Only one reason can push the unveiling date. That HQ of SE decided make the announcment 27th February, but i dont think so

I have another theory for you.
A lot of people here on esato had come to expect that only W880i would be announced on 6th February.
I was told, as I am sure others were, that Ai would be announced on 6th Feb and the rest of the phones would be announced on the 11th Feb - and I had absolutely no reason to doubt my source.
So I was very surprised to see 8 handsets announced yesterday - and no-one had a clue about the K810i.
So if announcements for the 11th Feb had been brought forward to the 6th Feb, does that mean another announcement - maybe the Sofia etc announcement for 6th March - has been brought forward to 11th Feb?

Mine is not a theory, its fact.
Reason why to unveil 8 phones now, maybe some UIQ phones on 3gsm congress and Flagship phone aka Sofia later is very clear.
Or you think, that for SE is better to unveil everything in the same time?

Well thats what they did yesterday.
They obviously thought the W880i was special, it had its own countdown site, held competitions for it etc and the word-on-the-streets (ahem!) was that it was gonna be alone in being announced yesterday so why did
change their plans?
They might have found out that other competitors big-guns will be announced at 3GSM. That would be a good enough reason to bring things forward. So some UIQ phones might be announced on 11th Feb?
But anyway, enough pontificating. Its not long to wait until we find out.

Some marketing strategies of SE are really easily predictable,
The next slim Walkman phone (probably W890) will have very much the same appearance of W880 , with following differences:
- 2" TFT
- FM radio with RDS
- QVGA video recording
- and maybe Walkman player 3

Yes. Over on Mobile-review, on the W880i review Elder did mention that in 7-8 months we will see the successor to the W880i with FM radio.
The other features should be included as well.

Based on MR and Rog's comment from MR, I wouldn't put my hopes up. They are very reliable sources. Chances are, the next announcement from SE is after Cebit. Maybe end of March or even April.

I'd say people don't have to be too dissapointed. First, if Sofia is going to have the new UI well the new UI was expected in H207. Then you have to notice that Q3 starts in July, like when the K800 came out. Basically all isn't lost, and we've been expecting a lot more high end phones to come too, in other formfactors.

SE has been releasing/announcing a flagship candybar at around the same time every year. Why SE would suddenly change this is silly.
And if isn't at 3GSM, then there still is Cebit to look forward to.
In fact, the Sofia has been pushed forward for release due to the N95, so there's no strategic reasoning behind delaying it even more. Nor would there be a software issue AFAIK. That dual use new UI may not, probably will not, end up on the Sofia. That's looking even further forward. The Sofia is probably like the change between the K750 UI and the K800 UI. Not really much.

Maybe this is a silly question.. but new UIQ 3.1 (i think) will run on upcomming SE smartphones (Lizzy, Maria, Elena, ???, ???). Will UIQ 3.1 application run on 3.0 or just the other way around is possible?

My point is that it does not make much sense to introduce Maria before Elena if Maria is to come at a later date.

Well the press release for thw W610 says from Q207 so not until April at the earliest. The W880i will be out next month.
EDIT: Just read on the News front page that it will be Quarter107.

It's better not to expect any new announcements this 3GSM by Sony Ericsson so that you won't be disappointed. They can only give us a positive surprise if they do.

Hello,
the Z800i will soon already find a worthy successor.
That at least promises equipment with code name Irina, which is whispered as HighEnd Klapphandy.
Furthermore “Irina” could become first “emotional” mobile phone of SE, that speaks at least some sources.
Technical data are so far few well-known, it should however one of the first HSDPA devices inclusive UMTS, large display and elegant, but nevertheless slim Design be.
Allegedly at least a 2-Megapixel-Kamera inclusive autofocus and photo light is blocked. Whether again the Motion Eye system in employment comes yet did not come out.
Further information follows as soon as admits.
Whether equipment is presented already tomorrow there, is not so far well-known.

I seriously hope that Irina doesn't have the same floating display as z710 or whatever its called. To be a good looking phone, it should to be silver and piano black, business phone, slim, active standby.
I'd be happy to see a thin 15mm z800 copy.
