LF a cheap wireless router and help needed for router

i need one tht will work when the pc is turned off.
needs to be returnable incae for some reason it doesnt work with my internet and needs to be under Ł40.
preferablly brand new

just been readin something on tinternet and it says that a wirless router doesnt connect to the pc and act as a modem?
is tht true?
if so plz can u help me in explaining it?
