the question was for all of u 75% huh? doesnt it drain your batt way too fast? i used it til now on 25%, now i give a try for 40%, but imo i ll get the same result, or almost the same.

shove the bl-6c in the e50 and leave the brightness at 100%

in general i like 75% for s60.. but some phones like the n80 need it at 100%

Posted by BobaFett
i used bl 6c, but didnt noticed better batt performance to tell the truth. next to it, that damn high cap batt can brake the housing ( i mean the plastic apart, above the batt connectors ).

Posted by QVGA
Well, my battery lasts 2 days in normal usage, nothing heavy.

Posted by BobaFett
@qvga u got n80, right?

well, my one ( e50 ) last 2 days at really heavy usage. not bad actually.

Posted by QVGA
N71.

Posted by BobaFett
ah, ok. well, at n71 2 days are very good then, with that brightness level. how is it behave at video calls?

Posted by QVGA
Havnt really tried video calls yet. Not yet available in my locale.

Posted by BobaFett
sdid u turn the dual mode off?

Posted by QVGA
Dual mode? How to turn it off?

Posted by BobaFett
at the network settings. if u dont use umts, set it on gsm only

Posted by QVGA
Will this effect the battery time?

Posted by BobaFett
afaik yes, cos when 3g is turned on the fone constanly serch for umts access

I have two queries:

1- In SE phones, we can put our phone in the "accept no calls" mode, in which the caller would get the busy tone. Any similar feature in Nokia?

2- Do you guys experience the screen flicker when writing SMS, and going to the next line?

Posted by BobaFett
i noticed the flickers aswell in many different symbians, got used to it. imo its a os bug

Posted by QVGA
Thanx.
What about the accept no calls mode?

Posted by BobaFett
to be honest, i never used that feature, i checked it now, but didnt find the solution, but there should be one. maybe with the groups

Posted by BobaFett
i do like the feature to play any mp3 in the background when i make a call. right now star wars is on and browse here. btw whats the difference between aac and mp3?

AAC is much cleaner & clearer for lower bitrates than MP3.

AAC's improvements over MP3

Some of its advances:

* Sample frequencies from 8 kHz to 96 kHz (official MP3: 16 kHz to 48 kHz)
* Up to 48 channels
* Higher efficiency and simpler filterbank (hybrid → pure MDCT)
* Higher coding efficiency for stationary signals (blocksize: 576 → 1024 samples)
* Higher coding efficiency for transient signals (blocksize: 192 → 128 samples)
* Can use Kaiser-Bessel derived window function to eliminate spectral leakage at the expense of widening the main lobe
* Much better handling of frequencies above 16 kHz
* More flexible joint stereo (separate for every scale band)

The result is a specification that allows developers more flexibility to design codecs that offer efficient compression compared to MP3. However, the advantages are not entirely decisive, and the MP3 specification, while outdated, has proven surprisingly robust. Although AAC and HE-AAC are far better than MP3 at very low bitrates, at medium to higher bitrates the two formats are more comparable. In the future as developers learn to better exploit the AAC format, AAC is expected to gain additional ground and perhaps overtake MP3.

AAC ISO standard

AAC, which was first specified in the standard known formally as ISO/IEC 13818-7, was published in 1997 as a new "part" (distinct from ISO/IEC 13818-3) in the MPEG-2 family of international standards.

thx! the music manager converts mp3 to aac in the pc suite as i noticed. shall i keep it mp3 format or aac is better? what are u using?

Posted by QVGA
I use MP3, never really needed to convert, Mp3 sounds perfect and space isnt an issue.

Posted by Prom1
I use both. But my newer music is going to AAC for quality reasons. I dont encode Audio at anything lower than 160Kbps unless its memory card space issue or if I got it this way. I know my computer will crash soon and I dont have DVD burner so on CD AAC is more efficient & keeps quality.

When I get my Mac Pro I'll have more experience extracting audio from a video source. Furthermore editing two audio types isnt the best idea.

is there an app to convert mpeg to view in the fone?

This message was posted from a E50-1

Posted by QVGA
xilisoft 3GP converter can convert to various formats.

Posted by BobaFett
thx. is there any i can install in the fone? i do like the built in "zip" app, i just in put any zipped file and the fone extract it on its own. very useful

Posted by QVGA
Does anyone know how i can use my PC internet on my phone via bluetooth?

Posted by pow1990
not too sure qvga
quik question
how do i get rid of the o2 startup screen on the n80?

Posted by bugsiiy
@BobaFett does it only work for .zip or with .rar also?

@QVGA as far as i know you can't,only through WLAN (if you have N93)

@pow1990 maybe a reflash?

Posted by BobaFett
cant u turn it off at the fone settings?

This message was posted from a E50-1

can any1 tell me if the wi-fi on N80 is well implemented?
thx!

Posted by BobaFett
@pow cant u unbrand it? i know u loose then warranty

This message was posted from a E50-1

Posted by pow1990
how ?

Posted by shug
@SloopJohnB
Yes- I can't think of anything negative to say about it.

Posted by BobaFett
@pow o2 gives u warranty, if the fone hasnt been flashed with a non o2 fw. every change or modifing will make warranty unvalid

Plus O2 do very little to a phone anyway, just start up screen and screen saver.

Marc

Posted by etaab
My N93 is completely unbranded, even though it came on an O2 contract..

Posted by SloopJohnB
Well, sorry for the silly question but... does the wi-fi on N80 work like a regular wi-fi on a notebook, meaning, internet for free (no charge from operators)?
thx

Posted by Prom1
N80 does support most protocols for WiFi surfing.

FREE WiFi depends if you can Cyphon off your neighbors WiFi AP or using your own or a business that offers.

> Advantage of S60 is we can DEFINE all connections for Data to use WiFi or GPRS/EDGE/UMTS or in a specific order. Look around the settings but WATCH your battery life on WiFi.

oh,another n70 user :-) how is your one?

One good thing I have to say about the N70 is that its got the best screen in the 176x208 res category.

Posted by BobaFett
does 3250 and n70 got the same screen?

Posted by QVGA
Ummm, not sure. Due to the new symbian, 3250's screen looks really horrible.

Posted by BobaFett
imo its the same like of n70, or at least almost.

Posted by QVGA
Is there any difference b/w the N series and non-N series?

Posted by BobaFett
u mean in case of the screen?

Posted by QVGA
No, in general.

Posted by BobaFett
dont really what and how u mean, imo its the os mainly.

Posted by QVGA
I mean to say is that since they have it named N, it means there's gotta be something special in it, like W for SE.
Cant be the OS since the 3250 also runs the new 3rd edition and N72 doesnt.
