Need USB advice

The W600i was reportedly problematic when terminating a USB connection to a PC.

The W810i is worse, so far in my experience. I "ejected" mine from within Windows, waited for the phone to state it was "safe" to disconnect, and only after all that did I disconnect the cable. On the next power-cycle, the phone gave me the flashing white screen of death!

So how does one reliably perform fault-free PC (or Mac) dis/connections with the newer phones over USB? If I can't ever perform a USB connection without fear of another 3-week visit to the repair facility in Bloomington, Indiana, then what's the point?

heres what i do...

turn the phone off after i finished my data transfer... THEN i pull the cable out but i normly just take the mem card out and chuck it in my pc easyer safer and less hassle or use bluetooth

BTW, I hate to say this, but... My RAZR V3i didn't give me even a hint of trouble with this. Not once. Ever

Yeah, for this reason, I ONLY use Bluetooth to transfer stuff, or I make sure that I have a media card reader to transfer my data.

No offense at all to anyone, but this is bloody ridiculous.

One of the phone's supposed capabilities is the ability to mount its memory on a PC/Mac as a USB drive, correct? Then why must we use our phones in fear of this capability?

It's like buying a Porsche, and never driving it, for fear the motor will explode when started

That's true, but still, it's so much easier for me, to just connect via bluetooth. It's like having a roof rack, but never using it, and only the trunk of your car.

i gave up on my usb cable and now i only use it to flash firmware , my advice: buy a usb dongle/adapter , for your pc , its slightly quicker and less hassle

@rdny, dont you think bluetooth is kinda slow whhen it comes to transfer of large files?
I agree with you on the Media Card reader part tho...
