mtn is tryin to consol it's customers with' mtn zone'. mtn always has dis 'copy cat' attitude,but they always fall short.

that's one problem with nokia phones,when it comes to internet connectivity,they're not versatile. for free browsing on TIGO using OPERA 4.1 on SE phone,all u 've to do is go to internet settings. at connection type,use http other than wap. then port no. from 8080 to 9128 and that's for da phone. when u install opera 4.1 for the first time, it uses socket to conn. which TIGO charges so after install. go to sett. and change 4rm socket to http.

and remember dis, any time opera mini fails to connect,and u're asked to check 4 connection,never click on it cos if u do,your settings will change 4rm http to socket which TIGO will charge 4. just press the back key to return the prev. page and click on ya link again. use TIGO wap it's a bit faster. apn is wap.tigo.com.gh

What about using the phone as modem for dial up connection? When i use onetouch., i use the apn 'browse' and it works but with tigo, it connects alright but the web sites do not load. What apn should i use ?Thanks

for browsing on pc using TIGO,use da web apn and change port no. to 8080. when u use port 9128 your download rate is limited and since pc's are data intensive, it's impossible. port 9128 suits phones and it's free,whilst p8080 suits both and faster but u're charged.

well i am not really sure but mobile services barely change their apn. they rather change the port no. so that they can charge on one port and make another port no. free. a friend supposedly uses the 'browse' apn to browse for free but he uses an ISDN line type instead of a MODEM line type and doesnt enter any proxy. if anyone has a samsung, try it.
for onetouch the free port used to be 3128 but does not work any more.
though i suspect they just changed it to something else

Cobby when u use the tigo wap, do all the pages load correctly? i'm also using tigo but nearly all the pages i try to open dont load well and there are a lot of errors. the port i'm using is 9128 and i normally browse with opera.

With those free calls during the day, network gets a bit stressed. I tried it during dis hours and it loads faster and no errors using opera.

if you want any software go to majorgeeks.com or just google it
and about the torrent programs----also called peer to peer.
in normal downloads a server host a file and you just have to connect to that server and download the whole thing at once
then came the download managers
when you are downloading and the connection cut or you want to suspend it. it can remember the exact point at which you stopped and resume from that same spot. and it makes it faster by downloadin different portions of the same file at once and joining them later
then the torrent...
dont know the exact method but it is more like a lot of different servers have different portions of the same file. so to download you get a torrent(that is a link to one portion of the file ) which can only be used by a torrent program. after that portion is finished bittorrent will look for the other portions for you
this method was developed to improve the efficiency of internet piracy. ha ha ha
if there is one pirated file on one server just track him down and jail him
but now you have a lot of portions of the same file on thousands of servers and even individual normal home PCs(that is why its called peer to peer) since the portions can be as small as kilobytes who are you going to catch????????????

for the torrent, mine is a bit slow..i downloaded 35mb and it took more than 10hrs ! Any ideas as to how to increase it's speed using tigo dial up..also how do i enable a port so that other peers can connect to my torrent to make the speed faster?

did u give it the tigo ip
when u are on a torrent site searching anything
don't forget to remember to check the Seeders (SE) and the Leechers (LE)
they are very important
because the higher the seeders the faster ur downloading speed
And about the error on page U MUST LEARN HOW TO LIVE WITH IT
BECAUSE THATS WHAT U GET OUT OFF FREE
LOL
I am working with my group on that problem and if we find any thing i will let u all know
but its not a 100% sure thing
just like using other means off connecting to the net and having problem with REFRESHING OF PAGES

well that's the problem with this tigo dial up ,lots of errors and it's frustrating .for the torrent set it to use the proxy as lomolee explained and look out for torrents with many seeders..but it is still not that fast especially when downloading larger files

ur connection to the net is not strong
but when using other means u can set it to unlimited

well mine is hovering around that but it's not stable some are as low as 0.1 kb. I've seen a speed of 7.1kb's which was stable for about 2 seconds
