats that, roughly 25 - 30% so its holding in there.

The K810i will pick up the baton from the K800i for a while - it will remain a solid performer for a good while yet.

I'm interested to see if the rumours are true about the N95. My brother works in CPW and has reported a lot of returns on this - shame really if this is the case, its an excellent concept with very slick marketing too. Although, this might turn out to be a good thing, a few fw updates and good price drop will make it very attractive Not good news for Nokia though.

Posted by bart
25-30% isn't that abit over estimated?
SE's marketshare is smaller.
2 many blind people buying nokia after nokia.

Posted by bart
the problems with the N95 are normal, its nokia, no mather how hard they try, they will never build a phone that a true ericsson fan would buy.

and i don't really see nokia is an evil company, they are losing marketshare to SE, but gaining form smaller brands.
samsung on the other hand is winning marketshare, and they are evil, they make crappy phones, they care only about money and not about technology and innovation. who ever buy's samsung should be seen as metally ill.

i would like to emphasize this thing:
"the problems with the N95 are normal, its nokia, no mather how hard they try, they will never build a phone that a true ericsson fan would buy."

that's why i can't get back to nokia due to the "SE quality fever" they produce phones with fascinating features, but "quality" is sacrificed making those a pointless phone :[

Samsung and Nokia Makes high-spec'd phones with most of it have Crap battery but i like samsung's design, but never change from SE

pleasure? keep taking those pills mate, don't get ill.
don't be tempted by design alone.

SE is not doing a good job.
design is not to blaim. its more lack of AF cams on their phones thats killing their sales

Posted by goldenface
@bart

Yes and I would also put it down to SE not getting the phones out quick enough. It needs to have more choice in the higher end, phones without touch-screens - more lke the T650i which should ship soon. A Cyber-shot slider would be cool.

I don't know why the Cyber-shot phones aren't being rolled out as much as the Walkmans are but there is obviously a demand for them, you can see by the two Cyber-shots in the top ten contract sellers. In fact all SE's phones in the top twenty contract sellers are branded.
