thank u bro.,no one should say i'm tigoholic,my offer is on da table. the best at the moment is kasapa, but unfortunately no gprs/edge,that's why i'm with the second and the fastest growing network in gh,tiGO.
if any other network makes dat giant leap,i'll be glad to follow as well.

guys have u noticed mtn is trying to install 3G on their network. is just a matter of time. it's great but my question is,how affordable and accessible will it be to the ordinary ghanaian? mtn could not make even gprs/edge accessible to it's clients how much more 3G services.
am sticking with tiGO which is currently operating well using 2.5G
Posted by cobby268
I don't know why people still use mtn..Common gprs u have to pay 5cedis before u can activate with huge costs while with tigo just a text message and u have settings and gprs..And if u are lucky and get the free port u have gprs free.Anyway any news about the new port?

it's a proxy server software that connects you the fastest server @ ur service provider's premise. it simply enables you to access any website by penetrating any firewall or blockage and also enhances download/connection speed. is said to be the worlds best proxy surfing technology. u can download a copy at www.ultrareach.com.

just enter the proxy ip and port No. in the space provided if you are using a proxy connection then allow it to successfully connect server. u can browse afterwards. the 8.9 version is recommended

am a new member and i think this forum is really nice and very educative.I want to know about this ultra software and freegate what do they actually do and how do you use them.
i was also thinking if you guys have seen this onetouch port 3128 tigo 9128 well if there is a particular thread then i think mtn will be have a free port of 1128, 2128, 4128 etc i want someone with gprs on mtn should try it and bring us the feed back.
Posted by 4767170.
for five years i've been with spacefon now mtn, well am stll with them because i hate changeing my old number,i'm now a postpaid user what they call VIP lines. but that dont mean am in love with them NO,i use all networks, and have all four networks working at the same time in three phones, i'll drop two as times go by and i pray it wolud not be MTN but looks like they can't give anything for free so i would.Just look what tigo gives free calls all day along, yes yes it not totaly free but it good.somebody tell me if mtn had ever give any free day calls lo......
Posted by kpawuu
welcome ripplestars i once tried the onetouch port 3128 but i wasnt successful...i cant configure the freegate software can anyone help me, and how does the ultra surf work...
Posted by kwabs2006
HURRAY!! onetouch (vodafone) nows offers EDGE (2.75G) !!! a few days ago the gprs was problematic... i just found out it was due to the upgrade to EDGE!! ok i shouldnt be all excited cos... we STILL dont have 3G... yet.. but at least for now customers get faster connections speeds..
kudos vodafone... i can see uve started working already
Posted by Davegee
just double click on the .exe file, go to options - proxy settings and enter your proxy ip and port number if you are using a proxy connection then wait for it to connect successfully.

It's 3G we need mate...!

what's the good news about edge? we are talking about 3G and affordability not edge. tiGO and mtn have edge for the past two years.
you are always arousing peoples emotions for no obvious good reason. better put an end to that.

actually, for someone who uses onetouch mobile internet and his phone as a modem, it's good news for me...
and when did i arouse ur emotions?
Posted by ripplestars
i think guys whether 3g or edge or gprs what really matters the service providers in Ghana are really not living up to expectations and should really start doing something.
on the whole i think tigo is doing well so far with their services and customer services mtn i think they are just lucky so many people got on their network b4 other service providers could develop. You know most people can not just afford to change their numbers cos of lost of contacts.
Oh onetouch i just wish there was something to say about them but lets just pray they pick up really soon cos they are our only assets.
Posted by ripplestars
Finally i think kwab and aqua you need to cool down ok we are all trying to make forum more of coordial and very interesting as it can be so no arousig of emotions.
i sent a forum about if anyone was able to try these ports for mtn and give us the feedback
1128
2128
4128
5128
6128
7128
8128
ok see you guys later

Posted by cobby268
yea how did u configure mtn for gprs? how can u get wireless internet for free
Posted by kwabs2006
@acquah no hard feelings...
so is there a way of configuring gprs without entering an mtn office and paying ghc5??... n how much does a 1gb micro sd memory card cost..
thx
Posted by kpawuu
Guys i really hate this MTN pple....if it wasnt for the fact that most of ma buddies use that network i wud have changed to kasapa.....has anyone realised when u activate the MTN zone the call tariffs is much higher than the normal ones...MTN zone 50% cost abt GHc 0.1000 a minute whereas the normal cost was abt GHc 0.1450 a min,50% is suppose to be half of GHc 0.1450 bt it isnt....can anyone tell me how much i will be charged a minute if i make a call at 0% discount?
Posted by lexoo2020
congrats for migrating from gprs to edge.but mobile internet was down yesterday in the evening and this morning.what we really need is 3g.mtn started testing their 3g some weeks ago but it is not available anyway.Idid a research on their data charges in south africa and compare to what they charge in ghana, this people are ripping us off.wheras 10mb of data is charged at R10 which is equivalent to GHC 1.44,the same MTN in Ghana charges approximatley GHC 2 for 1mb data.mtn is simply greedy !
Posted by ripplestars
Yeah i will also like to know if there is anyway to activate gprs for mtn without having to pay 5ghcedis and if anyone knows how to configure mtn for gprs.
And good to see everyone is happy and ok in the forum.See you soon

