imo there is no logic behind the decision how to call what fone. n72 isnt a big deal, some will go for it, but not that much interest imo. rather for n73.

I guess the N line stands for multimedia top notch phones by nokia. There are business phones and music phones that arent “N“, but all “N“ phones are somehow multimedia and offer one or another (even all hehehe) high tech features. No wonder they are calling the new N phones “multimedia computers“. They are advanced media phones and the new codename is also part of their design. Nokia developed that line to pretty much set new standarts in the market with quality phones ahead of their competitors in terms of media and offering other techs that are important or attractive to mob users and of course also advanced. The line consists of mid to high end phones and its also used to test new techs in the market.
Imo its the best mobile line out there.

indeed, nokia is miles ahead any other brand in biz line. my favourite is still 6680, do like that design.

There's so many WiFi enables sets from Nokia. You can try N73.

Posted by lemmy31
your right about the n93 and n80 having wifi but the n91 has it also:)
Posted by QVGA
Are WLAN and WiFi the same things?
Posted by Prom1
YES!
WLAN = WiFi; WiFi is its official name. However, your cellular provider will call themselves WLAN as well adding to confusion. They are more like WWLAN on your cellular GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA.
N73 does NOT have WLAN/WIFI period! Check on gsmarena.com for the specs or on Nokia's site. How many times must this be stated.
Posted by QVGA
I was just asking whether they're the same things or not. My saying that N73 has WiFi was a mistake on my part. Sorry for that.
Posted by Prom1
@QVGA; dude no worries it wasnt meant directly to you. You're not the only one thats been posting the N73 has WiFi (it doesnt just in case some1 else decides to post confusion). We all make mistakes. lets just hope that nokia doesnt make one with the N95 and comes with a better capacity battery. (I'm still not convinced).

Hi all,
Having owned an N73 and now owning a N93 i really wish people would get over this slow UI on S60 3rd Edition as this is just not the reality. Yes the N73 has had a few problems not enabling 3D sound effect resolves a lot of them. As for the N93 my only gripe is they announced an update beginning of September for release soon and it still is not available although it would be nice I am in no way desperate for it. I fail to understand this obsession with WiFi as at least here in the UK with T-Mobile i can use as much web and e-mail as i want for £7.50 pm. Switching to Wlan means adding WEP keys every time and is a complete pain in comparison to just carrying on over 3G. The only thing i would say about any new phones and there specs More Ram is not an option it is a necessity otherwise true multi tasking is destined to history IMO.

seems n80 could the only possibly wlan for me, but i do hate that battery... i do like e50, but miss 3g. any rumour of a coming fone, e50 size but with umts and wlan support?
Posted by Dogmann
Hi Boba,
If you want the latest spec you never end up getting anything for what you want i would get one of the new Internet Edition N80's as most problems are resolved and just get a spare battery. If you like S60 3rd Edition and the apps that re becomeing avaliable it is now stable enough to use if a little battery hungry and one of the best screens around and the N80 isn't large either.

another question: what the latest fw version of e61? tia
Posted by shug
The N80 battery isn't that bad (or maybe you just get used to it). Most smartphones use a lot of power and as long as it gets me through a day with heavy usage that's ok. Nokia have improved the standby time with new firmware since the n80 got its bad rep. I can only say this is by far the best phone I've ever owned and for the first time in 4 years I'm not sitting waiting for a new firmware to be released. It works!

i decided to give a try for n80. whats the latest fw of it?

N80 has the same screen size as N71?
Posted by pow1990
nope smaller but better
Posted by QVGA
Another thing thats bothering me is that if I do get a bigger battery for my N71, will it be able to even use it? The current battery has the back part of the cover stuck to it, the new battery wont be likt that. so what to do?
Posted by BobaFett
aha, just got go-to :-) @qvga not sure that bl6c batt would fit n71, e50 fitted it either, however nokia offered it on their website,it just ruins the batt cover.

The signal bars are always full.
My screen brightness is at 75%. When the keypad lights get activated, the brightness is less, and when its not on, the brightness is a lot. Is that normal?

Hi and gooood afternoon/night!
I have a, off course urgent, question that i originally wrote to a N73 owner here at esato but i need/would like a quick answer... if possible.
So here it goes:
I am in the situation where i“m thinking about getting a N73 or a K800. N73 has more "candy" and stuff that really appeals to me (pity that N73 seems to lack support for bluetooth stereo headset).
My question is: Is the camera as good as the K800? I“ve been looking at photos on internet that has been taken with K800 and N73. I“d say that they are equal...they actually look different- the N73 gives sharper pictures but has almost to strong colours- the K800 showes smoother pictures but lacks colour somewhat. BUT one of the photos i saw shows a really bad pic from the N73. I think the pic is here
http://www.gsmarena.com/n73_d900_k800_photo-review-102p2.php
The pic is on a blue/purple flower and the N73 pic i s awfull. Is there a problem with taking close up photos with N73? Or does it only have problems with the colours blue/purple colours? Is it possible to change settings regarding the fullness/richness of colours when taking photos?
I would be most thankfull for your reply on this matter.
Posted by QVGA
I think its because N73 generally "pumps" up the colors of the pics taken.
Generally speaking, K800 has a much better camera. But that, by no means says N73 doesnt. It just a little worse. It takes bad night pics. If camera is important, get the K800. N73 beats K800 in everything else.

I believe the N-Gage QD's battery will fit & work if so then you've got the BEST longest lasting battery Nokia ever made.

> I agree about more RAM! We thought that the 6620 was king of multitasking and from what I've read here & on other threads it STILL is. However, if Nokia stats 40MB of RAM ALL of it after startup should be available. I'm worried that the N95 may have this achilles' heel.
> WiFi WEP keys can be saved in the N80/E61/E70 N93 so that the NEXT time you connect to the SAME AP you wouldnt need to enter it again. Its the same way with laptops so this part of your statement is mute. I dont know how available WiFi AP (Access Points) are in your city but in mine across the pond its bountiful. Most are NOT encrypted and are free. And our Canadian law states that if someone doesnt encrypt their AP then it is no crime to use it (not entirely as you see fit; if you're doing hacking to a government db or network- its a crime).
NOTE: WiFi usuage will considerably wear out your N80 battery. I have YET to see anyone post evidence that WiFi over 2-2.5hr+ on a full battery. I surf A LOT on my home computer, and did more so when I had my 6620. If I get a phone with WiFi I'd surf mostly on it.
Its all about demographics. For GPRS/EDGE currently in Canada we dont have TRUE unlimited data (we're capped at 100MB, 200MB for BlackBerries) and charged more for overages, even cut off if it happens as a trend. So, as you can see WiFi has a great significance for me and others here in major cities across Canada UNTIL our providers follow suit with affordable decent data (btw cost is currently $100CAN = 100MB, $100CAN = 200MB on BB's only).

Now you see the light!
Most ppl thought I shouldnt be concerned over the N95 > which has MORE internal features to use & a larger screen, when the N80 cannot hold its own.
Posted by BobaFett
the fone itself with all the features is amazing, but that damn batt ruins the fun of it!
