That UI is very similar to UIQ 3 UI...

I read somewhere that there was gonna be a sliding version of the k800 with a konica minalota lens sony recently bought the company

This message was posted from a T610

Can you remember where you read that David1975?

Posted by david1975
Yeah i read it in what mobile magazine it makes sense for them to do it having bought konica

I agree, we should have great imaging devices next year.

This message was posted from a S700i

@ares
That interface is fake. Somebody already posted this back when we didn't know about the K800.

And the I-Mobile 902 camera is pretty nice. Most shots are a nice step up from the K800. But it is a mixed bag. Some of the photos look as though it wasn't even taken by the same camera though. Several look really oversharpened, artificial and well, poor.

Here's a section of the bad ones at 100%:
The effect of compression and noise methinks. Weird result.

And this one looks oversharpened, and artificial.

But the rest of the photos look much better, only a handful are like above.
But I like the greater flexibility like ISO (which is already available on the D900 I think). Looking forward to the future.

Posted by shyam335
2MB+ for a 5megapixel is actually common compression(for digicam),the noise was too much in some photos and video at MR was very poor(even though it had good bitrates),maybe its the codec.

Posted by shaliron
@shyam335
Yeah, but that photo had something wrong don't you think?

And here are some photos of an oldish Cybershot from Sony. I just found it and thought of the Handycam phone when I saw it. Except this one is a double swivel, with both the screen rotating twice. Looks like SE is taking even more cues from Sony:

Posted by goldenface
Yeah, I've seen this before.

I'm wondering if could use this form factor. I'm looking at my S700i and thinking mmmmm - it looks possible.

Posted by shaliron
I think the Handycam would be quite similar. First you'd slide up, and then twist left or right. That way the lens would be at the top rather than the bottom of the phone.

Also, I'd like to rant at this site: http://mobil.mkf.se/ArticlePa[....]ministratorer643.dbp.asp#email for copying my entire first post which took a great deal of time to write up and collect! I know it's in Swedish, but it does look strikingly similar. And no mention of the source; that's the least they could do considering it was just a copy and paste.

Posted by n3o
yeah...so I supose we xould se AI in a few days??:)

Posted by goldenface
Well its common courtesy to leave a 'sourced from' - note the freaks.

Take it as a compliment mate, we all know who gathered the info first.

Put a link to this thread in your signature.

EDIT: There is always about 15 people browsing this thread - I bet you're worst enemy at the moment - digging up all their plans for next year he he he. It wouldn't surprise me if other mobile manufacturers had this thread bookmarked.

@goldenface
So I might be helping the other manufacturers am I? We'll have to clear the first post then
But hopefully SE takes the quote 'Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer' to heart, and lets me actually use one of the upcoming phones

@n3o
Well, as has been mentioned in the other thread, the Ai should be coming out in February, so an announced may or may not be coming soon. Someone has said that SE plans to do a quick period between announcing and releasing UIQ phones, so the same may be for all phones, meaning, the announcement could be next year unfortunately as well.

I'd also like to point out, that the W850 was in planning for a long time before it was announced (think memory type), and that was back at the end of May. That was not to steal the K800's thunder. That would explain the slight largeness of the phone, so I'm guessing, only guessing , that a newer and even better slider may be coming out/announced in the near future.

And the english version: http://mobil.mkf.se/ArticlePa[....]/20061113203448_MOB757.dbp.asp
So I guess I'm the insider providing them with all this info within the next few days, huh. Those guys are really something. Making something from nothing as well with those 'spy pics'

Posted by goldenface
LMAO

That is so funny! Shaliron - you're a mole, you'd better be careful you don't get bin-bagged for leaking all this sensitive information.

Well done mate you are officially the 2006 Rumourmongerer of the year!

Posted by bavlondon2
When do you all think the k810 will released. Q1 or Q2?

Posted by *SonyStyle*
What is the name of the rumored US version of the 903si?

I want that one with the 3.2 cam the clamshell and the huge screen

Posted by g-roxx0304
loved the list,shaliron.
can't wait for them to announce it for real though.

