Just add wifi and the phone will sell no matter how ugly it is...that's what thinks about the m610.

As far as I'm concerned, the M-series is for those who needs a business phone, but aren't allowed to have a cameraphone.
And WiFi is a feature that many business people would appreciate.

Edit: spelling.

I like Lizzy's idea. For people who can't afford P1 or don't need a camera

Posted by domipost
but it's so ugly. I like P1i better

FYI, the so704i phone I showed earlier was announced today by DoCoMo

the article on frontpage esato is wrong, so703i is the (old) predecessor of so704i

I like the animations. Very nice - if a bit girly on the one featured.

704 looks very good to me..

Posted by iqtidar
wow! that is so nice... SE world is now only adapting it in their fones..

That new Japanese clamshell is great. Loving the OLED external and the large BRAVIA internal screens

Hope we can see somethin' like this soon (maybe 2008)?

Yeah, something like that would be great on European phones - but it seems that the rest of the world prefers thinner and smaller clamshells over the pretty big and bulky (albeit feature packed) ones in Japan.

ok, but adding only wifi imho wouldn't be that much improvement, better SE put some features!

OLED internal screens should significantly (say 10mm) reduce the size of clamshell phones. Its pretty much proven tech as now Dell & Apple ship several models or just several configurations using them on 15.4" or larger screens. Adding Backlit via LED when needed should significantly increase brightness.

@Prom1
Yeah, OLED screens would be nice, but I don't see them becoming commonplace for at least a few years.

UPDATE:

shaliron, are you sure it's a different phone? It may be the T650 in new colors. Just like the case of Z750 or S500. Thank you.

It's a new phone.

Posted by goldenface
What?!!! Just after I had made my mind up to buy a T650i? I hope the spyshots and specs appear soon enough.

Posted by shaliron
@WhiteEye
Yes, it's a completely new phone. But I'm not at will to give you any more info at the moment.

I'll give you more details in due course.

Posted by WhiteEye
shaliron, thank you for your confirmation.

SE seems to get serious in fashion phone segment.

to shailron

des that mean that europe wont get any bravia phones at all?

Posted by shaliron
@k850 successor
Not specifically BRAVIA branded phones, but the screens will be BRAVIA branded I believe.

For example:
The W990, with a BRAVIA 240x432 screen.

Lin
Erika
Daniela
Akikko
Severine

Let's play a game. Pair the correct modelname with the correct secret code

Anyone up for it?

Posted by shaliron
@Prudent
I'm up for it But what do you mean by secret code? Model number?

He wants us to pair the actual model number with the codename.

Interesting, however the last time we did this the P700i ended up being the P1i.

Posted by Aware
Logic:

Lin/Akkiko = Japanese, so x[W900 successor(notW910)], W890i[W880 successor]

Completely random guess:

Severine = P3i

Posted by goldenface
Erika = next T650i type fashion phone?, T640.

Posted by Aware
You mean the phone Shaliron mentioned??

It's not one of Prudent's codenamed phones.......

....it has the codename Victoria.....

Hmm, still not sure about the other two.....

Posted by SEductive
T640? no.. "4" is not possible

The "similar to the T650" phone will have lower specs (than T650), am I right? Maybe non-UMTS, but EDGE, 2mpx with AF and price about 300$? I'm just dreaming

Fingers crossed for T500

Posted by domipost

....it has the codename Victoria.....

How do you know??

Posted by JC08
When can we expect walkman phones with DSP chips or does the latest generation have them?

Posted by WhiteEye
Lin : successor of Lizy since M600 was used by Lin Vesper:)
Erika: An emotional design phone, since the Japanese artist Erika Sawajiri is the icon of W51S. Another S-series or T-series?
Daniela: S800i Cyber-shot.
Akikko: no idea. It should be Akiko instead of Akikko, after Japanese WTA player Akiko Morigami.
Severine: I bet it's a low-end one:)

Btw, anybody knows the code name of T650, T250 and Z250?

Hi all!

I have been following this thread for months, ever since I first did a Google search for new SE phones. Here in Canada, SE fans are few and far between! I have been a big fan of SE products ever since I first purchased a W800i. Subsequently, I purchased a K790a late last year because I wanted a good camera and a phone. I have not been disappointed.

I have read the specs of the K850 that SE plans to release and its impressive. However, I am sincerely hoping that SE comes up with a device that competes with the likes of the iPhone or the Prada phone or the recently rumoured LG KU990. A multi-touch Cybershot phone with real camera buttons and automatic lens cover would be an absolutely stunning and impressive device. It need not necessarily be a smartphone either. All it needs to be able to do (in addition to the phone functions) is play music, take good pictures and surf the web well. Indeed, I think web surfing is more the iphone's killer app than even its ipod functions. Anybody else share my view?

keithz, are you sure you are not in the wrong thread?

I know this is a rumours thread.....my proposal is a rumour I am begging for....

If any body has heard of a device like that coming out I would love to know....I know there is the P1 and other SE smartphones. The problem for me is that SE does not equip their smartphones with good cams (ie...autofocus, 3MP, and XENON FLASH). In my view, thats what makes the cybershot....I am dismayed when I read Shaliron's excellent lead off page and find that Sony still shooting below its potential...IMHO.

Wrong. T250 was code named Olga.

Hi mate.

SE won't be giving up the traditonal keypad anytime soon. If the iPhone format takes off then may be but SE believes that before anything else, its devices, first and foremost should be excellent phones - something which the iPhone isn't. I don't think any texting competitions will be won on a touch-screen keypad.

they do equip their smartphones with good cameras: W960 an P1i both have 3.2 MP

@thecoolsha

Can we expect a candybar version of the Z750i?

Posted by batesie
some nice pics there kula998

Posted by mustafabay
goldenphace, the K850 has all of the specs in the Z750 plus some so what are you getting at? An emotional candybar with finishing like the Z750, maybe just 3.2MP and of course the new JP-8 platform?

Posted by prudent
I believe there will be another T model released soon.

T790? I don't recall the numbers but it could be the model that laffen talked about.

The fw/os is built on the same platform as W910i.

there's a reason why there's a queen called Victoria
