well from what I know if someones send you a pic it'll be small unless they are shooting in 1MP or higher, not sure how it would appear big when forwarding the same pic from your phone tho'

Hello

I have the same problem. And it's coming from the phone because I have a K750 and the picture size stays the same.
With the K800 I receive a VGA (1MP) size picture. It looks like the phone is scalling down the picture automatically. But can't find a function to stop that !!!

dont know if this will work,try going into messaging,scroll down to the bottom to settings,picture message,picture scaling-select either off,640 x 480,320 x 240 or 160 x 120.

Already tried and doesn't work
does anybody else is having the same problem ?!?!

To resume the situation (and I can't believe we are not more in the same case!) :
all the pictures message I received are scaled down automatically. And there is no way to turn this off ! for example when someone sends me a 49 Ko picture, I receive a shrinked 4 Ko picture.
I just updated to the latest firware (R1ED001) and same problem.

No problem with sending MMS. The person that receives it has the same size as the one I send.

I have the same problem on my SE W850i the picture is small and it loses kb also. No one seems to know why, I've been fobbed by O2, Carphone Warehouse and SE won't even reply - it seems like we've all got the same problem which no one cares about once they taken our cash!!

hey... the problem is not in the phone, it is in the network. The network has a list of phones with their capabilities which includes the screen size. Say if your phone is not in the list then it will take a default screen size(which may be actually smaller). it will do a transcoding to this screen size and then send it to you... So call up your operator.

I'm not really sure about roopa's comment. Here's why :
If you uncheck the auto-download MMS feature, the MMS will not go directly in the phone (in stays in the operator server) BUT you will receive the header. And if you get the "info" and the header you will see that the MMS size is right.
So the scalling-down procedure happens when you actually download the MMS on the phone.

Hmmm... but maybe roopa is right and the operator checks the phone before uploading the MMS on the phone. dunno, but I can say that it's really frustrating. Having a K800 with a screen that size and quality and receiving 6 ko MMS !!!!!!!

hey boukob... you are partially right....The scaling down does happen only when you are actually downloading the message and not when uploading.

When you start downloading the message something called the uaprof or the user agent profile of the phone is sent with the request. using this request the network identifies your phone model and then scales down the image to your size.

Why dont you check by sending a picture image to your number itself and see if it is getting scaled down....

Ho !! yu can imagine that I tried many times... I send to myself a 50 Ko pic and I receive a 5 Ko pic.
There is absolutely no problem with sending MMS to others, they receive the right size picture. I even sent a MMS from my k800 to myself and before receiving it I put the SIM card in my old K750 to receive the MMS on it... and it works fine.
So the problem is really receiving MMS wih K800

hey... do u face this problem with other file formats say audio mp3, video etc...

Hey guys,

I'm having a problem getting T-Mobile's MMS settings installed to my phone.
I had a mate send me a picture and it said "Please go to http://blah blah to recieve your blah blah..." so I just assumed my MMS settings were not installed.

I went over to T-Mobile and had them send over the settings but it would just refuse to install.

Anyone experienced this problem too? I tried searching and got no real working solution.

Thanks in advance

hi gaurav.... jus chck if u hav subcribed MMS with ur service provider.... customers who hav not yet activatd mms usually get a url to check thr mms over internet....

Posted by whizkidd
@gaurav, why not try entering the settings manually? As for the mms shown as link, this is if the guy your're receiving the mms from is on another network and if urs and his networks are not in the best of terms. Believe it or not, sometimes even if you have activated mms, when someone sends you an mms, from another network, you're given a link with username and pwd to download it.. this was common in india with airtel and bpl mobile mms..although there were no issues with hutch/orange...

My problem magically resolved by itself....
Must be the provider who discovered that there was a problem with K800. They must have been been waiting to have a lots of complain before realizing...

hey boukob.... atlast ur problm is solved.... but the way it was solved remains a mystery that v might never find:)

Hey I too have K800i using T-Mobile in California, this happened all of a sudden. I would receive pictures via MMS in the size as they were sent from the sender, beginning in Feb 2007 that all changed I started to get resized pictures, and its frustrating, i got this phone for its picture handling capabilities. I called T-mobile and they can't find the problem. I did a master reset on my phone, reloaded the MMS configuration, made sure the "picture scaling" under settings was at none (even if i put the largest setting 640 x 480 it still makes them small) so now i am stuck receiving pictures the size of thumbnails where i used to receive them normal size where you could actually call it a picture. This happened all of a sudden no changes to my MMS setting just one day all i recieved were tiny pics around 6kb, i can also send and it sends fine, but if i send to myself its resized to 6kb. Please someone post some useful suggestions (I am pretty phone savvy and been sending MMS for years so its not like I am a noob who doesn't know what he is doing, hell I even managed to change the available languages from the asian region phones so i can support spanish and english even after sony ericsson said it wasn't possible!!!)... I think there is something that T-mobile is not finding when they are checking my network settings. please email me at robvxd-k800@yahoo.com maybe we can brainstorm on this. I will still keep looking into it.