Posted by Rifqi_Aziz
@shaliron
Your rumors also posted on se-nse now...

@*SonyStyle*
Either the W880 or the K800 in the different form factor seem to be it.

@Rifqi_Aziz
Well, it's not really my link. I'm obviously the "internal sources at Sony Ericsson" providing all this info But I'm not happy with them taking all the credit for that. I've sent them an angry email telling then to SOURCE THEIR INFO!!!

Posted by bavlondon2
So then are the rumors about the k810 most likley to be true?

Posted by shaliron
@bavlondon2
Well they are still rumours, but I think so.

Posted by rockygali
the sure thing is... most SE phones have sequels... were as far as the late trend goes...

and surely K800 will have its own... 810 will be a possibility... but the exactness of its capabilities are still in a limbo. well it will depend on SE gearing up to what level of market share etc etc... and of course availability of funds and how the RND makes up for their paychecks

but i tell you what... this is getting more exciting than ever... 2007 will be a blast for the mobile industry... 2005 was the war of 2MPs, 2006 with 3.2MPs, damn 2007 is 5MP battle... roxx...

@Rockygali

Very true - 3.2mp is soooooo 2006

What makes it even more ominous is that there are now zero coming soon phones on the website.

Phones were announced by this time last year and the W810i was announced on 05th January 2006.

Well, now we can see the progression of the Cybershot series, just like the series.

We first had the W800.
We first had the K800.

Then the W550, which lacked any memory expansion.
Then the K550/650, which lacks xenon flash.

Then the W900, which was a great overall phone.
Then the Sofia, which sounds like a great overall phone.

Then the W810, which fixed the flaws of the W800.
Then the K810, which looks to fix the flaws of the K800.

I don't think we'll see a monumental upgrade from the K800>K810. It'll be relatively small, just like the W800>W810.

And also, five megapixels! That'll really be the top size that we'll see for mobiles for now. The file size for an image that large is just at about max for today's standards, and physically, current mobile cameras are doing as good as they can muster. I don't expect any camera phones taking sales away from digital cameras, but on the other hand...
phones (or any music phones) are probably going to threaten the mp3 player market due to the fact that the quality is very easy to replicate on a mobile. Just stick in a good chip, software and there you have it. A fully featured mp3 player. We'll see the gap closing I think.

UPDATE:
Notice how laffen has just mentioned the W200 on the homepage? I think we know the model number for Melinda.

It looks like is being pushed full-spread from top of the range to the bottom.

I have requested CES 2007 to be placed in the Esato calendar of events for one to watch. The W810i was showcased at last years event. No doubt this year will see more goodies.

Posted by shaliron
@goldenface
Yeah, I reckon the W200 will be the bare minimum for a phone. If it is based on the K310/320, then it'll have a pretty standard screen, no FM radio and memory expansion with the basic player.
For SE's sake, I hope they improve the really boring design for the W200. The K310 looked very un-inticing to me so hopefully the branding will funk it up a little more.
I also reckon it might be packaged with the cheaper headphones, the HPM-64 That is if HPM means a headset.

Also, I'm happy to see that mobil magazine have cleaned up their act and actually wrote their own article this time. Too bad, some of their information is inaccurate...

Yeah. The playstation symbol used in the interface is old news indeed.

One thing they are right about though - it has been known for both and Nokia make announcements within days of each other.

There have been occasions in the past where just prior to an expected announcement, Nokia have attempted to steal their thunder by announcing products just beforehand. So if you can find out when exactly the Nokia announcements will be you can be sure will follow soon after.

Although in a previous statement - an rep did say there would be no more major product announcements this quarter. Conflicting information.

Posted by shaliron
Well I can't imagine any of the phones mentioned being announced any time soon. Maybe the Ai, but it still could be to early for the February release. The rest seem to be part of net year's portfolio, and I think SE'll hold back so Christmas sales can finish before announcing again.

I say, wait until the major phone events.

