@goldenface- next time remind me not to bet against you! Top 2 finish is an unbelievable end to an amazing year indeed. Here's hoping they improve on this performance next year- top 4 maybe.

Posted by bart
for the uk its a good thing, but its not going well in other countries.
i'm glad the P990 is scoring so well in the uk, but then again so does the 8800, and those awfull samsungs

@Bart

It wouldn't surprise me the UK performance was repeated in other European countries (except Finland). It would be great to find these figures.

You UK users seem to have quite a lot of high end phones in the PAYG market. If we were to compare, we'd have a lot more basic phone I'd think.

SE's doing pretty well in the PAYG though. Not the same here though, but SE's catching up. Nokia is king of this area.

Same here in the US. Samsung has quite a bit of phones in that market.

@bart

The top five best contract sellers has remained largely unchanged for the whole of the last quarter, the K800i has been the No 1 mostly with the 2 Samsung sliders hardly out of the top 3 at all.

The K800i seems to have had its star run at the top now which means its time for new blood.

The PAYG side of it has seen the top 2 spots taken by

A Samsung phone has the top spot, ugly. But look at the P990 squeezing in at the spot 20.

Posted by Residentevil
The W810i is making a comeback. Hopefully with the James Bond movies going right now the K800i can claim the top spot back.

Posted by bart
SE should've showed some phones in pirates of the caribian, that movie had far more succes

Posted by EMS06
@bart- I'm trying to imagine Johnny Depp holding a w810i and it looks really strange.
I share goldenface's assertion that the k800i's time is up. Hope the w850i reclaims the top spot. Good going for the p990i. As for the w810i what more can one say- absolutely brilliant!

Posted by bart
K800i is still a briliant phone, the best none smartphone on the market, i'm sure it can reclaim the top spot when it goes down in price a bit.

i see to many samsungs in the P&G list.
and i see to many nokia's in the contract list.
the reason some older phones are in the list is probably to stock sales. every old phone must go.

I too was surprised to see the K750i back in the contract Top 20. There must be some good deals out with that handset.

Totals handsets in the Top Twenty

Nokia - 7
Sony Ericsson - 5
Samsung - 4
Moto - 2
LG - 2

PAYG
Sony Ericsson - 5
Samsung - 5
Nokia - 5
Motorola - 4
LG - 1

I don't think it is the contracts that keep the K750i in the top. I think it is the phone itself. IT is a great phone with all the features most ppl like, a solid performer now and has become very stable over time. I don't here too many complaints anymore here about it.

My new K800i still going strong.

Posted by goldenface
The K800i has been in the top 5 for months. Thought the W810i has got to be the star performer for me.

Posted by EMS06
I was ready to start pulling my hair if that d900 remained on top yet again. Wonderful to see the w850i on top again. Now only if it stays there till the w880, k810 and the k550 are released to the market. A bit hopeful aren't I?

Posted by goldenface
I don't think so. It has always been a battle with the two samsungs and the W850i and K800i. I have forgotten which of the new SE phones will be hittingthe market first - I think its the W880i which is sure to be a hit.

I used to think that the more expensive phones wouldn't be able to make the top ten but the K800i proved that wrong.

I'm not sure the W610i will be huge though the white K550i has a good chance of becoming the next big hitter. It just looks really nice in white.

Posted by EMS06
My money is on the k550 and w880 to be the next big sellers for SE. The white k550 is so good looking I can't believe it's not even high end. The w880 is truly amazing when you look at the dimensions.

SE symbian phones need to be pushed, they are the future.

Posted by goldenface
@EMS06

I agree.

After reading the review of it over on Mobile-review I have been completely taken by it.

Slim phones have been around for a few months but as the review said - only Sony Ericsson has managed to make a slim phone and pack it with an excellent set of features. A winning formula if ever there was one.

King of the Skinnies.

Posted by EMS06
@goldenface- you haven't seen a slim phone until you see a Sony Ericsson. It will always have something special. I for one am very happy with the start for SE this year when you consider that Sofia and the Uiq models are still to be announced. Looking forward to the next announcements.

Do you think UIQ phones will become as mainstream as S60? How do they compare with non-smart phones - say speed wise?

K610i is doing quite well, better then i ever expected.
on the other side their aren't many SE's in the stats, its over run by nokia, and even LG is picking up marketshare.
W880 will be a hit, but one phone alone isn't enough, we need more SE phones in the stats.

I agree. I have a feeling that shine will be No 1 next week at this rate. The W880i is sure to be a hit but does need to get these phones out quick.

In a recent interview, it was said the the K510i and the K550i are expected to be the big hitters this year but probably not in the UK where SE's mid tier phones do better such as the K800i.
