@shug does it matter that i'm not from UK?

Posted by shug
I promise you they don't give a **** where you come from. When you're dealing with Nokia the U.K. site is the best one to talk to

Posted by BobaFett
U can del thms easy, just press 'c', but the pre items cannot be del

Hey all. Im really liking the N80 atm. Maybe I have turned to the dark side! lol. Anyway, does anyone know if you can get an extended (more powerful) battery for the N80? Also where on Nokia batteries does it tell you the mah of the battery. I cant find it on my N80 BL-5b, or my 1100 BL-5c?

Cheers

edit: apart from the lock keypad with code is there any other locks I can add? For example messages and gallery?

Cheers

there is a 3rd party app which will ask for codes when accessing the menu/certain parts of the menu, but im not sure about built in

Posted by Dogmann
Hi Coxy
i did tell you about Autolock but forgot to tell you need the version for S60 3rd Edition as this does the job well and is free it really does work.

Marc

Posted by BobaFett
its really crap that u have to pay for the autolock feature at nokia...

Posted by Coxy
I have autolock but it doesnt lock anything other than the keypad, but also not with a code.

Posted by Dogmann
Hi Coxy,
sorry misunderstood you go into settings, Security, Phone and Sim, and scroll down to autolock period and there you go, enjoy. It activates the lock code after your defined period and requires pin entry to unlock.

But is there anyway to lock certain things? ie messages gallery etc?

Cheers

Posted by BobaFett
no, there isnt. maybe with a third party app, however i never saw anything like that before

Posted by 2K6Martin2K6
i just love the pearl black N80 i will be getting it as soon as i get some money unless by that time there will be something similiar with better specs eg in the battery.

Posted by BobaFett
there was a rumour about a 1000 mah third party batt, maybe that will solve the problem. but according my experiences, third party batts, even with more mah, dont even offer the generic batt performance, with less mah

Posted by bugsiiy
@Coxy why don't you try to swap the n80 with a n73 or even better a n93 (with some cash from you,or without cash by including something like a memory card)?

Posted by Coxy
Well is anyone here interested in a swap for an N73? I think the 93 is a little too large and expensive for me.

dude, if your really liking the N80, why swap it for a N73?

Posted by BobaFett
Its the bad influence of the many positive posts of n73. But true, dont choose a fone depending and based of others opinion

true said boba but still a person who has it may say think that would make you think twice about the decision to get a new phone or not.

Posted by BobaFett
If u would use . , etc would be easier to get u :-)

@Coxy how's your N80 performing?

Posted by BobaFett
Imo if a n80 survives 24h without charging, thats a top result.

Its not bad considering the old firmware. Im in two minds to sell it though. Not sure if an N73 would be better? Whats peoples general thoughts?

Posted by Dogmann
Hi Coxy,
It really depends do you need or want Wi-Fi and the N80 has a higher resoloution screen but the N73 is lighter and smaller and has better battery life. It really is 6 of one and half a dozen of the other really only you know which suits your needs better and can decide but i'd say its hard to choose other than you already have one in your hands.

Marc

Posted by BobaFett
The block way is better imo, do liked 6680 and n70. N90 was ok, but impossible to make a good pic, to hold that fone and shoot u need really cool hands.

I would say stick with the N80, i think its a better overall phone. Plus it does everything i want it to do.

And i think the N80 will retain its value, with the N73 i think its price will drop very quickly

Posted by BobaFett
Imo n73 will keep its price cos of the many interest

Well I dont NEED the wifi and the signal isnt that that strong. But other than that there really is hardly any difference. They both take minisd right?

Posted by Dogmann
Hi Coxy,
yes they both do indeed and the same software also, are you saying you get a really weak Wi-fI signal on the N80? As on the N93 its full strength.

Marc

Posted by BobaFett
Yes, both work with mini sd

This message was posted from a K610i

Posted by Coxy
Well I am sticking with the N80 I think. I can live with charging it every night tbh. Should have a 2GB mini sd tonight! Yeah my signal is weak. Like a foot away from the router with just a printer between I only get 50% signal. I think I need a firmware upgrade! Can they really increase signal over firmware? I heard that early firmwares have bad signal, but later they dont?

Posted by BobaFett
Do u have constantly 3g?

is there anyway to check what software version you have on the n80, like you can on se's with the little code, or of course update service?

I might be swapping my k800 for a black n80, but want to know what region its from as some features may NOT work properly with differnt region firmwares? Can i find this info on n80? Can i find out what region it is from, like se has eu2 for example? is this possible?

cheers

Don't know if anyone's seen the article on Newmobile about the N75:

and N95(ex- N83):

@ads1107 so to find what firmware you have you must enter the code *#0000# but i don't think that nokia gives you some kind of code la SE,to tell you for which region it is

Hey guys. I've got an N91. It's a good phone but it also suffers from short battery standby, I'm trying my best to go without listening to music as to see whether it'll last longer. Here's a Q, I can swap my wife's samsung D900 for an N80 today. What do you guys think? worth it?

This message was posted from a N91-1

Posted by driftmania
the D900 def. looks better, plus it's probably thinner. if she doesn't need symbian, then she should keep the D900.

Posted by QVGA
Guys, I'll probably be swapping my W800 for a N71 in a couple of days. What are your views on the N71?

Posted by *dust*
She's not using the d900 atm because I gave her my W810i to use. Is there no1 here that thinks it's a worthwhile swap? D900 for N80.

This message was posted from a N91-1

Posted by shug
Swap it and run! It would take me an hour to list the pros in this deal.

Posted by *dust*
but what about all the bad stuff I'VE read about the N80?

This message was posted from a N91-1

Posted by Dogmann
Hi Dust,
most if not all of the problems have been sorted in the latest firmware release which should be available for home flashing any time now if not a visit to a service centre will do. The only other problem with the N80 is battery life but you can always get a spare, no one can really make the decision for you so much depends on your personal preference and what you actually need or want to do.

Marc

Posted by *dust*
Thanks for your reply. Battery life is not too much of an issue. All I want to know really is if it will b a good swap, for me at least. eventually I want to have the whole N Series together. I have the N91 NOW, next the 80, followed by the 90 then the 70. then I'LL start with the newer models.
