I know these are out tomorrow, as i'm waiting on my A-Level ones to see if I got my place in uni or not!

Most the people I know are worried or really nervous, strangely i'm not, I guess it's cause I haven't given them much thought...

Just want to know who else is expecting them and how they're feeling right now

Also if anyone has any information about clearing, might be useful to chuck that up here, i'll have a dig around if it might help people

Posted by ÈL ® ö B ì Ñ
Yep expecting them too and I thought the same thing..

Why arn't I nervous?

Then again I only done IT and when I handed all the work in I was predicted a mid-high B. So I should get a C or a B.

I'd be happy with either.... So I guess theres no reason to worry

GCSE Results, 8 Days!!!!

Posted by maddav
A-Levels!

I need AA or AB in maths & physics, I think I got BB

Posted by kk.226
Why is it 8 days for GCSE results? Our school gets them in tomorrow.

It gets the A-level results available for 10am, but I get them at 8am, as I have an interview with the BBC

@Solid, you looked into clearing incase you don't get the grades?

I called my uni today and they said they might take you on if others have below predicted grades, then the points needed for the course are then lowered.

Posted by scottt
I am cacking myself to be honest, was ok until about an hour ago, i need BCC, but thinking bout it logically i highely doubt i will get that.

Still unsure about Uni, if i go would be applying next year, no big deal if i totally cock up as will just go off into the Police next year

Posted by siamese plantpot
im not too fussed, but then mine are gcse's in a weekish. my sis has got a big stack of dvd's cause she cant sleep the night before results as she's getting her a-level results. im already in at my college unless i screw up amazingly badly so im just hoping for the best.
good luck to you guys too!

I need about the same as you scott... and I really wished I had done a bit more work... especially as I spent a few months doing my ICT coursework, and it didn't get handed in properly which left me with a U grade for it! And it was at least B standard

I'm basically hoping for my B in business, a C in DT and a D in ICT. I'll make my uni accept me if I get that.

If I put in the work, and didn't bother making money I could've got my predicted AAB!

*looks into clearing options*

Posted by tombadier
I get my A-Level results tomorrow too.

Very nervous! Need AAB to get to my first choice and to be honest can't see that happening.

Posted by ÈL ® ö B ì Ñ
Yer same, wish i'd done a bit extra and went for the A so I would be comfortable about getting a B.
But was told "You should be getting a B for this, but if they're really harsh then a high C"

Bah, a C is a C no matter how high or low it is though!

Meh, i'm going into year 14 anyway, new course...so I don't need anything over a C.

And after this course, I automatically get a place at my local Uni the year after to finish it of.

Sorted

i know we will be off to the pub straight after deffo to drown our sorrows and will be out tommorrow night too as is teh tradition on results days

what time do the schools open to giv results?

Posted by Evil Eye
all the best guys

Posted by haynesycop
Your all worrying over nothing my friend needed AAB to study medicine at newcastle and she got BBC and she got in no problem they accepted her straight away.

A levels are harder than a degree all my friends have said so, relax it will all be dandy.

Posted by ÈL ® ö B ì Ñ
Your all worrying about grades.

I'm worried about waking up before 1pm

Posted by kk.226
It's funny how people say degrees are easier than A-levels... cause A-levels are easy

lol the only reason we get low grades is because we're lazy bastards not because they're hard! We all chill for the first 6 months, then panic with work and exams etc the last few months, which gets us the poor grades.

If we spend an hour a day working from the start of the year (I spend that much time having a shower anyways) we'd be sitting happy as larry...

But no need to worry as next year will be different (as always)

Posted by haynesycop
Yeah your right there i did fook all for my AS levels and got a E,E,U in them lol i did no work at all.

If i had bothered revising and doing the work i would have gone to uni and graduated by now.

Oh well better late than never eh!

Good luck to everyone for tomorrow.

Posted by solidsingh
kk ur spot on but i think even with an hours work a day , A levels are solid and they are harder than degrees

Posted by Mulder7
I cant wait for my A level results tomorrow. An excuse to drink, pass or fail!

