Well the problem with my N91 is that the joystick feels "loose" when softly touched, it works fine when I put pressure on it to actually navigate the menu. It has play in it just before you push it far enough to move the cursor in the menu. Anyone here have advice or experienced the same problem? I'm just wondering if it's just my phone that's like this or others too.
It can't be from over usage as it felt like that from the day I got it, which is only two weeks ago.

do use hard the joy? imo nokia joys arent the best, nokias power is the joypad. e50 one is ugly, but seems well made, but i wish to have 6680 pad instead of it

Hi etaab,
I have had mine 18 days now and know exactly what you mean, IMO this is one awesome phone. I am very pleased with my purchase in fact so pleased I'm not even bothered that the firmware update isn't yet available.

maybe it gets loose with time, in n91 nokia focused more on the outside and some fun features instead of practical things imo. how is the keypad?

well even though the joystick feels loose while not using, it works faultlessly when used. alot more I can say about the k750 I used 2 have.

@ Dogmann - same here, the only thing i really want from the firmware update is possibly to ram boost, once or twice now the phone has closed the app i was running due to low memory, which is annoying since sometimes the app im using is the only app im running. Oh yes, and not being able to zoom into 3mp pictures more than 50% without the gallery closing on its own.
Other than that, ive no real issues with the phone at all, camera quality is top dollar, as is video quality, ive installed a few 3rd edition apps on it already which are a mile ahead of Java apps of old i used on my K750i, and generally pleased with the overall build quality - no creaking and only a small amount of play in the hinge mechanism.
Not bad, to say some sites said their final release up to date firmware review N93 phones crashed more often than not - mines not crashed once yet ! Not even my K750i could have claimed that after a weeks use last year, and that wasnt even as complex as a S60 smartphone.

So now i have another problem with my N93 (not the one with the Adobe PDF). It's becoming very hard to make the computer recognise the phone,i mean i have to connect the cable and while the phone is sitting with the keypad facing me i have to press down on the cable for the pc to recognise it.This is annoying,i thought that connecting a w800 (with a bit used cable and conector) was hard but now with my N93 is even harder.Do you suggest cleaning the conector with something?

Hi Bugsiiy,
To honest i never had this problem but as i didn't like having to take the pop port cover off i have set up syncing over bluetooth instead.
eetab i haven't had any apps closing or ram problems but then i do occasionally use the remove memory card trick to close all running apps and free the ram up. Also i regularly clear the cache and cookies from the web browser and have only installed Autolock and Resco Viewer. Although since i discovered that by holding the 2nd button up on the right hand side of the phone for a short while locks or unlocks the phone have not been using autolock and am still evaluating Resco and haven't decided if i will keep it or not.

This will be fixed with an update. My N80 had the same problem with the 'out of box' firmware but now zooms to 800%.

Of course there is. On my old S60 2nd Ed Nokia 6620 it was either in the messages app OR within that data counter for calls, data, and it included SMS. It may not be there for 3rd Ed & IF so then thats pathetic.
Dude Nokia has been making Joysticks on the S60 platform since day 1 = 7650 has a JOYSTICK! It isnt easy on most ppls thumbs but it works.
CELLTRACK has been compiled for 3RD Edition just yet.

@prow there is no sms counter in the symbians, data and calls counter is offered

In my phone memory details, it shows messages taking 4MB space, where as I dont have anything in my inbox. I really need to free up this space as only 1.8MB free space is left on the phone.

well going on what has been said on these forums, I probably have the two WORST Nokias ever, namely N80 and N91.

Just because N91 is a flop doesnt mean its bad. If I had the money, i'd gotten it for sure. I'd get the N80 if it wasnt for its battery. IMO, in some way, they're also one of the most high-tech phones out there aswell.

@dust a general opinion shouldnt influence u. if both fits your needs, keep it. but 2 symbians to use is a bit pointless for me

well i've had my N80 battery last 3days once, that was with using the camera with video and stills and making a few calls. IMO, it's the gprs usage that eats my batteries the most. on my N91 i can go for 8hours listening to music and maybe 2 bars will b missing from the battery, but the minute I use gprs, the bars start falling.

You should post some live pics of your N91 in the review u posted.

does the n91 fit your pocket?
This message was posted from a E50-1
Posted by *dust*
yeah that's an idea. i'll add the pics later. the N91 does fit in my jeans pocket, no problem. but then again, maybe I've got BIG pockets. lol. when listening to music, while at work, I keep my phone in a BodyGlove pouch on my belt, but the clip makes it a bit big to fit it in my pocket, so over weekends I take it from the pouch so I can slide in my pocket.

i have a "zip" feature in the fone. does that mean, that any kind of zipped file can i get in the fone and it will be unzipped and used after it?

yes

Hi Bugsiiy,
Sorry i thought i gave you a reasonable alternate method, you could always use a cotton bud with an alcohol solution to clean up the contacts and wait long enough for it to dry before trying it for safety reasons. When i was still using the pop port i did find using a downwards angle aided connection this may be your problem but again would suggest switching to bluetooth as even if your computer doesn't have it USB dongles are both quite cheap and useful.

oops. i've just killed my logitech stealth earphones with my N91! i think these earphones are poor quaility, they are loud and clear but just don't last, it's the second set i've had, the first set i had exchanged after they've also stopped working. now I think instead of exchanging them again I'm gonna ask for a refund.

when do u charge your batt? e50 batt alarm pops up, but i can use the fone after it hours long, make calls, browse etc aslong the alarm keeps on, i never know when is it almost empty, so once it just turns off. not sure if that usually drain likes the batt, but i didnt noticed less performance

@Dogmann thanks,that was the anwser i wanted
@eveyone else did you notice that the so called "macro" on N93 is kind of weird,i mean no autofocus(the purpose of macro)! I compared once my N93 with a K800,photgraphing with macro some chewing gum package. The N93 came out pretty good while the K800 was out of focus, the pics were made from the same distance and position. Now here is a curious fact, today (since i don't have a scanner) i wanted to take some pictures of some documents and guess what, using macro (at a distance i say smaller than the maximum 50 cm nokia stated),all the pictures came blurred!(and no,i'm not an idiot,i know how to make pictures). So frustrated i took the documents again and did like this every page i pictured it portrait mode using macro (so actually it was the upper part of the doc in one pic and in the following pic i had the lower part of the doc, thus this way the distance was smaller so it should have been in focus) and after this i took a picture of the whole doc page using AUTO settings . When i put the pics on the PC i was stunned, the half page (from quite close range) macro ones came again a bit blurred (though you could actually read it this time, but still it was out of focus) but the whole page pics with AUTO settings came perfectly sharp. That's weird!

i usually use my phone till the phone shuts off because of no power left in the batt. i've done this with all the phones I've ever had. mayb it's good mayb it's bad, any ideas?
