Is anyone having problems with their P990i?
I AM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It crashes all the time.If for example i edit a contact with the flip closed and then open the flip whilst still editing because i may want to add a symbol/punctuation mark (which is easier doing so by writing on the screen) the screen goes white and just sits there like a lemon!Close the flip again and yep it just sits there like a lemon! In fact the only way you can do anthing is by pulling the plug! And even then it seems to have reidual current to keep the thing alive, its like terminator where it reroutes its circuitry for additonal backup power!
I have tried the usual reset master reset but nish.
Anyway i am finding it teadously slow as well, dont get me wrong i am a p series fan had them since the 800 in fact was having to use that for the last few weeks as i crunched my 900 in my car boot lid and was waiting for this 990 brick to come out i must of been mad!I am sure it is just a software problem and vodafone are sending me a new one (when they get them back in stock)but at the mo there is no updates on the se web site.
Incedently vodafone have stuck their poxy start up and shut down screen on mine ,does anyone know if you can replace that with a new popcorn as you could on the 800 or is it buried deeply in the depths where no can reach?

I was having some crashes and many bugs too, so I upgraded to R7A01 now some bugs have already been fixed but I still have some crashes.

I guess we have to wait another month atleast until SE comes up with another update. !!!

I remembered having these kind of crashes on my P800, I didn't have any problems with P900 and P910 though.

yup they drove me crazy that's why I got rid of it,

don't worry your unit is not faulty, they're all like that
but seriously upgrade to latest firmware it does fix some issues.

Hi all,
It appears there are no updates avaiable for the ones that come from Voda and a lot of people with these seem unable to connect to the Internet via wi-fi on Voda units also.

Mine is a voda version... and no problems whatsoever connecting to the internet with wi-fi. I'd put it down to incompatible routers/wifi points or... no offense intended, user error.

I think nobody should buy contracted phones from companies such as Vodafon, O2, etc. etc. Those restricted phones do not get updated as fequently as the sim free phones.

What is your firmware on your P990

Those bugs have been discussed since last month and it looks like it is being repeated in the UK although it has just been released this month.

So if you guys are saying there is an update where are you getting it from cos its certainly not on the SE web site unless its been updated today.
My phone is a voda it does not have their crap OS on it thats the first thing i askedd but it does have their stupid popcorn start up shut down nonsense on it.
Why do companyies insist on putting their crap OS systems on when the manurfacturers spend millions developing their own?
I can connect to my wireless router but it does not send recieve any info status bar says connecting but nowt happens and okb on the status in wlan settings. Very odd.
Voda are sending me another phone out but thats will probably be just in time for the London 2012 olympics!!!

Technically the voda p990 has actually been branded, and vodafone probably haven't given the 'OK' to the new firmware, which is the reason why there is no update available.

This means the only way to get the latest firmware as and when they come out, we will have to unbrand the voda handsets.

I had a voda phone from a store and from online and they both do the white screen with the editing contact opening the flip. I left it and after a few open and closing of the flip it goes into the contact as if the white screen never happened. Im waiting for the sw update from voda as im happy with the hw just the sw is buggy.

I remember about 1.5 years ago a friend bought a second hand lVoda P910, there was a Voda logo glued to the phone and you could see the Voda logo on the screen when you turn the phone on. Because we had the both same phones we met one day and did a software update. Mine was updated flawlessly, but his phone didnt get updated by SEUS. He was pissed and he went to a local second hand phone shop where he had his phone flashed with new software. HE told me it took him 5 minutes to have phone flashed, the Voda software was gone and now his phone was working as a sim free phone and we were able to upgrade the phone easily afterwards. I could ask him how he did this but now he lives in Cyprus and we lost contact since last year.

I think as someone mentioned earlier companies like Voda, O2, Orange, etc etc is controlling this situation on their best advantages. That's why it is always best to buy sim free phones.

I am sure it's because of the Voda branding. That's u can't upgrade.Reflashing is a sollution but the problem is that if ur phone breaks they won't repair it under warranty. So I guess it's ur choice.

I think so to. I had a few initial problems, so I just read the threads here about WLAN settings and managed to resolve it. I'm very happy with mine

You can upgrade but that does not get read of the start up popcorn as that is written into the rom Z file

Mobile phone companies like Voda are like dogs. They gotta pee on the hydrant (P990, etc.) to leave their mark. Just like in real life. Some days you are the dog, some days you are the hydrant.

Dogstar if you goto those local phone shops they will flash your phone so good no traces of Vodaphone, O2 etc will remain. However as mentioned your guarantee will be void.

Another friend who lived in UK was visiting us abroad for holidays. He was using a Vodaphone P910i phone, while playing a game on the phone the phone crashed so badly, he had to take the battery out. When he put back on the battery, the phone did not start anymore. So we tried to fix it with SEUS, (until recently SEUS had a REPAIR option which you could fix, but SE removed it later on somehow) because the REPAIR option was cancelled by SE we could not manage to update the phone. So we called SE Istanbul and they said that this phone is Vodaphone branded and they can not help us.

There was two options for us. 1) Wait for him to go back to UK 2) or have the phone flashed at a local second hand phone shop.

So we went to the phone shop, we told the guy at the counter that P910 no longer worked, he told us it would be no problems but since they didn't have any Orange Software, they would update the phone with latest Sim Free version and if we did the update that my friend would loose his Orange guarantee blah blah blah... so we agreed and he uploaded the software and P910 started working as a sim free phone. There was no Voda logo or nothing remaining on the phone....
