well i dont think they are....but then again everyone has their different opinion but it is one of the best nokia phones i've liked in a very long while, i also have the samsung D900 and have to say the camera quality of that compared to the n73 is terrible! the n73 walks all over it for quality on photo's taken
Posted by jj03
Very true. the images captured from the camera are superb.

Nokia cams are very good, i just missed the af in their 2mp cams

hello all;
I'm a k750i user for apprx. 5 months (which I'm very very satisfied). I've used a 6630 for a year before. now what I want is a gadget for internet browsing. over wifi and gsm-edge. I've torn between s60 and pocket pc, in terms of internet browsing. reading tons of reviews between pocket pc and s60. I chosed s60 browser (comparison was on basis of internet browsing)now with wifi and s60. I have n80 and e70 for selection for the sake of controversy, I opt for n80. I've read several reviews and user comments which are somewhat a mixed bag. Several users claiming the best handset forever and with the latest firmware on board, lots of them saying the device isn't usable at all. now I know s60 is a capable os and n80 is a capable gem. my question for you, is the capabilities of n80 regarding to internet browsing both over gsm-edge and wifi is good? should I use it as a web browser, or look for pocket pc. (at least with better battery) note: I would be probably buying a seperate battery also.

N80 is ok for browsing, but the batt is very weak,so u ll need a spare one if it is

i had a n80 when they were first launched..and the battery life was weak..however, the new firmwares have really helped...
with regards to the browser, (html) i loved it....very capable.
Posted by BobaFett
there was once a rumour to launch a more powerful batt for n80, any news about it?

Just a couple of quick questions about the N73, i've read the whole thread and can't find what i'm looking:
Is there anyway i can make the wallpapers fill the screen?
Is there anyway i can make contact pictures appear bigger when the person rings?
Whats the blue flashing light for in the light sensor?
Thanks in advance!

there is a full image app at video calls on getjar.com

I just noticed, when choosing the alarm tones, only the preinstalled ones show up and not the MP3s i have on the memory card. Any idea how to have a custom alarm tone?
Posted by Dogmann
@QVGA
I assume you mean on your N71 as on the N73 and now N93 i have various alarms all set with MP3's from my memory card. So i would imagine it's the same, all my music shows after the installed alarm sounds.
Marc
Posted by BobaFett
indeed, if u copy or move some mp3 from the card in the fone, u ll be able to do it
Posted by BobaFett
did u see this?
http://www.nokiaforbusiness.com/emea/home.html
Posted by QVGA
But i cant copy MP3's into the phone as it only has 2MB space and thats the max i can get out of it.
Also, in the tones list, only 2 out of all my MP3's show. Is there a different folder u have to put them in to show in the ringtones folder.
Posted by BobaFett
U could try to manage it with file manager, cos ringtones are shown only in the profiles

Simply put the MP3's into the "sound clips" folder on the memory card...
*tada*
Posted by BobaFett
actually, why are teh ringtones are shown only in the profiles?

Hi all,
Yesterday I downloaded and installed the Nokia Podcasting app and must say it is very good and would say it is easy to setup and download both audio and video podcast. So far i have downloaded The Ricky Gervais Podcast's and the quality is excellent plus they really are funny. The range of Podcasts available is growing all the time and there is plenty to choose from with a good search engine incorporated to find what you are looking for.

is n95 the only upcoming symbian or will there be some others as well? any news on this?
Posted by Dogmann
@Boba,
There are quite a few phones coming N93i a slimmer version of the N93 also a E61i plus a few others i can't remember just now but Nokia seem to announce their new phones with quite a short period before they become available. But personally i have no intention of upgrading anytime soon as it is going to take something very special to gain my interest and more mega pixels or built in GPS just isn't going to do it. The latest firmware update for me has given a huge increase in speed and resolved most of the little annoyances it may not be perfect but it's pretty close.

Don't forget the Nokia 6290 & the long um, waiting to be released N75. Both are flip phones 6290 has A2DP & European 3G while the N75 doesnt have A2DP but with North American 3G.

