And to be perfectly honest, I would expect the Sofia to just be a K800 with a better camera, better video, smaller size, 3.5G (HSDPA), larger screen, and other minor improvements, not unlike the K750>K800.
Doesn't stop me from loving the phone, but it's not going to be a jump like the T610 to the K700. That's expecting too much IMO.
What else can they add to a non-smartphone?

Well the Barcelona announcement is an evening announcement but is more of a press briefing linked to the event.
Lets just wait and see.
The W880i announcement was cancelled so this might have been too.

n80 is really crap!!! my friend and his wife bought 2 set of n80 in hongkong last september, 2006, but after 3 months of standard use the 2 unit got an annoying screen problem, so my friend brought it to nokia authorize service center and according to them they have to change the LCD and some parts on sliding mechanism and they charged him $ 160.00/unit.

Yeah, the announcement was for Feb 11, not Jan 11 as someone said.
And if people can understand that selling mid range phones is more profitable than selling high end phones. If you look at the UK top seller list each week, you'd notice that the majority of the phones that are sold are around the mid range. You don't see the N71, N71 or any other N really topping that list for a long time.

Well the reason is that SE is not as big as Nokia. Nokia can spare the money to create high end phones, knowing that they won't sell very well. SE on the other hand would rather make more money with developing mid range phones to consolidate its position in the market.
That's what 2006 and 2007 will be all about. Consolidating their presence in the market. Whilst the N95 sounds brilliant, it's not going to sell massively. Phones like the W880 are bound to sell more and in the end create more money and market share.
But there still are going to be some high end phones in 2007. The same as other years really. The Handycam, Elena, Maria, high end Walkman etc.

I think that this phone will be the true competitor to the Nokia N95. Even though Sony Ericsson will be coming out with a 5 megapixel camera phone, its functions are considered basic. Elena will be more on par with Nokia N95 in terms of functionality, except that its camera won't be as high a megapixel, but Sony Ericsson does produce good quality cameras in moible phones, which for 3.2 megapixel, would be fantastic!
I don't suppose Elena will have xenon flash or optical zoom since its primary function is as a pda and not a multimedia phone.
It has to has HSDPA in order to be "new" enough since most new pda or smart phone models are equipped with that.
I wonder if Elena will still be released in June. If the model shown was more or less ready, except for minor tweaks, then hopefully it will be announced in February and released in June!
My choices are:
1. Nokia N95/Elena
2. Sophia