Posted by goldenface
I agree.

The K800i and W850i are still at the top of their game sales wise so I wouldn't say releasing similar specced phones at this stage is a good idea anyway.

Thanks to wabre of MR.
The above link contains a lot of pics from the i-mobile phone and apparently the phone has a 5Mp CCD module (So,back to S700 days(?),anyone)

Posted by goldenface
I still have mine, which was lost for a couple of months. Though the argumen still rages as to which is the better - CMOS or CCD. Though why would a CCD module appear on a phone if CMOS was sufficient. Is it something to do with the size?

The Sony camera module above looks impressive.

Posted by shyam335
I was also thinking on similar lines,for such small sensors maybe CCD is better,im not sure.

Posted by cristiano
is there going to be only 1 mobile with 5mpx??

Posted by bavlondon2
CCD = expensive phone

Look at the 903. Its still expensive on contract

Posted by goldenface
Well Melinda turned out to be true W200. Announcement should be soon...

Posted by goldenface
Below is what I hope is a pre-production version of the rumoured slim handset- Ai

From the first post:

Ai
Ultra slim (9.4mm) candybar phone. All the features of the W850. Metal on front, rubberized black material on back. Connector on the side. Keys like the K650 or 8850. Available on the market in Silver and Black. To be announced in November/December. 3G and HSDPA. No flash. Will come out with a 1GB M2 Micro Memory Stick.

Note: The Keypad on this photo looks unfinished. Also, notice the flush screen, Video-Call camera and d-pad. The handset doesn't look any thicker than the charger connector plugged into the side. Large aperture to the left of the keypad.

Is it possible that the keypad will be the same as that on the W950i?

Sneff from www.se-world.net has hinted at roughly 12 new handsets announced/released Q107.

Posted by shaliron
@cristiano
Well the Handycam may have a five megapixel camera.

And CCD sensors are better quality wise, but CMOS sensors use much less power and their quality isn't too far off. It'd also assume than CCD costs more as well, but I'll leave all the explaining to max_wedge, he knows a ton on it.

@goldenface
Yeah, it was true after all. And I think we could maybe expect an announcement soon. It think this'll compete against an area with no real competitors at the moment. The very low end market has next to no phones with memory expansion, so SE will exploit that I guess. But I can see the W300 stealing some of the limelight.

Posted by goldenface
Well the W200 looks rock bottom so it will bring on board younger music fanatics.

BTW: Operator 3 is rumoured to make an announcement today regarding its new service and this will involve new handsets from both and Nokia. Pretty high-end devices (UIQ) too by the sounds of things.

Posted by shaliron
@goldenface
Oh, I'll have to go soon tonight. So I'll only find out tomorrow Excitement!

And those photos, well they look horrible

I'm sorry SE, but if this is even remotely like what is looks like, it's a no from me. But the keys look wrong to me, and the finishing looks very cheap. And it looks like someone just stuck some image over a calculator to create that. The screen is much larger than he 1.8 inches that it was said to be and does bear any resemblance to what we have heard about it, apart from the fastport position and thinness.

For now, I deem that FAKE.

Posted by >500
@shaliron
maybe intended the AI phone to be a competitor with the samsung calculator phone, p300 or what ever its callled

Posted by goldenface
Well it looks far from finished to me - there is not even a logo to be seen so the finished product could look quite different.

Posted by >500
i had the same thoughts goldenface.....

Posted by goldenface
Still no word on the camera specs of Ai unless its the 2mp of thw W850i.

Posted by shaliron
@goldenface
The Ai has the W850's camera. 2 megapixel without autofocus, but not sure on whether there is flash or not, probable though.

Posted by aka Dus
How come all this info is so freely known??!

They aren't very good at staying confidential, are they?

Posted by goldenface
@aka dus

It isn't that freely known. A lot of it is informed guesswork and some is from trusted sources.

It is the result of a fine piece of news-gathering by our very own Shaliron who has managed to combine info, from many sources, into one place and create a useful, interesting and convenient thread.
