Out of stock: Memory Stick Micro!

Just recently got my hands on a K800i and I'm on the look out for a 1GB Memory Stick Micro. Easier said than done though as nearly everywhere is out of stock!

Mobymemory
Expansys
Misco
etc etc

All out of stock. Does anyone know anywhere online where I can get one asap?

Posted by spikeyjac
ebay is gd but i fink it iis expensive the last tym i luke dos i dunno bout now tho?

Posted by BobaFett
@xpander check here the accs for sale forum, might be u find an offer or ask for it in the accs wanted. good luck

Posted by xpander
I dunno about eBay though. I've heard/read countless stories of how the majority of sellers on there sell fake memory sticks etc.

Posted by CaRMaN
Check ouit my thread here. Although as i siad CPW is rapidly loosing stock.

Posted by xpander
@CaRMaN

I just spotted your post and had a look at CPW online. Out of stock. And the earliest I will be able to pop into a shop will be the weekend! Drats!

Posted by BobaFett
if this m2 misery is a worldwide problem, it could effect se really bad imo why didnt they produced more m2?

Posted by spikeyjac
i dont think u can get fake m2's yet?

Posted by xpander
Well I've been through all the shops listed on Froogle and Kelkoo - not one merchant has them for sale! Dreadful case of supply not meeting demand this is!

I just sold my last 2

have you tried the e-shop on the official s.e web site?

Posted by Euromancer
I have been looking for M2 cards as well, got mine online. They are selling for 39.95 + 5.00 p&p so I got two. Most phone shops do not have them in stock and are selling from 50.00 to 70.00. Amazon still does not have them in stock as of a few days ago. On eBay they are selling for around 45-50 + p&p of anything up to 10. Best two online retailers I could find are

http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/10442.htm
and
http://www.mobymemory.com/Micro-M2.asp

They are now both out of stock now however.

Can only think Sony is holding onto stock to inflate the price, since there is a "worldwide shortage".

Just looked on there. 44.99 with P&P at 3.50. No indication that they are in stock though, so I'll try and find a number for them and call them in the morning to check.

ive got a 512mb for 30 if anyones interested

Posted by Rookwise
Try Picstop or Online Memory. Usually quite cheap from there as well. There's 10 M2 512mb cards on the rack at CPW in Stafford.

Rubbish. I visited P4U, CPW, T-Mobile highstreet stores today, all had them in stock, and price ranged from 40-60

try emartbuy.co.uk they have 512mb in stock, 1gb due in 5 days

Posted by altemyr
It seems to be a problem here in Sweden as well. Unless you are willing to pay way too much for the 1GB M2, most of the vendors are out of stock, or contantly specify the next delivery date one or two weeks ahead, and then moving the delivery date further forward when that date comes close. Should it really be so difficult for Sony to deliver these memory sticks? Or is it just a trick in order to keep the price level at that ridiculously high level as it is. As a comparison, I bought a 512 MB SD Micro/Transflash for my Motorola for about 220 SEK, while I payed nearly 400 SEK for the 512 MB M2 for my K800.

BTW, it's only the 1GB Ms that's out of stock, it's easy to find a 512MB M2, but I don't like the idea of having two M2's and swapping them at need, even though hot-swapping is possible.

these things arent even available in Australia yet, well retail stores anyway.
Only the little import stores who get from hk, still hard to find.
Ebay is probably your best bet, and i dont think there are fake ones available yet...

I contacted Sony Ericsson this morning the minute their lines opened and was told that they only had 3 1GB Memory Stick Micros left in stock. Thing is, the person I was speaking to put me on hold to ensure that I had one of the remaining few, and when he came back he told me that I'd be 'allocated one' when stock arrives and should receive it in the next 3-4 days. Hmm...

Slightly confused if they've got any or not now! Guess I'll find out by the end of this week. This is all a bit of a farce isn't it?

Rubish to you too!!!

I am in Essex UK (Lakeside) area, I went to CPW, not in stock was told they are 59.99. CPW do not even list em on their website. Next stop was Mapplins, don't do em. PC World do not do them, Curry's do not do them, never heard of them. The Link do not have them and have no idea when. Virgin shop had 512mb for 39.99 and 1gig 69.99. Orange shop didn't have them on the shelf, nor an empty peg where they are out. Salesman said try Amazon (who do not list em). Vodaphone, not in no idea when they are getting them next. Went to all the other major phone shops not got any or are 55+ (which I thought was way over priced) and the last place I thought I would get one was the "Sony Centre" shop, which again didn't have them and had no idea when they were next getting, again 50-55 range.

So its not rubbish, it's the price they are selling for in my area. Personally I think 45 is reasonable for a 1gig card. W2W have a Scandisk M2 1gig card listed for 29.99 but not on sale until end of September.

Well, I guess we have just had different experiences.

As I stated in my first post, I visited P4U, CPW, T-Mobile and they all had them in stock selling for 40-60. Yes, 60 may be a bit on the steep side, but thats an inevitable by-product of demmand exceeding suply. I am not surprised that PC World/Maplins/Currys don't do them, the M2 card is only used in phones [as far as I know?] so far, so they're unlikely to stock them, at least initially.

And your point about CPW not even showing them on the website is again, rubbish....

...admittedly, it is now out of stock, but it definitely wasn't yesterday...and to be honest what do you expect when its 30% off.

CPW

Ak fair play I did look in the memory cards section and they are not there but are in the Special Offers section which I didn't look in. Still very weird not to have them in the memory card section of the site.

Posted by altemyr
Just for curiosity: What's the price for a 1GM SD Micro/Transflash on that site? My guess is about 60% of the price of a M2. I don't understand why there has to be such a difference.

WHERE???????????

It does not list the M2 card on the memory card page, It only lists on the specials page OR after you have clicked View all memory cards and data products. Which lets be honest if you are only scanning the page to see a price on the M2 card you can quite easily miss the "View all memory cards and data products", I know I did.

That is good. Average cost (where you can actually find them) is at least 0540 upwards. Just a shame everywhere is out of stock though.

My local O2 shop in Hanley, Stoke On Trent has a few 1Gb M2 cards in stock. They're not on the store shelves. Only one on the shelves are 512mb ones. Asked the very helpful chap behind the counter and he went in the back and bought 5 out. Only had enough for one though otherwise I'd have bought the lot

1GB M2's from the O2 store are 59.99

Cant believe how small they are compaired to my K750's 1GB MSDP

Finally, after long wait, the M2 1Gb is back in stock. I bought mine today, and now I have replaced my old 512 MB card.

I bought mine at a "Telia" shop here in Stockholm, and the price was not too high either, 649 SEK (89 US$ / 70 euro), even though it's way higher than for a 1GB SD or CF card.

As discussed previously, 1GB is not 1024 MB available, see picture below:
