Which phone should I get?

Ok I've had K608i for awhile now and also use a 5 year old T68i.
As you may understand I want a new one.
But since there are popping up new SE models I dont know which ones.

I would like to have a phone that I can listen do music and that I can use MMR-60 in my car with. And that is compatible with memory stick duo pro and not M2.

m600i
Since lacks the camera that I will not use and it is a smart phone. Problem is that it has the M2 Memory Stick micro and you can right now buy maximum 1 GB.
w950i
It is a walkman phone with 4 GB, but it is kindof expensive right now. But since it lacks w-Lan and UMTS and is to expensive, i dont know if it is worth the money.
w850i
It is a nice phone with the older Memory Stick duo including 1 gb memory stick. I wonder what is the limit of the memory stick duo you can use, since there are now 4 GB you can buy.
w830i.
I do not care about UMTS, and this is the GSM version of the w850i. Atleast this is what it is said in the sonyericsson homepage. Will this one be cheaper than w850i?
w810i
Or should I just go for the cheap one and get a 2 gb (or 4gb if it is compatible) and use this one?

Also I have heard from a source in SEM that the software of m600i and w950i is kindof still under development, because they are symbian phones.

Well, I think K800/K790 is the best SE phone, but you didn't even mention it....well between w950 and M600 I would go for the M600 because the price difference is TOO BIG and the M600 keyboard is nice!....but I really love w850 ....the problem is that the camera really SUCKS

Posted by DonHusko
well the reason I didnt mension k800i is that I think it is too big and it also has m2 memory stick.
I would like to have something with memory stick duo pro compability

and then I think maybe the
w830i is the best since it is not a UMTS so probably it should be cheaper than w850i

From that models you mentioned I would say the folowing:

- If your network operator does have 3g services enabled, I think you should go for the W850 or W900 (It is not very big diference by my opinion), but if it doesn't have 3g you should go for the W830. It is the same as W850 except the second video call camera.

Hope this helps

Thanks

upon your requirement..W830 is just for you mate

id say the W850i/W830i basicly the same phone apart from 1 lacks 3g
by the way i dont think the camera is bad at all

Well, maybe SUCKS is not the word but if you get into the w850/w830 photos thread you will see that the photos are very bad compared to w800 photos

Posted by DonHusko
hmm ok...

well how much do you think the w830i will be cheaper than w850i?

Posted by QuickShare
maybe 100~200 less than the W850 price..

Posted by BobaFett
imo w810 would be the best option

Posted by QVGA
Well, if memory is a concern for you, then W950 has 4GB of it. You dont have to waste money on memory sticks if you get that one. Plus, W950 is a smartphone, so thats an added advantage.

Hmm... Are you considering the K750i? I just got myself one and it's a brilliant phone even now. It uses the Memory Stick Pro Duo, has an amazing camera with auto-focus and does not have UTMS, which you said you do not need. Considering that it's been out for quite some time now, the price should have fallen by a bit and should be more or less stable.

Apart from W850, all phones he mentioned beat the K750 hands down!

Getting a K800 would be a waste. If music has even a little bit of priority, then K800 doesnt stand a chance.

On what do you base such a statement? The music player in K800 has somewhat less features than in a similar models. My daughter has a W300, forr example, and that music player has some extra features that the music player in my K800i hasn't, but still, the K800 has s a very capable music player, which handles play lists, can read ID3 tags, play by artist, etc. I use the K800 as a music player daily, and I have no problems with it.

On the other hand, since the original poster wasn't interested in using the camera, and didn't care for UMTS, then K800i IS a waste, or at least overkill.

In my opinion, unless you're interested in starting a long discussion, it does not make much meaning in askin a question like "which is the best phone" or "which should I buy", since there will probably be as many opinions aŽbout it as there are posters in the thread. Hopefully, most of the posters will vote for the model they own themselves. The "best" phone is very individual and based upon everyone's personal needs and usage of the phone. The best advice, I think, is to check out various phone comparison pages on the web. There is one on Esato, and another one at SonyEricsson's web site, for example.

Well a reason why I have not ask for K750i is that it is not a walkman.
I think w810i is a great phone but I am starting to like the design of w850i and one that is cheaper that lacks UMTS is great.
Also those that have w850i
what do you think about the sliding funktion? is it good?

I really hate my phones now about calling someone because the keylock does not kick in immediately. and if you go to a meny the keylock function is disabled. Another reason why I am considering w850i.

Those that like m600/w950 isnt it a bit to wide?

Not really.

the biggest minus for me at sliders is the cable, what connects the motherboard to the dispaly. according my friends statement, he is a service guy, lately those cables are really weak and hard to get replacements. sometimes the third party ones are better then the generic ones

Posted by leeboy13
mate is that true..... ive been contimplating buying one for a whiel now, you may have detered me now

Posted by dileepd11
candy bar is the best form factor for a phone but i like slider more.

W850 certainly has better flashlite support and better media player.
W810 has a better camera and is now cheaper.

Choose as per your preference.

The fact remains that you will never regret a w810i. Its the best looking and user friendly SE ever. Its small and in candybar form. It has everything built in except support for stereo bluetooth headphones.

Get a w810 with 2 or 4 gb card now and use it for another year until a cybershot walkman comes along.

I have now decided that I would like to have a
w830i
but since this is not available in sweden i will take a
w850i
instead
Since I can put a 2 GB memory card in it that is not a micro M2 and instead a duo pro
Also the keyboard is inside the phone and I do not accidently call someone because the keylock does not go in.
It is not that expensive

Thx for the help
