Hi Boba,
I have sent bug the proper restore factory settings code, It most certainly isn't a fw bug i have being adding and deleting Pdf to try and replicate no problem and i can't crash it.
I have said all of this in a pm to Bug but i sort of think it may be a good idea to state it here. Now this is merely my opinion and the way i see things.
Up until now we have been able to customise our smartphones and add apps at will and whilst running different variants of Symbian were blessed by an OS that required very little Ram to run effectively. Now with the new UIQ 3 and S60 3rd Edition we have much faster processors more Ram, bigger colour screens 3D graphics chips, full HTML browsers, camera and video recording and playback and the OS now requires much more Ram.
On top of this the security features enabled in the OS are causing problems for 3rd party developers and it is a new OS requiring fresh coding.
IMO installing 3rd party software is the cause of a lot of the problems people are seeing, i know you should be able to and that is what a smartphone is about but right now it does not seem possible without causing problems. As has been stated by others why there isn't a decent Task manger to control and shut down apps is unbelievable and why they didn't just increase the Ram does beggar belief IMO.
Admitedly i have only been playing with my N93 for 80hrs odd but so far it has done everything asked. I have set up Home Media Server, Wlan, browsed over 3G, sent and received mail, watched films and viewed pictures and even had a few phone calls. Not one crash freeze or low memory warning. The only 3rd party app i have installed is Autolock everything else is stored on the memory card plus through a trick i have learnt i close all running apps with 4 clicks. This i believe does actually make a difference to how it all runs and to be honest there really is nothing more i feel i need to add.

i mean in the fone, when u took a pic, store it and u wanna zoom. in n80 i noticed, that after 100% the message was shown "memeory full, close applications" or sg like that.

Need sum help with my N80 ppl, i recently got a 2gb mini sd and put a load of songs on it and now iv noticed that when using the headphones its not very loud, any idea how to sort this out?
Posted by BobaFett
6680, n70, n71, n90 wasnt really loud, those arent the best to listen to music imo
Posted by p900 lover
i know, i mean its not too bad but oh well
oh and 1 more thing, can i create a folder in the "gallery" so i can have all the pics ppl have sent me separate from the pics iv taken. i know i can create a album but all the pics are still in the gallery
Posted by BobaFett
u can create an album, the pix will be always shon in the gallery 1 by 1, u have to go the albums dorectly to see those separated. i hated that aswell, 6680 had a far better gallery feature

Hey all. Dogmann, your remove memory card trick: do you actually have to remove the memory card or does it just shut the apps but still realise there is a card inserted?
Also the autolock app. I take it there is no auto keylock as in
. If so will this app work on the N80 and where can I get it from.
Cheers

Why dont have the symbians autolock?

Hi Coxy,
no you leave the card in just trick the system into closing all running apps. If you don't want an auto keylock function. Just hit the top button above the call button and star quickly then the same to unlock.

Ah ok I see. No I do want an autokeylock thats why I asked!
Posted by bugsiiy
@BobaFett symbians are missing quite a lot of usefull features like, integrated Countdown timer and StopWatch which are very easy to make.

I'd like to recommend Handy Clock to N series users. It has a stopwatch, timers, reccuring alarm and an autokeylock amongst other things.
@bobafett the N80 zooming bug is fixed now in the v.4 firmware

Hi,
Just ordered my n73 (delivered today/tomorrow), does anyone know if it includes a memory card? And if it doesnt which is the best / cheapest to buy?
Thanks.
Posted by bugsiiy
it will probably come with a 128 miniSD or with none.I bought for my n93 a 2gb miniSD for 88 euros
Posted by shug
@BobaFett- There is a 3rd edition version. I have it on my N80.

@shug tack

Hey. Does anyone have a link to the autokeylock download? I just got my N80 today and cant find it. Also the *#0000* trick doesnt work? What else do you do? Pressing green only makes it call it.
Posted by BobaFett

Found out why it wouldnt work Boba!
Posted by BobaFett
try this *#92702689# it shows the total call time in symbians, in other nokia fones the service menu pop up
master reset *#7370#
Posted by bugsiiy
there is aslo *#7780# for master reset
or
when the phone is off there is 3+*+Green Button+Turn On to fully format your device
Posted by BobaFett
how u mean off? in offline mode?
Posted by bugsiiy
not offline mode, just the phone being turned off,or what boba, what's turn off in a mobile phone, huh?
Posted by Coxy
When the fone is atually off. How do you switch from offline to online mode on N80? Mine is stuck in offline mode since I used the data cable! lol
Posted by BobaFett
@coxy just push the on/off button short, there u can choose the general mode
Posted by Coxy
Cheers boba, just like a profile then!
Cheers
Posted by Dogmann
Hi the other reason for offline mode is so you can hot swap sims without the need to reboot the phone with a N93 usefull if you use more than one sim.

Totally flumped with HandyClock and the autokeylock feature. Cant seem to find "calendar" as an option for the screensaver, I only get pics from the gallery. Any ideas?
Ta
edit: right worked it out. I think it is based on the powersave feature isnt it? Anyway to reduce this from 1 minute which seems to be the minimum?
Cheers

Posted by BobaFett
@coxy u got latest fw?
Posted by Coxy
@bugsiiy, yeah got it today. I like it so far gotta get the hang of the OS never had a symbian Nok before. Also trying to understand the gallery compared to the file manager on
s with folders for pics and all.
@Boba no i dont and cant update! Experiencing signal problems!
Posted by BobaFett
did u noticed the zoom bug when u make a pic, save it, later u start to zoom on it, but at 200% it says "mem full, close app ) and boommm u are in the main menu.
Posted by Coxy
No havent had that prob boba. But after doing as you said I then went on to go back and delete the pic, this caused a restart. Anyone know where I can get an original black battery cover? mine seems loose. Also does anyone know if a mobymemory 2gb minisd will deffo work?

With the pop-port on the N80 do you simply pull out the headset or do you move it in any way?
Posted by bugsiiy
@Coxy i don't know,on my n93 i just pull it,if you look closely you will see that both the end of the cable and the port in the phone, both are made from metal so they must be solid (not like SE).just look and see if there's a way to pull it,after all we are smart beings
Posted by Coxy
I think its just pull, but even so my manual is norweigen so no chance of looking in there! lol
Posted by BobaFett
U can download the manual from nokia web
