I have exactly the same noise from environment problem... and i've been using SE for 6 models. Next time i will consider other brands.

SE really sucks this time....
i had R1ED001 but old EROM so i went to get my K610i upgrade to R1ED001 (with new R3A016 EROM)
Now i notice that internet get connected immediately after i press internet short-cut.... (this is bad! eventhough this is solved before with same R1ED001 firmware! just different EROM)
And when i set a video as the default ringtone.... it won't show the video when i get phone call, instead it gives me default SE midi tone! (wtf?) so i have to set video tone 1by1 for each contact.
i must say this is the first SE phone that's so bothering me.
how can it passed the "QUALITY CONTROL" ??????!!!???

not sure why this thread is quiet! the k610 is a great little phone, had it a few days and already popped generic firmware r1eg001 on. great phone and a nice upgrade from a nokia 6680!!

on my 610 the firmware is dated 060915 so i imagine its not been out too long. Not sure about its release elsewhere, and yes a changelog would be nice if anyone has this info...

Does anybody know whether the filter on a mobile phone's microphone that reduces background noise is hardware or software controlled? If it is software, I might hold onto my K610 until Hong Kong gets the new firmware and pray it makes a big improvement. Otherwise, I'll sell and get a Nokia...

Sorry if this is a bit out of topic.
I just bought yesterday an Evening Red K610i with R1ED001 firmware (EROM : R3A016).
I read everywhere that K610's bluetooth version is 2.0 with A2DP.
However, I still can't found a menu like "Transfer Sound" in its Media Player, also always failed when pairing this phone with HBH-DS970 (in multipoint position cuz previously my DS970 is paired with my P990). The phone can't recognize the DS970, vise versa.

can someone update the 1st page with r1gb001 firmware info, quite a few points from the k800 firmware thread apply, ie:
R1GB001
- Released on Wotan on 30/12/06
Improvements
- Updated Video folder - video thumbnails now play when they are hovered over.
- Highlighted menu item animation is now supported.
Bug fixes
- Selecting More / Information on the Applications and Games folders no longer returns 0KB used and 0 files.
I have checked these on my k610i with r1gb001 firmware..

Probably you have to re-install the applications on your card so they work again.had mine on phone memory and had no problem with new firmware.apart from the crash in the video folder when hovering long mp4 video,180mb.

this may be why r1gb001 isn't available for you as yet. You could maybe upgrade via wotanserver.com , if you don't mind losing the orange branding/customizations.

Not sure if this has been answered already but I'll ask anyways.
I live in the US and bought a euro version of K610i. Turns out it is has a australian or british planet 3 network thing installed on it. Tried updating firmware from wotanserver to debrand it, but I still have several "3" menu options and still cant chose the languages I selected from wotanserver. Is there any way I can get rid of this? Tried master reset after I did the firmware upgrade as well, but nothing helps. And now the backlight wont come one when I use it. Have to turn it off and on again for the backlight to come on.

Just disregard my above question. I tried flashing it with an older firmware and then used SEUS to upgrade that one to the newest Europe 4 firmware.. that finally took away all the remnants of Planet 3.

I'm in the UK on a K610i Orange branded company phone (so I probably shouldn't upgrade through Wotan).
I'm thinking there must be an error in SEUS, because my software is: R1CB001
That seems to be VERY old.
Can anyone confirm that this is indeed the latest software for UK Orange branded K610i phones?

Having K610i with R1GB001 unbranded firmware, apart from the video preview bug i also noticed the following: Call list has problem, not recording may entries, and some times the green volume "balls" during music and video play back don't appear. Really dissapointed. Will this new firmware version be on SEUS soon? Does it fix the above mentioned bugs?

ok, problem with call list sorted with clearing it up from options. What happened was after an unanswered call, the activity box would appear but displaying shortcuts instead of missed calls. And didnt register anything (incoming, outgoing calls etc), till it was cleared up. Strange.

hey i have a k610im and i am trying to change my firmware to a k610i R1GB001 using wotan. i am from singapore and this phone i got it frm a contract with a local service provider :starhub.......so after i change my firmware with wotan, will my phone still work and can can my contract still continue? what to do after i flash? will it continue to be a normal phone? Pardon my ignorance, i am new at this...

Oh, great, having updated phone to latest firmware R1JG001, i connected it with the pc and checked for new updates with SEUS. Tells me there is an update! Apply it, and now here i am, back to R1GB001!!!! It actually downgraded the phone! Nice one Sony Ericsson
