maybe in some way, but dont think its very "dangerous"
Posted by Miss UK
Only perhap when you use it alot to show off
Posted by BobaFett
its very useful, thats right. di u noticed any bugs when u make a video? today i wanted to make some, but its showing weird, it stops for s econd usually, even the sound is continualy in the background
Posted by vladn02
There is a way of seeing your own phone number and a far as i know it works with most S60 devices, here's how.
Open Contacts and press Options > SIM contacts > SIM directory and press Select, now press Options > My numbers and press Select, you should now be seeing your own number.
Quake 2 on your cell phone lol whats next

Has anyone noticed that whenever you open contacts, or logs, and then when you exit them, they still remain open in the RAM even though the multi-tasker shows they are closed.
A way to test this is to open contacts, then close, then open again and see that it'll open like it was already running. Or if you have a task manager application, it'll show that both those programmes are running in the background. Waste of RAM IMO.

boba. You know ive not tried video app yet

QVGA
True, i use Handy Taskman and everytime i exit Log, Contacts and Gallery i have to go in to Handy Taskman and Close them myself and my Music Player starts up Automaticaly after booting up the phone so i have to Kill . I think the newer Nseries Devices keep the Gallery open even after exiting, my N80 closed it when i exited but my N81 keeps it open.

one of the reasons i hate task manager, got used to "normal" usage

Any news on when the 6220 will be out?
Posted by BobaFett
afaik in the 3rd q of 2008
Posted by Miss UK
has anyone tried the headphones yet? Is the quality good
Posted by BobaFett
u mean it came with the fone? really crap imo, the cable is way too short. i took another one
Posted by Miss UK
Really boba. Is the phone loud when listening on headphones anyway? Some phones have crappy limiters. The 6280 wasn't very loud !
Posted by BobaFett
not that bad, but n91 was far better. i would say middle class
Posted by Miss UK
lol i'll get round to testing them out eventually
Posted by BobaFett
did any of u gave a try for gba roms in n95? really funny to play nintendo games
Posted by Miss UK
No Boba, wasn't aware you could !
I found a new version of Tetris at MOSH though
Posted by Residentevil
Are you playing it?
Posted by Miss UK
Only when im bored Ressy!
im not intrested in the N-Gage games,
I prefer my PSP
actually I ran into a issue after I installed the N-Gage application,
I thought what a waste of space this is and tried to delete it but it wouldn't delete I had to remove a few things from my phone before it unistalled anyone have that prob aswell?
Posted by frank2345babies
GBA games are really great on N95. but not just that remember there are NES,SNES and mega drive emulators also which run very smoothly and are worth installing even if only to keep the girlfriend quiet and entertained from time 2 time. and i wouldn't delete ngage yet from what i have read (nokia advertising) when reset generation(previously project white rock) is released it will be the mobile game of all mobile games.
( only read the last few pages of thread but is the new n95 firmware worth the update? yes or No
Posted by BobaFett
if i rotate the screen, its pretty cool to play the gba games
@miss seems u are are right, that crap auto rotation takes more power from the batt, so i turned it off and i started to drive me nuts, when i had the fone in my hand, it usually rotated the screen. nice feature, but had enough of it
Posted by Miss UK
I'll stick to Tetris and when something more appealing to me comes available on the N-Gage app then i'll re-install the app
which N95 have you got?
Boba, ive left it on cos it comes in handy and it makes the phone look better and more show offing in public
has anyone use the cable yet to add traxx and stuff?
I really can't be bothered with this so ive been sending MP3's to my email addresss then using the phones web browser going into my account and downloading them that way
Posted by BobaFett
why? thats what the cable is for... u just drain useless the batt imo... and next to it way more complicatde. or u have unlimited internet?
Posted by Miss UK
Boba yeah, it's so crap that Nokia didn't add a Mem card option to this phone, cos adding stuff to it is a right pain in the butt!
none for say though do what I do if you want traxx added to your phone, no stupid data cables involved that way
I use my data thru Vodafone or Wi-Fi
but seeing how Vodafone have upted there data from 120MB to 500MB I can download either connection now
Posted by BobaFett
it seems for me a bit weird to use intenet to download mp3, if u can do it for free
indeed, the lack of a removable storage is a big lack of n95-2, but imo for an average usage 8gb is enough
Posted by bavlondon2
Wow the black N82 is only £250 sim free on Plemix. Bargin!

plemix? Do you work for plemix or get ad payment from them? Just curious. Also whats their site and were are they located (brick & mortar location)? I'm curious about their phone selection, not interested in N82 until it supports 850/1900mhz HSDPA bands (else the video camera is useless to me).

