He he he.
I like this feature and there should be more accesories like this, like a BT alert that slips into your wallet.
Its very rare that your phone and wallet are apart when you're outdoors so I would like to see another device that slips into your wallet, the size of a credit card, that will cause your phone to rumble when either is out of range.
Anyway, this looks nice. I was a bit worried about the weight but we'll see I suppose.

It would be better if the device in the wallet started to rumble as well, it might scare the thief that took the wallet...
Posted by goldenface
Yeah, that would be useful. I think a loud high-pitched audio alert in the wallet might be easier as most wallets are quite slim.
(sorry for going off topic...

since we are alerady OT, why not add some smoke, or why not mace, or a small explosive ink charge? You might have problems with bringing the wallet with you on a plane though. To return somewhat to the topic, will the BT watch be allowed on a plane? Or is it possible to turn off the BT temporarily?

This does look like an amazing watch and the beauty of is that it doesn't look tacky or naff.

I'm sure there will be a method of switching the bluetooth signal off, even if they didnt think about problem when boarding planes its still a matter of conserving battery power
Posted by altemyr
If you compare the battery lifetime with an ordinary watch, in which a battery lasts for about 2 years, in some models even longer, I think it will take a while to get used to the battery lifetime in these BT watches. recharge once a week or so...

No white paper available at the se developer site yet, and nothing found at se's support pages either. For the calculated price they want to charge for it, one could at least expect some kind of desk stand for it, preferrably with inductive transmission of the charge current, (like in my electric toothbrush).

Hmm this is cool, but i wonder if it will work simultaniously with a HBH DS 970 BT headset, which i use a lot?

Any word on when this watch is available.

"Q4"

About the bluetooth off bit: i recall seeing a image on Engadget that indicated that one icon on the oled display showed bluetooth status. And the same image indicated a button to access a options menu of some sort.

Sony ericsson just got back to me via email and they say that the watch is compatible with the w950
Posted by PeterKay
did you ask regarding the p990i?
Posted by mrmilo69
Sorry i didn't, but if you send them a message through the site, they'll reply in about 2 days. Mind you, the first time they didn't answer my question, so i hope they get back to you.

nice. fast port on the back? lol
Posted by Shienarier
I mailed SE about the clock not supporting P990i. I got an answer that the clock was just maid to support the walkman series. Is there a hardware reason for this or is it just a matter of the programmers so att support to P990i and others?
Posted by PeterKay
Any news on the official release date for the watch yet!

@Toney_Ericsson
Look towards the bottom of the review on Mobile-review.com: http://www.mobile-review.com/review/sonyericsson-mbw100-en.shtml
Gives pictures and info and how the watch is charged. Disappointingly, if the battery on the watch runs out the analogue hands that tell the time also stop as well! When you recharge you have to reset the time again.

Review has some nice pics and a 44mb video, downloading it now....
Posted by PeterKay
WOW, what a quality video by Mobile Review. A must to watch if you want this watch. Download it Here It is 44.1mb but well worth it folks.
Shows functionality with an M600i and playing Music via Bluetooth.
Quite Funky

Me too, the silver one is smart.
Works fine with the M600i which is UIQ 3 so does that mean it works with the P990i?
Posted by tonyitalian
hmmm,i wonder...... hope so!!
Posted by PeterKay
Must do, can't see why it will work for the M600 and not the P990?
Posted by Shienarier
SMS notification wont work with a P990, and i don't think that the media controls will work with it either. The media controls only work with the walkman models. But that seems really silly and i have mailed Sony Ericsson and asked why not everything works, and when they will write a proper driver for the P990 so that everything works.

Anyone else seen the video link mentioned above? What do you make of the watch! and do you think its worth the money?
This link is worth watching too folks:

Have to say that as a phone fanatic and a watch fanatic, the two go together like bread and butter for me, and it seems very easy to use, just a shame about the battery life, but putting it in the charger dock over night is not a big issue i suppose. Price wise, i think it is a bit steep, but will proberbly get one anyway. K800i and W850i are listed as compatable phones, so I will be OK.
Posted by baste07
its estimated to sell for about $400
Posted by axxxr
£200 in the U.K
Posted by mrmilo69
If it's priced at $400 in the US. I'd say about £220-250
Posted by PeterKay
still not cheap!
Posted by mrmilo69
Not cheap at all, I'm tempted to get one. When you can answer the watch and speak to people through a watch, i think I'll get one.
Maybe a few years from now SE will release a watch you can stream video to!

tomorrow
Brilliant news.

It does look great but this is yet another charger to plug in isn't it?
It's going to be plugged in next to your bed and will get hot through the day and use power etc for the sake of a bit of overnight plug-innery.
It's just getting a little annoying now. That's the one thing I have against bluetooth headsets - they are always discharged when you need to actually use them. I certainly don;t want to spend a week on holiday with yet another set of wires in the suitcase.
Otherwise I love the thing.
Posted by mrmilo69
This watch could have been absolutely perfect if it had a small backup battery to run the watch on when the other battery had expired, so still having a watch but without all the features if you haven't charged it.

Not available on Expansys today..........