Posted by rule_breaker
I've already got my grades, I have achieved 360 UCAS points (thats a maximum u can get from 3 A levels) plus Ive got my place in the uni with a scholarship of £3k a year, which is my tution fee..

Jus waiting on my loan to get cleared so I can buy a nice car and a laptop to make things even better..

All the best to those getting their results today and do sumbit the horror stories here

i got in feel really bad though

Posted by Evil Eye
@luke why you feel bad mate?

Posted by masseur
just a quick Q

i was watching Sky News this morning where they said the average uni student comes out with 14grand debt.

how do you all feel about that? is it really worth going to Uni these days?

Posted by haynesycop
Well that is what made me decide not to go when i was 18 because i was so caught up in the cost, debt gets me really stressed out lol.

But at the end of the day i think i am sensible enough not to get way over my head with the money side and i am glad i have waited untill now to go. Although i will have to pay £9,000 in tuition fee's which is not good.

I am going for many reasons these being:

1. I will be the first person in my family to ever go to university.
2. Would like to have a degree under my belt.
3. Have the best 3 years of my life.
4. Meet new people.

My friends brother went to university a few years ago and had around £15,000 debt and she said that he pays the minimum each month of his loan which works out at around £5 a week.

This way he has not missed a big chunk out of his wages each month (only £20) and he has been able to buy his own place.

Good luck to everyone today i hope you all got what you wanted and needed.

Posted by Luke-the-magic-man
@ manish - I have no idea just disapointed, probally as I feel that I under achieved or something... i duno

@ mas - yeh debts a big problem, especially now that we have to pay £3k a year in tuition fees alone. But one thing to consider is on adverage those people who go to uni earn somethinkg like 400k more (overall) to thouse who don't.

I don't really know why im going, just seems like a good idea to do so

Posted by Evil Eye
@all my uni will start on 21st of this month.
i will be doing computer engineering and will be far away from home, in Pune(near Mumbai,India)

Posted by below24
"14grand debt"

Yep its that loan, it will kill you... i try to keep it as low as possible.

Uni is a life experience...

Posted by Evil Eye
no debt on me, my dad is paying for all the fees.

my dad will be paying 900000 INR for the full(4 years) computer engineering course.
its around 11 Grands.

in India most of the students dont go for a part time job and that stuff, so parents have to pay for the fees and all the additional costs.

arghhhh got CDE

aston wont let me in , they say i hav 2 do a foundation year first so im goin wolves uni

Posted by rule_breaker
I'll also be doing a computer engineering course, Now that I've got my results and I've achieved maximum possible grades I dont feel like going to uni, which I am actually gonna go to the reason being that I can get into a much better university like Kings College or UCL or if I really stretch it then Cambridge!

Thats one reason im totally unhappy about that I'd be missing a life time opportunity to go to 'A great' university otherthan that the university I am going to has offerend me £3k Scholarship per year, which will cancel out my tuition fees which means by the end of the degree I wont be in many debts as Im also considering staying home for the first year..

Being an asian, I can always ask my dad to pay for my tuition fees as it seems like a tradition for most the asians however I like to be independant and responsible and being in debts would be the perfect way to start

Posted by haynesycop
Oooooooo not many people have posted their results, you all drowning your sorrows or something?

@solid don't be too upset, least you have got a place at univeristy which is the main thing. You will have a great time where ever you go.

I kind of feel left out today lol i found out in June i was going and it was pretty much settled last year in September i would be going as an access course is completely different from A levels. They won't let you fail.

It's all about the money for the college on whether people pass plus it was way easier than A levels which is worrying as i may struggle with a degree.

Cannot wait to get started though!

EEEEEKKKKK!!!

Posted by ÈL ® ö B ì Ñ
Well i'm happy, I do an IT course, equivelant to an A level.

And it's a double course, so 2 A levels (get another 3 next year).

Overall I got BB, mates all got BC, and CC so i'm happy there.

Broken down I got:

B
B
A
B
A

Was expecting a C, B hadn't really crossed my mind, so to get 2 B's, dead happy.
900/1200 for everything it works out so a mid B too

Not great, not shite.

