Maxtor, wouldn't touch it if it was £20.

Worst make around, got too many dead 1's here.

Well know - Well shit (should be their moto)

Posted by Luke-the-magic-man
lol they seem good enough to me, I have had numerous ones in my old pcs and they worked fine, but I guess its just personal preference. Anyway the intenral drives prob have a 2/3 year warrenty on them which is something you won't find on many of hd's these days

Posted by Luke-the-magic-man
all sold out now, but some come in the next few days

people read the item proply

its a maxtor why would you waste money on a ticking time bomb of death and distrution to your data?

huh?

I don't get it whats wrong with maxtor? I have never had a problem with them. Westen digital are a bit scummy if you ask me

also segate own maxtro?

Posted by ÈL ® ö B ì Ñ
2 maxtor drives on my desk.

1 = 7000hours use and clicking

1 = made in 2000, has 19500o (almost two hundred thousand) use and works fine.

Oh, and about 5 dead 1's downstairs.

They just seem to arse up for me, but i can't believe my 6 year old 1 is running and with 200k hours usage lol.

Posted by Luke-the-magic-man
lol, rite weird. why not send them off to be fixed?

Just ordered 1, need to back up my pc so its a great find thanks

all i can say - is if your getting a hdd for a silent pc (e.g. media centre for living room) then dont go for a maxtor - go for seagate - my 200gb maxtor makes a hell of a noise, whereas my older (covered on the bottom) seagate doesnt make much noise atall

but....for a removable hdd - wow! good price dude!

EDIT!!! SERIOUSLY IMPORTANT - anyone notice it saying MAC ONLY?!?!?!?!?!?

will work wih pc's usb and firewire interface, although ig I were keeping one I do own a mac

Posted by Luke-the-magic-man
I just had a call from the company and they told me there wasnt enough stock and I could only have 3, so I thought f**k it and cancled my order... probally for the best but im not to torn up about it

Posted by Glenny
that sucks!!! You ordered em, and its first come first served, you got there first, so you should av em all!

maxtor are fine IMO. I read about em being crap. But i got one, its fine. Ive only had loud Hard Drives, so i dunno what a quiet one sounds like

Posted by ÈL ® ö B ì Ñ
That doesn't make sense, you can only have 3 instead of 5, and thats ubnderstandable as it's just greedy, and they will prolly know with 5 your just buying and selling them on.

Where as they can plese some more customers by not selling you 5.

3 is still alot, why'd you say no? it's only 2 less.

Doesn't matter how loud it is really, if you got more then 2 fans running or sound on ya tv, ya can't hear it anyway.

Posted by Luke-the-magic-man
lol well to be honnest I am only going to make 50-90 quid on 3 whereas I could make 150ish on 5, it just works out better, but also the woman got funny about them only working on macs, which made me wonder a bit.

I do agree 5 is greedy, but business is dog eat dog, I could have fought and got all 5, but for me its just not worth it, this monring I was thinking o why did I do that and it just gave me a easy way to back out lol

Posted by ÈL ® ö B ì Ñ
Lol true.

I saw the mac thing, but it also says it has USB and works on PC.

Posted by Luke-the-magic-man
yer, the woman seemed to stress it doesnt work on windows which confused me, and if it confuses buyers it will lower the sale price

Posted by slugworth
did you guys think that the HDD FW is mac only interface? this does happen... meh anyway hope you enjoy the helicopters

Posted by Luke-the-magic-man
nope firewire is not just a mac only interface any tit on a cardiff buss would know that lol.

Helicopters

Nah it deff said PC and Mac in the description, I know it said mac only at the top, but in the description it said that it's compatable with both.
