Today, i-mate introduced two 3G new Windows Mobile 5.0 devices. The i-mate JASJAM, the rebranded HTC TyTN (aka "Hermes") and the i-mate SP JAS, the rebranded HTC MTeoR (aka "Breeze").

Made for global use, these sleek new devices support GSM, GPRS, EDGE, WCDMA, HSDPA, and Bluetooth. As Windows Mobile 5.0 devices, the JASJAM and SP JAS both support synchronization between Microsoft Outlook Mobile and desktop versions of Outlook, for keeping your inbox and calendar close at hand.

The tri-band UMTS and WiFi-enabled JASJAM comes equipped with a slide-out, QWERTY keyboard with two soft keys, and a 5 way thumbwheel that makes it easy for typing and one-handed navigation. The device's 2.8 inch 65k color TFT display (240x320 pixels) with touch-screen input provides a large canvas for viewing photos taken with the JASJAM's two megapixel camera. The display can be viewed in either landscape or portrait modes, as Windows Mobile 5.0 supports both. Also included are Microsoft Mobile Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. A 1300mAh Lithium ion battery provides 4 to 5 hours worth of talk time, or 8.25 days worth of standby time. The 176g (6.2oz) JASJAM measures 113mm x 58mm x 22mm (4.4" x 2.3" x 0.9") in size and comes in a black matte finish with a touch of grey.

The slim and stylish tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900MHz) and UMTS 2100MHz i-mate SP JAS is a candy bar style device that offers low weight for the end user's purse or pocket, weighing in at a mere 115g (4.1oz). The ultra fast SP JAS provides quick access to the Internet with its 300MHz Samsung processor, and, of course, supports hand off between GSM/EDGE and UMTS networks seamlessly. The SP JAS's main camera is a 1.3 megapixel unit and, like the JASJAM, includes a second forward facing camera for video telephony. The SP JAS offers full Windows Mobile functionality and is preloaded with Microsoft's Exchange Direct Push2 technology. The SP JAS measures in at 112mm x 49mm x 15mm (4.4" x 2.0" x 0.6") and provides up to 4 hours talk time or up to 7 days standby time.

Both devices ship with a free 30-day trial of i-mate Suite, which is an application aimed at safeguarding data, minimizing downtime, and for accessing and transferring data on the go.

The i-mate JASJAM and SP JAS are available now for US$888 and US$544, respectively.

not another one...

the one on the right really looks crappy, although being fair the left one would be nice if it were thin and not so chunky
