and I guess if you brought your handset over to the uk then it would work via GPRS, 3.5G etc on them bands?
crazy really why they need certain bands for handsets to work they should use one for all

Hi Miss UK
That is one of the strange things about GSM which was meant to mean Global Standard for Mobiles but then didn't as everyone couldn't agree to one standard. So we ended up with the fragmentation we see, now stupid springs to mind.

With GSM/GPRS/EDGE on 850/1900mhz here in North America (South America & Australia inlc) nope if a non-quad band GSM phone goes to Europe/Asia it will NOT work
However, Using an SE W810i would work for GSM/GPRS/EDGE here as well as where you live. The SE w610i would work for GSM/GPRS but NOT 3G over here. Nokia N95-4 would work for GSM/GPRS/EDGE globally but 3G will NOT work where you live; but WILL work for 3G in my country - Canada.
Really messed up isn't it? And now that 3G chips are going Tri-band & Quadband (blam USA for their spectrum shortages on auction 3yrs ago; leaving T-Mobile USA on 1700/2100Mhz; 2100mhz NOT the same range as Euro phones

Today at the launch in South Africa, Nokia stated in a press release that the Nokia N96 will ship to South Africa with the latest Transformers movie embedded in the devices’ memory.
This is expected to happen to other countries in the world, if not all. Henri Mattila gave a presentation on the upcoming N78, N96 and N82 Black and gave us detailed and exclusive information on the most advanced NSeries devices to date.
Stay tuned as we publish our interview with Mattila and reveal the official Nokia shipping date. Today was the final media release for South Africa, with other countries to follow. Everything is now public, no more to hide about these phones, we have hands-on comparison photos and ran tests on the N96 and N78. I couldn’t be more surprised by the N78’s User Interface, of which I will talk about it following posts.

Hi, is anybody able to explain why video playback on nokia symbian phones pause intermittantly? This happens on my 6110 navigator and have seen it on another s60 phone. Is this a result of the small amount of ram available? My windows mobile phone could play a 700meg vid smooth as with not one problem. Are nokia's just bad for videos or is it the media player, real media that is the problem?
Posted by Dogmann
Hi twerg,
A lot depends on how the Video has been converted or what format it has been in as i have never had any problems watching my converted video's n any of my Nokia devices.
I have watched Video's on all of them and never had lag or stutters or voice and video out of synch either. I have watched video's on my N73, N93, E61, N95,N95 8GB and now an E90 which is my current device and due to the 4" screen is the best.
All my videos previously were encoded in MP4 H.264 either 320x 240 or 640x480 and have used a program called Movavi Video Converter and just selected settings for an iPod. Only with the E90 have i needed to set up a custom profile as it has a 800x352 screen ratio. Google it and download a trial version that will allow you to convert 30% of a file and check out the results to se if the problem still exists or not.
Marc

Otherwise use CorePlayer. I noticed some similar problem on my N81 which has 45mb RAM on boot up so its NOT ram, the RealPlayer in N81, E51, 6110-Nav and N82 seems to have this prob, its buggy, CorePlayer handles very high bit rate videos well, and much better than RealPlayer.

Guys I need some help.
After my N95-1 got stuck up I restarted it and now every tools and apps in the root folder got mixed up, for example my apps folder and some others vanished and now the content is in the root folder.
Can somebody tell me the default folders of the N95 and which content they had. I can't remember exactly which tools were in which folders.
I got my N95 only for a little while so I didn't have the time to change many things on it .
EDIT: It isn't necessary anymore I'll just do an update to the latest firmware it's due anyway.

Some fab themes on zedge.net and mobile9.com and if you get animated ones from zedge, it installs a little file called ownskin which enables the theme to be animated. Eg; rippling water, flames etc.
For some reason when installing some themes it comes up "not compatible, continue anyway?" I just click yes and it works perfectly.
