Hi, i am having troubles removing the battery cover?! i know i know its sounds stupid but how the heck do you get it off?

I never had this issue with previous SE phones!

Posted by influence_uk
does no one have this issue then!?

or is it that no one knows hoe to take the cover off!?

Posted by mrianwatson
Hold it tightly at the top sides with one hand and put your thumb on your other hand in the centre of the cover and push in and down, it's tight like that the first couple of times then it's ok after that.

Jesus, finally! i been trying that for hours!!

Cant see why they made it so hard to get off!

20 minutes i have been trying to get it off, ARG! I have tried bluetack, rubber gloves, everything the bugger won't move!

Posted by haynesycop
OMG! This thing is evil i am sooooo going to cry in a minute lol!

Posted by frakker
The more you remove it the easier it gets I've found. Initally it took me 10 minutes and a towel to get a better grip before it finally came apart. I can now remove it first time everytime with no effort.

Yeah i have had this problem before lol, it is soo annoying as i just want to use it lol.

*runs to get a thicker towel lol*

OMG! This is driving me up the wall i have tried everything and it won't budge. I am going to have to go into town to a phone shop and get somebody to open it.

have you tried my standard answer to this problem?

I have found that removing the back cover can be easy if you hold the phone upside down with the bottom facing away from you. grip both sides with both hands and use both thumbs to push down and slide away from you. It does take some force but once the slide starts it comes right off

as said, once you've done it a few times it gets easier

Posted by haynesycop
I swear that is the way i always do it, faced down with both thumbs and it won't budge at all. I am going to cry lol!

This happened with the T610 and i took it into orange and the guy did it the first time around, i looked so dumb.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

perhaps you need to work out a bit more

but of course, it should be much easier than this. its the same trying to get sim cards out of SE's too, very tricky on most models.

you need really good finger nails but probably thats where you have an advantage!

Hey i am not a weak thank you very much, i have good muscles it is the phone that is at fault lol.

My thumbs are so sore, sob, off to the o2 shop it is unless anybody can think of anything else?

lol!

usually its a matter of confidence to press hard. you might remember it was the same with the Z520 when we tried to replace the standard white cover with the supplied pink one.

we all though yanking at the cover was going to break it but when we had the confidence to give it a good pull it just clicked off

same here really. just press inwards and down toward the bottom hard and it does shift, honestly! (and yes, I'm still talking about the K800 cover!)

Ok i will try again, i am pressing really hard but i don't even feel it give at all. I have even tried a rubber jar opener and that won't work either lol.

ok, just got my K800 out (don't really use it much these days)

remember the back cover extends around covering the bottom of the phone so you have to be careful how you are holding the phone as you push down as its easy to be using your index fingers in opposition to your thumbs thus negating your efforts

after that, I have no more suggestions. mine comes off dead easy now! (sorry)

Ah thanks for the advice and getting your K800i out to help but it seriously won't budge. Think i will be taking a little trip tomorrow hehehe!

when you finally get the cover off you'll see why it's a pain - there are
2 spring like clips about half way down as well as the ones where the
battery cover meets the back cover !!

I finally got mine to come off regularly by using the heel of my palm and
a left to right rocking motion whilst it's lying on a lens cloth - this seems
to release the top clips as well as the side ones

Hold the phone as normal like you are texting with two thumbs

I'VE DONE IT

I went to the o2 shop and the guy said he couldn't do it without damaging the phone and said the battery wasn't in flat and was pressing against it.

So i came home and tried with the jam jar opener, it took some doing but it WORKED!!!

YAY!

hhahaha good to hear that....

i thought i was the only with that problem before... it took damn too long for me to open it the first time. i hade to use a mini flat screw driver to help wedge the edge so that i can push the cover out. but after that the second time was a charm i guess it will loosen up when you've actually removed the cover a number of times.

i believe this was also the case with my previous phone (k750)

Next time try packaging tape, the brown stuff. Stick a long length of it on to your battery cover, enough so that you can get a good grip on, then pull.

Had the same problem with a few k750's.

I can confirm that putting/using both of your thumb to slide the batt cover work for me the first time.

I have the same problem with my K800i James Bond Edition -_-

I got sooo F**KING pist!!! I used my thumbs, towel, shirt, small flat screw driver (only makes stupid scratches) and Ive even used my nails. NOTHING worked!!!.... Maybe throwing it against a wall will work (Dont want to try that). I give up. It would be impossible to change the card now -.-

1 word: Well done Sony Ericsson...You've just ruined a very nice phone... lol

I have no issue in removing the battery cover..it opens up just easily..I guess the problem appears when you put the cover wrongly in the beginning..be careful or your toy is wrecked..
