A standard IR device hooked up to your computer works great ! Then you can transfer MIDI:s, Images, Themes...anything...

Does anybody know of software that will crop MIDI files?

You just use Sony Ericsson "MY Pictures" application. Works fine for me. To find new midi-ringtones just search for "midi songs" on google or similar.

i have a question too, say i found the song in midi format, and it is the original length, meaning over a minute, so then if i upload it to my nok7210 (or in this case t300) what will it play, first 20 sec or the whole thing???? i thought ring tones are supposed to be short like 20 sec the most, if that is true can anyone suggest any sw to cut out parts of the midi file... please.

On T300 it plays the whole midi file.

I use Win XP built in IR handler. Its perfect for my needs! Yes Midi works fine! but funny thing is I got a zip file with 150 polyphonic ringing signals but the phone wont accept them:(.. The format is *.mmf if i remember correctly.. they where quite small.. when i tried to rename them to *.mid it uploaded but wouldent work:(.. So my question is can t300 ONLY play MIDI or where there something wrong with the files? cause when i downloaded the built in "polyphonic" ringing signals they also where MIDI.. Whats up with that?

Polyphonic ringtones are MIDI (*.mid). I have no idea what *.mmf is. But whatever it is, it's not Polyphonic ringtones beacuse thay are in MIDI format.
Could you listen to them (the *.mmf) on your computer ?

.mmf files are used by for example Nokia and Samsung

Look what I found on the web...
----------
SMAF/Phrase is a format used for playing sound from Java application. Although SMAF/Phrase is a sub set to SMAF specification, it is different from SMAF for MA-2 and SMAF for MA-3 used by ringing melodies. SMAF/Phase is not compatible with SMAF of MA-2/MA-3. On a MA-3 implemented mobile device, it is possible to play (4) 4-channel Phrase sequence data and (1) SMAF/Audio data at one time. At this point, SMAF/Phrase is required to implement into Java contents. SMAF/Phrase can be utilized only when your mobile device is MA-3 implemented, supports Java functions, and has tools that are opened in public for creating Java application.

Apparently this SMAF sound has *.mmf extension...maybe ? Does anyone else know better than me ?!

As far as cutting down the size of midi files, that program is file but really is not that great.
I have to make covers of popular songs for college in midi, and so i am using power full professional software, which isnt cheap, and i am going to put my finished work on my t300, it should sound good