But comming from a usual C/D person....my mums bloody happy

Posted by kk.226
Just got in, got BBD... guess it's alright. I'm not complaining, just happy to get into uni Was a bit cheesed off to find i was both 3 and 5 marks off AAD. And it's also gay that my ict coursework (at B standard) got a U because it wasn't handed in properly, therefore giving me a D but what can you do.

I seriously would've thought doing 0 work all year and revising last minute for exams would teach me a lesson.... turns out it gets me a place in uni, meh.

@Masseur... The debts not really a big issue as paying it back won't be a problem, it's really peanuts every week. And as for it being worth it... DEFINATELY! To be honest i'm not going to uni for the degree etc, just for a good time.

A guy I met on the weekend asked what I was going to study, I said "Business Management" He just said "haha, you just wanna go uni don't you!"

For me it'll be about enjoying the freedom, and not having to grow up too fast.

@Jag... does doing the foundation course garuntee you a place at the university the next year? As my mates doing that for art now and i'm curious if it's the same.

Hope everyone else got what they wanted.

Posted by haynesycop
Well done!

That is good considering you left it last minute.

Your like me, i am mainly going for the social aspect, to meet loads of new people especially from all over the country, basically life experience.

Posted by 50Cent
ahh did pants to be honest.... well al ot worse than i expected/wanted

B- 3 marks off A
B - mid B
C - 1 mark off B

Still got the place at my 1st choice uni.. the offer was ABB lol!

I told you lot didn't i, people seem to worry about the results but nearly always get their first choice uni.

Nice to see you got in though, and remember A levels mean nothing once you have your degree, just like GCSE's mean nothing now you have A levels.

All the best for university, what you going to study?

Posted by 50Cent
thanks im just glad the wait is over

Im going to be doing a masters in mechanical engineering

Posted by haynesycop
Nice one! That is way over my head lol! Have fun sure you will love it.

Well done to all you A-level people!!!

I was there once, crapping bricks about the results lol But hey, I'm in Uni now and loving it.
Those of you going to Uni, you're gonna have the time of your life! Meeting people, socialising, new places, new faces its totally cool!!!
BRACE YOURSELVES FOR FRESHERS WEEK, thats all I'm gonna say...
I'm going into my second year now, can't wait!

@masseur

The debt's totally worth it, I mean you only pay a fraction of what you earn, so it won't put you in debt so to speak. I reckon it'll be closer to £20,000 for my debt.
Stupid thing is, I plan to do medicine after I finish my current course so gotta save....lol

Which Uni's are you all going to? Anyone coming to London?

Cheers

Posted by haynesycop
WOW! Your doing one degree and then going into a medicine degree, my god! Your one crazy guy lol!

My mate is doing medicine now she loves it, well hard work but that is to be expected i guess.

Right about freshers fair? I guess your saying brace yourself as in all the alcohol consumtion lol, but what exactly do you get offered and what's the freebies etc etc.

My other mate is at Manchester and is going to her third freshers fair when she goes back hahahahaha your only meant to go to one.

@SE rules i am going to Liverpool John Moores cannot afford to go away and i live with my mum and grandparents so cannot really leave my mum to cope on her own (what a lovely daughter i am lol)

Yeah, I wanted to medicine before, but couldn't get in , so I'm doing this course until I can get in to Med... Hopefully...

Yeah Freshers week was crazy, I did mean in terms of drink, I still can't believe how much I/we drunk, the clubs and bars, drunk students, meeting sooo many cool people, especially the lovely ladies...

Our Freshers fair was huge, it had stalls for everything, from sky-diving to free johnnies, v. useful ! I joined everything! You get soo much free stuff, its just crazy! lol

Are you still at Uni then?

Cheers

Posted by Evil Eye
@SE Rules free stuff?

we have to pay for everything here.

Posted by haynesycop
Good luck with the medicine thing, sure you will get there eventually it is really hard to get in especially first time. No i start next month, cannot wait. Should be really good, i am glad i am staying at home really, will save money and Liverpool is a great place anyway, just looking forward to meeting people really.

Freshers week should be great too i am going to make sure i get there REALLY early lol, so what course are you doing now? I was tempted to apply for anatomy & physiology but decided against it, wish i had now, oh well.

Posted by Luke-the-magic-man