I'm not sure about that. I know the N80 isnt capable of that. WiFi would be more useful on a 8GB memory phone for data transfer than internet i think.

N80 is capable of it, using the Home Media app.

Hi QVGA,
You can but you need to use an app called SymSMB V2.0 and i think there may even be a newer version now V3. With this app you are able to do it all and move or transfer anything you want from the phone to Computer or vice versa over WiFi. Of course using Bluetooth you can just use Upnp or the PC Suite really depends on exactly what you are trying to do as which route you take as some is included and some requires an additional app.

To be honest ... not sure why. The market has demanded it ... literary over a few thousand ppl have imported one version of the N95 or another (Rogers is getting the N95-4 US HSDPA + 8GB in BLACK). I'd guess the problem is data pricing model has been EXTORTION-like to say the least until recently ($7/mth for ON-Device Browsing for subsidized phones only). Also mostly because Rogers the only GSM provider in the country (they bought out the other competitor Fido/Microcell due to bankruptcy of Fido roughly 3yrs ago).
Now you feel our pain when SE hardly made any 850mhz band phones until the past 2yrs (more than 1 per year that is).
Also this N95 makes it Canada's only S60 phone supported/subsidized phone (just last mth the 6682 was still for sale but nobody in their right mind would touch it).

Would the N95-2 Euro version work in Canada?
I don't see why the US and beyond have
different codes for the phones lol

Is any of u using the tv out cable usually?

When dialing a number, i press '* 'about 2 or three times and a 'p' or a 'w' shows up. Whats that?
Posted by Dogmann
Hi QVGA
The P & W characters are used in unlocking the phone with the manufacturer code be careful as if you press the green button after this you will use up one of the 3 chances you get to unlock it. After 3 even with the right code the phone can no longer be unlocked at all ever.

Watched Spiderman3 on a 14" portable last week(N95-2 v.15 fw)! Got to say, it looked good(not amazing, but the TV is an old Orion, doesn't help), however the phone UI doesn't look so hot blown up like that(esp. compared to 904SH)......
Posted by BobaFett
guess p nd w means : password?
Posted by shug
It's true that p and w are used by manufacturers in locking codes but their original function is for the sending of dtmf tones over the phone (for example to gain access to a system or an answering service) In this case they represent pauses between sets of numbers.

Only GPRS & EDGE will work.
Here in Canada & North America (US, Mexico, South America) we use the following for 3G & HSDPA bands:
850Mhz & 1900Mhz
reason: the other bands 900/1800/2100mhz are already in us by other entities for different technologies.
Canada is unique though for the following aspects:
EDGE: is ONLY on 850mhz!
Reason: Rogers Wireless launched GPRS on top of TDMA back in Nov 2001 to compete with Fido/Microcell Inc. our ONLY other GSM provider (and TRUE GSM core at that time). Since then Rogers went FULL GSM Core with the help & acquisition of Fido brand from Microcell (they actually bought Microcell & other licensing technologies) just under 3yrs ago. Since Microcell only had a GSM/GPRS network across Canada, Rogers launched EDGE just before purchase on the 850mhz bands to save costs (Licensing bands; this was cheaper & allowed for spectrum blocks to be used for 3G less than 1yr later). There are FEW & RARE occurences in the country where EDGE is also on 1900mhz.
3G & HSDPA (yes we've got 7.6Mbps data rates)
both on 850mhz/1900mhz.
This May 20th is a HUGE milestorm in Canada.
1> License auction for spectrum will for the FIRST time in history here allow for OUTSIDE companies to purchase, own, partner or setup a wireless network to FULLY compete.
Reason: we're getting sick of a virtual monopoly of GSM network choice of brands & too much of a stagnant CDMA partnership between Telus Mobility & BELL across the country.
2> Canadian business can purchase up to 60% of the new spectrum (for any technology) while outside business' can purchase up to 40% of spectrum blocks.
Hope this sheds some light.

THe BEST news of all from my posting last page is this phone is APPROVED by Rogers for VISION services.
* thats means $7/mth for UNLIMITED On-Device surfing!!!!!
WOAH! I feel like that baby in the E-Trade commercial that puked from excitement!
- still remains to be seen if 3rd party apps can be detected and charged extra for usage.
