As I've seen it on CNN 3 days ago . . . there are some rumors going around that the 7-time F1 World Champion, Michael Schumacher is about to resign . . . The race tomorrow - Sunday at Monza, Italy will be a day to watch for . . . for F1 fans! Schumy's contract with Ferrari will expire this year so goes with Alonso's with Renault-Williams . . . it's been said that if Schumy will finally call it quits, Kimi Raikkonen 'might' just take his place with the Ferrari Team. Lets' just wait for the verdict tomorrow - Sunday!

i think he will drive for one more year

I hope so too ! After been watching those F1 races for years . . . I just made notice that the 'make' of the car matters MOST, the driver on it just plays - second! Look at the case of Felipe Massa, not long ago before he transferred to Ferrari he got NO (or not much) Title to his credits . . . but after he starts driving the Ferrari car . . . he's making points ! I think he even place - 1st in one of the recent races

F1 is boring nowadays.Only during the days of the Schumacher-Hakkinen rivalry i found it great.

@deep - Oh yeah that's true ! However, I find the race moooore interesting 'everytime' someone beats Schumy in the race . . . just like this year . . . the top 1-2 finishers (over-all standing) has just been separated by a 12 point

But then again you have to look at the F1 rules. They have changed them all because Ferrari were simply TO GOOD.
They shouldnt change the rules because of that, Ferrari have worked extremely hard to get a strangle hold on the F1 series, now they take it away from them
i still say schui will stay another year or 2....

I think today its less racing and more of other things like pit stops,tyres,engines etc.Most races are won today not because of a classic overtaking maneuver to take the pole,but because of a well timed pitstop,engine failures of rivals,better tyre conditions and things like that.
The only 'rivalry' i see today in F1 is between the two tyre mfg's Bridgestone and Michelin,the drivers seem to care more about money than winning races-best example is Alonso-leaving the no.1 team Renault for an under performing Mclaren.

@ads - Oh yeah . . . and I just forgot all about the 'new' rules implemented this year . . . with that, Ferrari garnered 'less' top finishes . . . it favored - Renault

The final decision from Michael is unknown, but I do have a feeling he might stay on for just one more year...
It will officially be announced that Kimi Raikkonen will leave McLaren for Ferrari according to his manager, Flavio Briatore...
As a McLaren fan, I look forweard to the prospect of Alonso, but I think Raikkonen is making amistake in leaving... Also, even though everyone has has been impressed with de laRosa's performances, they might try and replace him to...

both Renault drivers have left, interesting to see how they (renault) go next season

@se - When will Kimi be leaving McLaren mate? If by next year, and Schumy will be leaving Ferrari in a year or two . . . there will be 3 drivers at Ferrari then
Posted by >500
they are gettting rid of massa
Posted by *Jojo*
Whaaaaaaaat . . . but Felipe has just been with Ferrari for months now

I wouldn't be too sure about that, if Michael does resign, they've got Raikkonen, but everybody else in the field is taken, so it is unlikely Ferrari will sign anybody else..
If he resigns, then the team is likely to be Raikkonen and Massa...

@se - Now, that's more clear mate . . . I'm not that certain though but did Schumy started his F1 career with the Renault Team back then
Posted by SE Rules
No, Schumy started with Jordan-Ford back in the day, then switched to Benetton-Ford in 1991, then his rise to fame slowly increased from there..

@se - OK . . . unfortunately FORD is no longer with F1

and in other news,alonso's engine blown spectacularly after quite a while,so michael closes the championship lead to 2 points .
shame on fia to penalise alonso,they are indeed fiarrai.

As a McLaren fan, I'm very sad to hear of Kimi leaving, but I feel that Alonso has still got one of the best chances to win the chamionship next season, considering the improvements McLaren have made in the last few races...
Also, although I've never been a huge fan of Michael Schumacher, you have got to admie what he's done, he truly is one of, if the not the greatest driver ever. I feel that the timing of his annoucement was very well timed, and during his personal announcement in the post-race conference, he showed genuine emotion, and felt he could drawn a tear at any point.
Altogether, whatever your opinion of him, we must thank him for providing us with some of the greatest displays of motoracing ever seen, and for everything he has brought to the sport.
So thank you Michael, and we wish you the best for the future.

So, the rumors were TRUE after all
So, who will replace Kimi at McLaren then?
I just hope that Schumy will win this year's over-all points garnered award (Driver of 2006)! That will be a NICE . . . exit !
I also just made notice the Ferrari's 'major' sponsor - Marlboro is no longer visible in the technical team's outfit . . . so goes with it's stickers on the car itself- Marlboro Logo

@jojo
Alonso is replaving Kimi at McLaren, it's now up to McLaren to announce before the end of the season who gets the second driver's seat. It could be de la Rosa, Paffet, or even Hamilton? You never know that they might make a suprise jump for Button, but thats just in my fantasy world I guess! lol
