thanks for the reply carkitter
why do people call it high yun dai?
Posted by >500
thats how the asian people pronounce it (not meaning to offend anyone)
My families Thai friends pronounce it like that, so id guess it be similar to how the koreans may say it....
Posted by clank
the commercials here pronounce it as hyun-thy
"th" sound as in "this"
Posted by torque_tonic
yeah....i think thats how asians pronounce it..im asian...but i've got the australian accent
ads1107 havent you seen the ads on the telly? cuz i live in melb aswell and they call it hee-yun-dai.

It can really depend on where you are from two good examples are Peugeot and Nissan.
In the case of Peugeot: In the UK people say "Per Show" and in Ireland people say "Phew Show" indicating that neither nation can pronounce French words:)
In the case of Nissan: people in the UK and Ireland say "Niss Anne" in America they say "Neee Son" although I'm not sure where they got that from?

You are most welcome.
As the song goes.... "I say "Tom-ah-toe" and you say "To-May-Toe"...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One word that always annoyed me though is Aluminum!
This isn't an argument against America, It’s just an argument at appalling spelling
"Aluminuminum....aluminumum....aluminiumumumum...." ah to hell with it, lets just call it a sheet of shiney stuff!!!
