THE QUEEN was praised yesterday after converting a room at Windsor Castle into a MOSQUE.
She took the historic step so Muslim staff have a quiet place to pray during Ramadan, Islam’s holiest month.
“It was an incredible act of kindness within her own home.
“The Queen is the head of the Church of England so it’s great to know she respects other people’s faith.”

go Queen!

I'm not a huge fan of the Queen..specially the way in which she treated Princesss Diana....royalty is a bit outdated now anyway, time to move into the 21st Century and get rid of ancient practices.
I mean look at Prince Philip....i swear he's on something...i really hate that man!

WOW atleast the Queen realises helping one another is the way for a brighter future.... thats what I call World Peace!!!
I hope everyone on this small planet see what she see, and work together. One Love.

the Queen is part of the country.
I do not think you should get rid of the Queen or the Royal Family. They should just be more integrated into the system.
Posted by axxxr
Integration is fine....but i think the monarchy should be abolished for good...its very primitive and doesn't look right for the times we live in.
The Queen should sell all her castles and estates and give the money to charity...Just imagine how much more respect she would get for doing that!

well I can't say anything regarding monarchies in general since they work fine and are supported by the people in the Middle East.
Posted by axxxr
I'm also against the monarchys in the middle east...specially Saudia, its like a dictatorship and the general public there don't particularly support them either...just that they are too afraid to speak out for obvious reasons.
It should be just people power and that it!

I can say 99% of Qataris, Bahrainis and Emiratis support it.
I'm not Saudi, then again, Saudi is restricted someone.
I love it. My King takes care of me, so I support my King.
Posted by axxxr
yeh sure but i'd say even 90% of the U.K population support our Queen, but monarchy is a outdated concept and should be abolished...just isn't right in the 21st century...she's the Queen at the taxpayers expense,i.e my money.
Us the hard working public are paying for her Castles and her lavish lifestyle....that money could be better spent on Hospitals, the Homeless and the other needy charities.

This really gets my goat!
In some countries (the maldives for example) your not even allowed to take a bible into the country, because it's a 100% muslim country. You can even have your bag searched at the airport for any bibles or crucifix (no joke). So why do we except other religion here?
The world needs some balance!
Or simply no religion at all!

What is defined as 'outdated'? Democracy was first recorded in ancient Greece and I don't consider that to be outdated.
The monarchy is a link to our past. I don't see any need to fix something that isn't broken.

The Civil List is given in exchange for revenues from the Crown Estates. The Civil List amounts to £7.9 million each year, of which 70% pays the wages of the staff working for the Queen, not the Royal Family. The Crown Estate is estimated to be worth around £5 billion and to generate around £184 million in profit for the government each year. In the period 2003-2004 the monarch received less than £40 million in funding from parliament, whereas the profits from the Crown Estate amounted to over £170 million. I would say that is a pretty good deal for the taxpayer.

No we're not. The Crown Estate profits, as I have already mentioned, far exceed the money the Queen receives from parliament in return for the Crown Estates. I also pointed out that almost three quarters of the Civil List does not go to the Royal Family, but rather pays the wages of those working in the Royal Household.
The Queen receives approximately £35-£40 million from parliament each year. What exactly would do that do for the NHS or starvation in Africa or AIDS epidemics or the homeless situation? Not a huge amount is the answer. To be frank £40 million is not a lot of money when it comes to tackling big problems. It may very well allow one to feed some people right away or it might allow one to hire some more nurses and doctors, but it would do relatively little in the grand scheme of things. To really tackle the major problems in this country (and the world) billions of pounds (if not tens of billions) needs to be allocated.
I would far rather we spent money on a monarchy, which gives a great deal to this country than things like the Millenium Dome, which cost the better part of £1 billion. Now that is a real sum of money that really could do a lot of good!
On a personal note, the Queen is said to not to like wasting money(does anyone remember the tuppaware boxes shown in one of the newspapers?).

Indeed the Monarchy is a symbol.
@Burgaz, it's a good thing that ONE country's actions doesn't represent every other country in the world
I've never even heard of a country not allowing a Bible.
(it's probably the only country in the world)
I will not believe it though until I see an official source. (not saying I don't believe you, but alot of false information seems to spread on line and people enjoy such false information)
I was looking at
http://www.odusa.org/Display.asp?Page=WWL2006_Top10
What's written there is utter BullS**t. There are churches and MANY people with different faiths in Saudi Arabia.
They said "Most of the arrested Christians were eventually released."
LIES, ALL LIES.
So sadly alot of websites seem to love to spread lies.

well done queen, i salute you mam.

Anyone think this might be a publicity stunt, to you know, try to appease the muslims who have been upsetted by recent events? It's just a thought really, I mean it could be true but then again look at the timing of this announcement.
Posted by axxxr
I didn't think of it like that....but now that you mention it,i'm having my doubts!

I quite agree with Axxxr, that monarchy MUSTbe abolished ! Just look what just happened in Thailand where their Prime Minister was OUSTED when he was to attend the UN Assembly some weeks ago . . . the King, connived with the military . . . now they've just placed an interim Prime Minister - a retired general at that !
Posted by whizkidd
I don't think monarchy or even dictatorship should be done away with IF THEY ARE BENEFICIAL TO PEOPLE... But i guess...this happens very rarely....
Posted by axxxr
either way i think it should be left for the people to decide if they want them in power.
We should have elections on the monarchy aswell...keep em or trash em....i say off with dere eads!

Lets not get the topic out of our hands..... stop all this Hate & What If, its all words of the Setans..... all I see is... theres a Good will in the Queen to restore order and peace... may or may not be in previous events.
If not for the Queen, than who will??? Its a great start.. I'm loving it, and God Allah will see the Queen's deeds, for making this Huge step.. may peace be with her and for all of us, in this world.
W'salam.

What a kind thing to do!
If only more people acted like this, and there was less HATE, then the world would be a nicer place.
I can't understand how people can see wrong-doing even in this kind gesture.
Oh and the Queen is very relevant in this day and age.
The simple fact that a Government can't be formed in the UK without HM the Queen's consent ensures there will be never be dictatorship and that there will always be a stable, relevant government in power in the UK - for the People.

@ jojo they ousted the prime minister in thailand because he is corrupt and was not doing his best to serve either the king or the people of thailand. There were massive demonstrations by the people against mr thaksin . if the military hadnt stepped in things could have got much worse there. Btw the military has the full blessing and support of the thai king whom the thai people greatly respect. On the post topic though..think was a good decision by the Queen.

Now if the King not been there supporting the coup I doubt the Military would have received much support from the people at all.
Posted by SsTiTcH
@ goldenface .. True as the thai people revere there king even though there is a democracy there. And it was the calmest coup in thai history. The military is quickly setting up a new govt. they already named a new pm.