E62 maybe? I read about that rumour

Hi all,
I think within the first quarter of 2007 we will see a new communicator announced from Nokia that will be truly amazing running S60 3rd Edition FP1 and a quality Camera with at least the spec of the N93 in processor and graphics chip and hopefully a lot of Ram.
Marc

i saw once a rumoured communicator on a site, but it looked more like the psion palms
Posted by fatreg
i dont want S60 on a communicator..
S80 is wicked.. i love my 9300i....
a new one is welcome though

Posted by BobaFett
i had 9300, but i didnt like that it didnt communicate with the symbians
Posted by Dogmann
@Fatreg
Trust me the outside screen will be 320 x240 running the same view of apps as inside and that resolution will be well just the best so far, and S60 3rd Edition is now so quick and it will be the same on this device.
Also there are already so many apps available for this OS and of course it will FP1. This is possibly the only thing that may tempt away from my N93 but it will be business focused where as N93 is MultiMedia focused with business capabilities.

I dope every new symbians will have high res screen

Just remember the next wave of S60 phones - after N95 will have a resolution of VGA standard, as that 266x488 or whatever that res is on the E70/N80 models is gone!
Dont worry we'll see something spectacular soon.

Can the e60,n80 screen yet more clear and sharp?

How long time does it take to flash the n73? I will get mine on friday and if it hasn't got the latest fm, I will flash it right away :)

It takes like less then 10 minutes to flash the phone with the live update thingy from nokia. Its pretty good although i'm not sure if the latest firmware is out for branded phones.

weird. in 6233 the gmail app takes less data amount as in n73

n73 users, is your n73 also so squizy like the one i tested? when i push the fone on both sides, it gives that disgusting plastic noise... joy seems ok, but the whole fone feels way too plastic... even 6233 is better made than that.

Ye mines squeks as well.
The joystick is the thing I hate bout the phone it only moves in 4 direction but the feel is just not there esp when its sensitive somedays then hard the next...
The back covers a bit solid..
Posted by BobaFett
why no go-to feature in it? i got used to it in 6680

I've got a dilemma.to buy or not nokia n73.
I'm afraid I've never heard anything good about the phone.
Maybe,someone can help me.

Well if you havenīt heard anything good about the phone- where have you been? There are a lot of opinions about this phone. And iīd say that the most of them are positive. There are negative opinions about it that are based on taste and preferense, but these opinions can be discarded- you have to decide what is important for you and what you want in an phone.
There have been complaints about that the phone is sluggish but that has been resolved now with latest firmware. There are problems with the joystick(falls off) on some phones. Some complain about squekyness in the chassi. And there are complaints about "the" purple fog" in pictures taken in poor lightning. I haventīnoticed any "puple fog" though. I think that is a problem that also gets fixed in the latest firmware.
And which phone doesnīt have faults and problems in the early stage of itīs product cycle? The manufactures feel pressed to release new models and let us the consumers do the final testing. That sucks but that is how it is.
I can strongly recommend the N73 or the N73ME! I have reflashed my N73 to a N73ME and you get a much stronger/better sound in the musicplayer if you do so. You might void the warranty if you do this manuver, but for me it was worth the risk since a good music player is essential to me. (It actually sounds better than my SEW800i!)
The camera is in my humble oppinion just as good as the K800i camera(yes even if the K800i has a real flash. But if you want to take a picture i poor lightning and the motive is furhter away then 2 meters then the N73 is better)
About the squeeky sound- a suggestion: Canīt you apply some lubricant? Spray on or in another fashion?

to be honest i didnt recognized any bugs in the fw at usage, but imo its not that fast, as n70 or 6680, but still accepteable. my problem was the cracky housinf and the weird keypad. battery life is very good.
Posted by Idea
To me the n73 was lightning fast in comparison to the 3250 (both symbian 9.1). But then again it still lacked the speed of a e61 in phone operations. I know i am comparing three totally different types of phones but all based on the latest symbian. But hope this puts the speed of the phone in a little more perspective.