who has seen the new glo adverts on metro tv? if u haven't u can catch them on metro tv whenever the glo top 4 matches are on...
even though they weren't produced here in Ghana, i must say the adverts look very professional and high standard... and the content is even juicier.. esp when u hear the part about lightning fast internet speeds n all...
after watching the adverts a couple of times.. i have no doubt that glo is coming is about to change the picture here in Ghana n that we should expect nothing but the best......
i'm proud to say that i'll instantly make a switch from MTN to glo as soon as they start operating.. from what ive seen i'm know i can be assured of the best services n innovations from the green network....
glo all the way..
and indeed ill rule my world with my glo number...
anyone else agree?... or disagree..

Posted by 4767170.

hi all, i was going through this forum and i find it very exciting but with some programs used to bypass firewalls which i will not recommend. the ultrasurf will do a good job but be careful not have vital information on your computer.
that thing may contain a trojan to all access to your computer.i am reading more about computer security and hacking so be careful with free port there will be another free port but may not yet known. i will recommend one of you use a proxy port scanner, it scans for possible proxy ports on the server and if you are lucky and the port has not been placed that far you might grab it and free internet is yours again, they do leave that port open for testing purposes so there is another one.
have good proxy scan and get the free internet u need.
Posted by cobby268
have u noticed that tigo gprs has not been working lately or are they upgrading to 3g?
and what is the best proxy port scanner?
Posted by gordonowusu
You will be charged 0.17 GHC per munite if you have 0% discount. but the normal rate is 0.14 GHC per munite.
cheers

if i am paying GHc 0.17 a minute for 0% discount?..How come i am been charged GHc 0.10 a minute fo 50% discount.Isnt it suppose to be GHc 0.0850? so how come gordon?
Posted by gordonowusu
its simple. when you activate MTN zone, you are moved to a different charge range. i.e. from GHC0.138/min to GHC0.175/min. The normal charge for MTN customers is 0.138, But it is different from MTN zone users. hence you are charged more when you have 0% discount. That how MTN is ripping us.
Posted by kpawuu
oh ok....thanks...So u see guys,MTN doesnt give anything for free..dem dey kill us
Posted by 4767170.
hmmm GPRS on mtn in my town had gone off for six weeks and anytime i called them they told me they would call me back, and that was all,and i had to pay for it even as the service was not working and it cost me 40 ghana cedis. wonder why they dont even care for the ppl who give money, but keeps on looking as if they are the best.
Posted by acquahdd
boy what was the agreement?, 40GHc a month or what? why don't u use onetouch or tiGO which are both cheaper and stable than mtn.
Posted by ripplestars
i want to know why you had to pay 40ghc for a service you had not use. I want to know if you are a prepaid or postpaid user and how did you get to get this service done for you.
i think it is really a good move for gprs service if you really dont get any problems with the service.
About gprs service i think mtn has the fatest and efficient service if only it is working onetouch gprs is very slow to send data and tigo has problems connecting to some sites and has some restrictions to download sizes
Posted by 4767170.
yes i agree with you mtn is fast. And i'm a postpaid user with two line or numbers that's why i lost 40 gh cedis, 20 cedis for each line. u see i have to pay 20cedis every 31th even if i use it or not and i should have told them to remove the GPRS on my phone when it was not working in my area(AKROPONG-AKUAPEM) But because they kept teling me it would be back as they had told the IT guys ABOUT it, i kept waiting for it,and it never did, sometimes i had to call them every two days so after having lost that much i did't want to pay again so i called to hav it turned off.lf they fix it i would use it.
Posted by ripplestars
Well i think i now understand you but i want o know how do you subscribe for this service for a prepaid customer do you just call them and tell them to connect the gprs for you so you pay every month or just tell them you want to be postpaid customer.
Anyway have you not asked why the gprs service is not working in AkuapemAkropong i think you should disconnect from the service and connect back when it is working.

i have the Opera mini 3, but i can't confiure it to use my gprs setting on my phone"motorola l6". Can any one help me Plz.....i need the settings for opera mini 3 on motorola l6
Posted by 4767170.
if you need GPRS on postpaid just go to the Osu office(branch) and it i'll be done for you. from then it dont matter how much you use it 24/7 it would still be the same 20 cedis. And cheers it now working,God..! they even came to my house to check if all is well.,hmmmmm. AND SOMEONE JUST ASK ABOUT SETTING FOR GPRS ON HIS/HER MOTO L6. PLS YOU NEED TO STATE WHICH NETWORK YOU WANT TO USE IT ON.
