With camera phones now getting better and better, why doesnt esato run a monthly challenge for anyone who wants to participate. Each month a mod will come up with a phrase and then the members will take a picture regarding that phrase...so say the phrase is bright lights....then the member takes a pic regarding bright lights in their own way. Then the winner is declared at the end of the month....its a good way to show off your phones capapbilities and you camera skills!
What do you think?

thanks everyone for your responses, i love taking pics and i know i always have my phone on me so i know if there is a challenge to it itll make me wanna take some original pics and we all get the best of our phone and see what theyre really capapble of!

i know that best pic takes 9 photos in a row. besides that, what it differs from the burst option on k750?

best pic: 9 full resolution images. On K750 the burst takes 3 pictures at VGA. cheers

well some if not all photography sites (i.e. www.imaging-resource.com) have pics of the day feature. And they do allow if not encourage picture editing. I have nothing against it (I can't do editing myself), except for the following:
1) we're not shooting with digicams. any editing to the pics will somewhat mask the capabilities of the phone, which as I understand is one thing that this is all about
2) it could turn out to be a 'i-can-edit-better-than-you' contest.

I think this is an excellent idea too! Sounds like fun. But I don't think we should edit them (unless there was an additional group for editted pics). Hopefully this will get started soon!

if these point werent cleared... then we are just copying the Phone Photos section... post anything you like..even with a simple phrase guide... it will boil down to "whats the next interesting photo to look at" contest.
ill bet it will not even turn out to be a contest after all.
therefore if the MODS allow it.. then someone or maybe a group of people should sit down on it and polish rules for this brilliant idea.
and winners will be rewarded.... a standing ovation

Well seeing as you can already vote on the pics in the phone photo section why dont the mods simply announce which photo has the highest number of votes once a week/month. Saves setting up a whole new way of doing things.
edit: actually you already can view the highest rated pics http://www.esato.com/phonephotos/index.php?toplist=yes maybe announcing this to the forum and resetting the scores every month would be more interesting though.

and you dont just have to use the 'best pic' feature, you can use any feature of your phone.....
you cant use existing pictures either. It has to be new. So say if the phrase was 'a small world' and someone posted a pic of an insect that was really good 4 weeks ago, then thats no good because you havent taken it especially for the challenge. It has to be took after the phrase in order for you to go out and actually take pics and use your imagination

I think we can use any non-edited picture, most of our best pics are taken in a unique moment.

Why not have it as follows. 1. Open to all camera phone pics only. 2. Follow set weekly themes .. 3. No photoshop or editing. 4. Judging based on vote. With catagory / theme changing weekly or monthly depending on which would be more convenient. Think would be very interesting to see.

i mean... pictures posted here are usually shrunked. were basically on the same foot by then.
now its a matter of composition... so the only editing to be done on the pictures are size... no more no less... should we still be lookin for the full res photos?!

If the moderator's can make it a sticky i would moderate this one thread and monthly competition and come out with the ideas for each month. It would mean i could not enter but if the mod's are not gonna reply in two years maybe thats what it will take
