Sony Ericsson has ALWAYS previewed ahead of 3GSM. I presume this is to ensure they get a lot of press (during 3GSM, it's a mad house) and to show to key clients and journalists that aren't necessarily going over to the event.
Many companies also do/did 'prebit' showcases to the press before CeBIT for the same reason - although if everyone does it then it isn't quite so beneficial!!
My name is down for the 6th February event, so I can confirm that it is 100% real.

The initial rumours suggest that the gaming phone was not just going to be a 'PSP phone'. So I don't think that your concept that you posted is going to be closer to it.
SE probably doesn't want to imitate its Sony heritage too much. Making a phone a PSP is a bit overboard. They still want to have the brand Sony Ericsson, not Sony.
EDIT: And remember some hints about 'previewing' some menus in the new SE UI? This LG layout reminded me about what SE is probably aiming at:

People wanted K750i without joystick..so heres one!!and its branded Cybershot too.I fear,SE are going the way Nokia are...making too many similar phones.But SE does seem to be good in disguising them.

@shaliron i'm still in denial i guess. i really just don't like the looks of this phone at all. the function key area in the front isnt very attractive, and the cyber-shot in the back is too imposing. the elements in the back make the LEDs look huge, even out of place. i neither think it helps that the shift from plastic (much of the backing) to metal (lens cover) is too striking.
of course im just basing my opinion from these spyshots. here's hoping the final product gets rid of all these rough edges
