is this device thinner or is it just me ?

Posted by >500

this is the link

Well, this is why SE wants to keep these things secret.

I mean, if these pictures/specs are real, I'm definitely skipping the k850i. I never really liked the design to begin with plus I always hoped for the optical zoom. (Is it just me or does the screen look bigger on this new phone?)

However, I doubt this is the k860i... this is such a major upgrade this must be the k950i and, in that case, it might be a full year away.

Maybe i should just keep my k750i and by a 7 megapixel, slim, CCD camera for €150. With these low prices on (relatively) high quality digital cameras, SE really has to keep a reality check on the price of their Cybershot models - top of the line, or not.

Am I seeing things?? Guess not, after all, all the other major competitors have had optical zoom for a while now.......

Nice one, SE! Maybe you'll even put VGA LCD, and answerphone in it, just like 904SH LAST YEAR.....

Oh, sorry, not supposed to be hard on them for being slow, am I??

come on

get a grip!!!

WTF is happening here?

you are right but for me, its fine that they put optical zoom now, but the k850 derserved it. the n93 had optical zoom but their new flagship doesnt even have it and n82 will not have it either

DVB-H is also a first for SE Europe and America. Lets hope there is actually some DVB-H content to watch by the time this appears.

Posted by C905
will the screen be bigger? because it aint fun to watch TV on a 2.2 inch screen, i hope it will be 2.4

I don't know but I was talking about Europe / US. I must remember to use the se smily more.

Posted by >500
@k850

I'm not sure either. Will a Cyber-shot Symbian be as quick to point and shoot? It'll be interesting to see how the Symbian differs. My P990i takes about 8 seconds from lens open to cam UI which is pretty long.

Wow I like

The material looks interesting. Very rubber-like which IMO is much better than the plasticky and cheap looking K850 material. I'm in love with the design, even at this raw label-less stage.

And interesting points to note:
* The zoom keys seem to have moved so that they surround the shutter button. The engravings to my eye look sorta like magnifying glasses.
* No calling keys/C key/activity button present. Leads me to believe that it could be directly underneath the screen.
* No switch for photo functions like the K850.'
* Fastport is on the left side (there is a hole left for it).

All four higher resolution piccies:

So that would mean what? 4 buttons directly beneath the screen? Now thats confused me a bit.

Posted by xumdeo
it'll be there, just a different way of building it

prayers answered eh? hopfully the sensor will be better than k850i as well. hopefully.

how ready is europe for DVB-H?

Posted by goldenface
Not very.

They have only just come together and decided on the format. I haven't noticed and british networks offering DVB-H programming yet. If they have, its very low-key.

A few of the mobile tv handsets have an external antenna. Will this definitely have an internal one?

Could be M2 Card Slot, I don't like the removing back cover, I think K850's idea is better ...

Some sites with info regarding Digital Broadcast TV Standards.

http://www.dvb.org/
* lists all standards around the world and their succession & adaption news.

http://www.dvb-h.org/

Stictly on DVB-H

italy already supports this standard ...

and lastly Nokia big reason to push for DVB H standard.

http://www.mobiletv.nokia.com/technology/dvb/

what a HUGE difference in design speed & features between the N92 from 1.5yrs ago till the N77 now. I really love the design of this phone especially since no HUGE antena.

Posted by xumdeo
the questions should be
1. is this really legit or not? or it's wayyyy to early, like when the first P1i pics appeared

2. does this device have DVB-H? losing its focus from imaging?

Posted by alexlt
I don't think it has DVB-H, it's useless IMHO. I thinks it's an upgrade from K850.

The first pics of K850 were from December last year, so assuming it's true (which seems very possible) this handset will be available at 2Q/3Q of next year

Posted by xironghostx
is this going to be the same ting as k800 - k810??

i don't think this is the real k850 succesor because i will need vga screen, wlan, improoved camera (need something more than only 3x optical zoom), 30 fps VGA video recording and dbv-h(dont think it's a true rumor) to compete with nokias high-end phones in next year. I dont think Nokia i better than SE but their phones are more advanced compared to SE-phones.

Posted by soane28
wow a K850 successor already! Lets hope this is a new trend for SE...

So is this the K860 which eldar has talked about, or is it the K900 or true sucessor of the K850?

Posted by NightBlade

Take a look at my next phone.

Posted by xironghostx
aren't you going to buy k850?

guess this wil be out in the stores summer 2008

Posted by iqtidar
didnt u guys notice that the hole for the xenon flash is bigger...

Posted by xironghostx
yep, but maybe a part of it will be a led light for videorecording like k850

Posted by mustafabay
I think the question is, is this the K860, K870, K880 or K900?

Posted by xironghostx
i would say k870 because of the optical zoom and the rumored gps

Posted by Mizzle
Things aren't always what they seem. Never rely on your first impression / thought...

Posted by rachizzle
finally.. optical zoom

Posted by Aware
Although K880 has a bteer ring to it.....

Oo, I wonder(as there are not components fitted), will this have the rumoured VGA screen??

(Add an answerphone, I can stop hating my 904SH!)

So, what this means? It doesn`t have 3× optical zoom?

Don't worry, it will.

Posted by southpark
Sigh.....

but it seems they are not moving AWAY from the awkward D-pad surrounding #2 key..... no like

Posted by m.h Croatia
That`s only important thing for me. I don`t care about that fancy features like dvb-h (or whatever it`s called) and GPS.
And only 1 question: will this phone be thinner than k850 and how much (you can say "a lot" or "just a little bit thinner", no need to tell exact numbers)?

Posted by Mizzle
Well, that's a subjective matter of opinion, I guess. But I'd say
"just a little bit thinner"

Posted by NightBlade
Can't they just stick the ol' joystick back in?
IMO, it's the fastest means of navigation.

If only.....

Posted by goldenface
It looks a bit thicker considering it has a lens cover.

5.0MP, Optical Zoom, VGA recording and DVB-H has me sold Pity we're gonna have to wait a bit for it.

Posted by bodeh6
Hopefully this one (What ever it is) will have VGA Recording at 30 FPS like current Nokia N-Series phones.

Do you think this might be one of the phones like the rumored P3i to be announced in November? Or will that be too soon for this 3x optical zoom phone?

Posted by xironghostx
it would not be announced before the k850 release because i know for sure that SE isn't that dumb so november sounds pretty good and i guess the release will be Q2 2008

anyone agree with me?

First impressions are a black, Cyber-shot candybar based on the K850i.
