Cool Themes, cool colours and a different feeling than another windows computer. And as mentioned touch screen can't live without it anymore.

symbian means multitasking with nice perfomence

I'd say the benefits of a phone like the M600 is it's ability to multi-task, manage your schedules and plus the advantage of touchscreen input makes it very desirable.

apart from the "different feeling than another windows computer" comment, I don't see any replies here that wouldn't apply equally to windows mobile devices...

...so... what is the benefit of Symbian?

"just because" is not really an answer to the question

well, there's the brand name for a start...nokia is obviously the known world 1..that carry's it along way..and since nokia own a large chunk of symbian, a large number of people (i'd have thought..certainly when i was managing cpw) bought symbian devices without the knowledge of what they were...image the user finding things out over time about what they are using...

Availability is another factor..i don't see cpw, or any other major reatiler carrying windows mobiles on a constant basis at all...then you have the issue of get the device fixed when (and from what i have experienced..it certainly is WHEN) The device goes funny....

theres a few other reasons too..but right now, i'm a bit stoned...my appolgies masseur...

I agree with masseur none of the replies really show whats so good about symbian, i think initally it was the form factor and the fact the they were designed as a phone first and a pda after...while the windows phone are more pda first then phone (although the tytn has closed the gap now)

i like the symbain os, cos it allows an individually set device, many programs run in the same time, tons of useful and interesting apps can be installed, its just like a tiny office. i have to admit, i wasnt in the past a big fan of the "swiss-knife" solutions, but when i had 6680 first, i made up my mind.

Hi all,
IMO the really simple answer is in which ever suits your needs and style best.
IMO the advantage of Symbian used to be it it was very Ram efficient and stable, you could also add multiple apps and have them all running at the same time with very little or any problems. Now Symbian has increased security built in and 3rd party apps are having problems integrating easily and suddenly Symbian is sucking Ram like a Vampire. IMO the manufacturers need to add another 50%-75% free Ram so as to be able to truly MultiTask on these new smartphones and avoiding 3rd party apps doesn't hurt either to keep your unit running smoothly.
